Medical contribution by South Africa to the world...not cocaine A ground-breaking discovery by South African scientists, which provides an important new approach that could prove useful in making an Aids vaccine, has been announced. The Centre for the Aids Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) on Monday made the announcement of the discovery of a unique feature of HIV that enables infected people to make antibodies that are able to kill a wide range of the HIV strains. http://www.sanews.gov.za/south-africa/ground-breaking-sa-discovery-could-be-useful-produce-aids-vaccine In a ground-breaking operation, a team of pioneering surgeons from Stellenbosch University (SU) and Tygerberg Hospital performed the first successful penile transplant in the world. The marathon nine-hour operation, led by Prof André van der Merwe, head of SU's Division of Urology, was performed on 11 December 2014 at Tygerberg Hospital in Bellville, Cape Town. This is the second time that this type of procedure was attempted, but the first time in history that a successful long-term result was achieved. iblawi:Tupi(S30) and Tikuna(34) are not the same. Tupi is type 209/1400 and Tikuna is type 209/1400MOD. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/brazil/tikuna.htm http://www.militaryfactory.com/ships/detail.asp?ship_id=BNS-Tikuna-S34 Ours is type 209/1400MOD. Can you see that MOD at the back? Brazil has only one modified version of type 209/1400 which was completed in 2005 and they call it tikuna-class and the two unmodified versions whose contract was signed in 1985 and commissioned in 1989. Brazil modified only one of their three boats because of financial constraints. http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/ssk-tupi/ |

agaugust:The designation has nothing to do with age It relates to the tonnage of the vessel Its a Type 209 simple. The "more modern" platform would be the Type 212. Fake military researcher |

| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 4:24pm On Sep 23, 2015 |
patches689:Nope, Egyptian subs is a new topic, we have just seen their SIPRI entry, Type 209 series 1500 now published, not the old South African type that you mumus have been saying before. You brought up old topics saying F-7 jet of 2010 is 60 years old..... patches689: |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:34pm On Sep 23, 2015 |
agaugust:If our Type 209's which were built around 2000 and delivered in 2005 are somehow 25 years old Then your F7 is 60 years old. Egyptian Type 209 is the same model as ours... just bigger Again, Egytian subs are irrelevant... does Nigeria have subs? Lol - we could be operating our ancient Daphne Class submarines and we would still be better than the Nigerian navy ![]() Behold... something that the Nigerian navy will never have!!

Chinese warplane intercepts US military surveillance aircraft over the yellow sea . . http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2015/09/23/430332/china-rc135-espionage-yellow-sea-senkaku-islands-john-mccain-gop . Cool!,you see,one thing I admire about China is that they seem to understand world dynamics to an advanced degree and they are now willing to set up the pedestal that could eventually lead to them taking charge. Unlike Russia that seem to favour excessive noise-making and misplaced use of brute force to throw unwarranted tantrums in hopes of asserting its power,China is succeeding in colonizing the world with its relatively cheap but cutting-edge emerging technology. All over the world,China has built{and is still building} light rails,monorails,high-speed rails, refineries, dams, roads, cities etc..recently,a chinese company sealed a $5 Billion deal to build a high-speed rail linking las vegas to los angeles in the US.That is soft power!. Now,China is exercising its emerging military might over the south-china sea. |

US warns that Russia's activity in Syria could lead to confrontation . . http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2015/09/23/430403/US-Russia-Syria-conflict-ISIL-Daesh- . I say,it is unlikely. However,to be realistic: it would only take a few hours for US bombers and raptors to demolish all the punny toys that Putin gifted Assad.Nothing short of the Patriot or S-400 SAM/ADS can properly defend any country's airspace against US raptors and stealth bombers. I think both Putin and Assad should be on their knees, thanking whatever deity they worship that the US isnt currently being ruled by a republican. Both the US and Russia will continue edging around each other in Syria. |

"Chinese Military Personnel Expected to Arrive in Syria On Tuesday morning, a Chinese naval vessel reportedly traveled through Egypt’s Suez Canal to enter the Mediterranean Sea; its destination was not confirmed. However, according to a senior officer in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) that is stationed inside the Syrian coastal city of Latakia, Chinese military personnel and aerial assets are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks (6 weeks) to the port-city of Tartous – he could not provide anymore detail. Russia has made it abundantly clear that they are taking an active role in this conflict, but the news of the Chinese military to Syria provides more insight into their contingency. It appears that Russia is not going to combat ISIS alone: the plan is similar to the U.S.’ idea of a “coalition” of air forces, but far more involved on the ground; this is something the U.S. and their allies have avoided since the inception of their war against ISIS. Despite all of this, Russia and the U.S. appear to be at it again; however, this is no space or arms race, they are actively flexing their muscles through their proxies (U.S.: rebels and Russia: Syrian Army)." |

agaugust:@agaugust,in my opinion,it is disturbing to compare an aircraft that features thrust vectoring nozzles and canard forewings like the SU-30MK with the F-15C that has none. However, even without the maneoverability edge, the F-15 can beat down the SU-30 in real life combat scenario due to its superior EW system.Forget the COPE '04,it was only by virtue of the restrictive rule of engagement{coupled with the fact that india pitted their best pilots against regular USAF pilots, while outnumbering them at the same time} that allowed the SU30 win the contest. In real life, when the F15 is functioning at full capacity, the SU30 is toast.F15 with its superior raytheon AESA radar,ECM and AIM-120 missiles will shoot down the SU30 with its inferior bar radar and EW system, just like what later happened at the Red Flag '08.Once the F15 jams all of the SU30 guided missiles, the rest becomes history. |

| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 12:39am On Sep 24, 2015 |
EVarn:Russia sent the best and newest Su-30 SM to Syria, they didn't send the older MK variant. Su-30 has its own EW / ECM pod and IRST, even if it's 400 km range PESA radar is jammed the 90 km range IRST thermal vision and TV camera cannot be jammed. Russia has new Novator K 100 missile superior to any rival on earth. Bros the fight go dey hot, both Su-30 and F-15 have 100% success rate in combat records. Na Dem show me I wan sidon dey look like say Rambo Vs Jackie Chan ![]() ![]() |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by EVarn(m): 12:40am On Sep 24, 2015 |
Henry120:It wont be a fair fight, the F-15E will jam the SU-30SM out of the sky before it can even begin conducting pointless acrobatic gimmicks. Modern warfare is a battle of technology, their will be no fancy WWII-style aerial dogfights that are best left for tom clancy novels: the SU-30SM will be nose-diving into the arabian desert before the pilots even realises that there is an enemy approaching them. |

|
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 12:45am On Sep 24, 2015 |
patches689:That's not a fair fight. 4th Gen vs 5th Gen. Rather Su-35 Flanker 4++ Gen Vs F-22 5th Gen. The Su-35 is built to fight stealth jets, the flanker has IRST with 90 km range, no need of radar to find a stealthy opponent. Both jets have not seen real life combat. Nobody knows the oga, the boss. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 12:46am On Sep 24, 2015 |
agaugust:Who cares if its a fair fight?? You said: agaugust:You think the Americans would send F15's? It would be F-22's and Super-Hornets First thing the Su30's would know is when they detect AIM-120D launches coming out of no-where and all their avionics freaking out because they are being jammed |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 12:48am On Sep 24, 2015 |
patches689:USA did not deploy any stealth F-22 in middle east, they only have F-15, F-16, F-18 in or around that arena. |
