Pr0ton:
I asked what the fate of those who weren't able to hear the gospel before they died - young kids, those who died before the gospel could reach, the deaf, dumb and blind - would be. You replied by quoting 1 Pt 4:6 changing the tenses (in your interpretation) to support your idea that the dead have the opportunity to listen to the gospel.

I contended that 1 Pt 4:6 speaks of Jesus three days stay activity in the grave, and not a continual process. The verse states it clearly that he preached and not he preaches. But you kept on trying to distort the verse in order to suit your answer. Apparently you had no answer to provide, except getting verses distorted to get around the question.

I also objected your idea of dead people being able to make decisions after death by quoting verses that disprove your point. Eccl 9:10 makes it clear that we all have one life. We should use it wisely for nothing happens after death... All these disprove your answer - you actually didn't provide an answer
Do you believe in God? Do you believe He is a just God?

Romans 1v16 -For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the jews first, and also to the greek.

The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Meaning no one can be saved without the gospel -without hearing it and believing it.

That is why Jesus commanded for the gospel to be preached unto every creature:

Mark 16v15 -Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel unto every creature.

So that those who hear and believe can be saved; and those who hear and don't believe will be without excuse.

So what happens to those who don't hear it before dying?

If you believe God is a just God; you will know that He won't condemn someone who didn't believe only because He didn't hear. We can't even believe without hearing; and scripture doesn't expect us to:

Romans 10v14 -How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom THEY HAVE NOT HEARD?

God's justice won't condemn a man who didn't believe in Christ because he didn't hear the gospel. So what happens then?

1Peter 4:6 shows that Jesus preached the gospel to those who are dead.

We don't have any verse to prove or disprove that Jesus still preaches to the dead; or even that anyone else still does it. So no one can talk authoritatively on that. Even the doctrine of being baptized for the dead that was practised by some early christians was not mainstream in the early church.

You want to authoritatively say the gospel is no more preached to the dead. That's an assumption. You can't be authoritative with an assumption. Just as I can't authoritatively say it is still preached. So let's not go beyond what is written.

What is however not debateable and can be authoritatively said, is that Jesus preached the gospel to the dead; meaning that the gospel can be preached after death; and the dead can hear the gospel.

So whether it was preach or preached, the verse shows and proves that the gospel can still be heard even after death by the dead.

So dying before or without hearing the gospel does not necessarily mean its too late to hear it. That is sound doctrine, without adding to the scriptures.

Then as to you saying we have only one life, and that there's nothing after death. Well, many verses prove you wrong.

Many verses prove that human souls and spirits stay animate and conscious even after the body dies:

Luke 16v19-31 Rich man and Lazarus. Abraham, Lazarus and the rich man, were all dead yet their souls were animate, conscious and active. They could still see, hear and talk to eachother.

1Peter 3v18-19 -Being put to the death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison.

This proves that, Christ's spirit stayed animate and active when His body was dead; and He also preached to other spirits who were equally animate and conscious and could hear a preaching.

2Cor 5v8 -We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from body, and to be present with the Lord.

Paul here talking about death; and he describes it as absent from the body to be present with the Lord. Meaning; while the body is buried in the grave, the soul and spirit departs to be with Christ, who is in heaven. not in the grave with the body.

He repeated this truth in:

Philippians 1v23 -For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, AND TO BE WITH CHRIST; which is far better.

According to this scripture; to die is to go be with Christ in heaven. not remain in the grave with the body.

And then;

Rev 6v9-10 -And... I saw under the alter the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true,...

This verses show the souls of matyred christians crying with a loud voice and praying to God. Proving that souls and spirits stay animate, conscious and active even after death.

God bless.

he has provided an answer to your question. 1peter 4:6 answered u perfectly. How it will be done was not explained so, it is left for u to either accept or reject the truth. atheists are the ppl who alwaz come up wit such questions and no matter how u try to answer them wit the scriptures they just wnt take it because they already have their minds made-up, just asking to create debates and see if they could bring roproach to the name of God.

Bro , that means you and I can live our lives anyhow , partying , clubbing , womanising e.t.c since there is a provision to hear the gospel in death ? Dont you think ? cheesy

- that scripture said the dead , either a pastor , reverend , apostle , sinner ALL THE DEAD WILL BE PREACHED TO , my question is : why go to church for sermon every week when the fact is that how we live our lives doesnt count , only what we do when been preached to in death ?

- does this not contradict Ecc 9:10 100x Times ? Lol, no knowledge in the grave

There is no single contradiction. Eccl 9:10 is talking about sensual knowledge; works, devices, knowledge, wisdom etc while 1peter 4:6 is about spiritual knowledge. U need to know that ur spirit wii live forever either in hell or in heaven.

I didnt get you , dont you know that if 1pet 4:6 refer to spiritual knowledge then that render the dead in that verse as spiritual death too ?

spirit don't die. Opportunity will be presented to them in their celestial form before judgement. The verse is very clear but how God will do it, nobody knows.
