thekingsmen:The PDP just have to realise that we have both the knife and the yam. I understand that Saraki will put up fight but the question is "for how long?". I believe the PDP will not want to let go of this wonderful opportunity. The APC must get use d to being opposition in the red chamber. |

Barcanista, There is a legal instrument called plea bargain, a negotiating contract used by prosecutors to win convictions by volume at a fraction of what the cost would be otherwise to the defendant. The victories are political gains for the Justice Dept. There is hardly any sitting Senator in the Legislative Chamber who, under probe and scrutiny, will pass an accountability stress-test, particularly so if in the past they were Governors or Ministers. People like Senator Stella Oduah, Senator Dickson....even people like Senator Kashamu who were just top party stalwarts have one or two high scale controversies they would gladly trade off (plea bargain) and get a clean slate than clutch to party loyalty or to Saraki and risk spending time in prison. Saraki's loudest supporter, Dino Melaye, has so far maintained silence and was not seen in his entourage to CCT Court. There is a reason for this. PDP is not in a position to protect its Senators against charges of corruption. They are not in control of Judiciary or Law Enforcement. These Senators are vulnerable and you can expect them to vote for their freedom than for party ideology. |

APC should forget about the Senate Presidency. They shall be beaten in this game. @NigerianVenom: David Mark don try, we need a new face in that office. Firefire: |

coolplanet:Bro, you are trying to act like a brilliant person but you don't even come close Please this is not an insult. I was not talking about any political party because i have a disgust towards all of them for how they made nigeria become the mess it is today but what breaks me down is the supposed "leaders of tomorrow" blowing the air out of the backside of these same corrupt politicians milking us dry |

TonyeBarcanista:They say who wants to give one a cloth to wear you first check the one he is wearing You want to teach APC politics yet you couldnt even win a Presidential election less than 6 months ago |

thekingsmen:I agree in totality of the analysis of Tonye Barcanista as well. But yours seem to be more realistic considering the way politics is played in Nigeria. I know that Saraki will come out to fight dirty until all possible avenue to keep him in office had been exhausted. |

@OpcNairaland: You can't bully "everybody" with the judiciary. Trust me there are battles you can't win. As for Dino, he's up against Smart adeyemi of PDP. Either ways, PDP wins. Welcome to 21st Century politics |

tonyebarcanista or what do u call urself u take corruption as normal thing in this country meanwhile u got no jobs due to the corruption act by ur leader in government. its so painful we are reading ur analysis as if u are part of them how will corruption will be checked in this country. it shows if u are in the government u will embezzle our treasury and take it as normal thing. that's while God won't allow u and ur generation to smell the seat at the center cos' ur heart is corrupt and we will not allow u to govern us no matter ur vocab here. |

TonyeBarcanista:Whatever party, I am indifference in this matter. We need a selfless leader and not a puppet... A leader who is not corrupt and can defend the defenseless. Btw: Who among the PDP senators are you thinking about ? |

saintopus:and dirty will he fight. Apc has through their recent actions shown that they are after saraki blood for going against party directives ; forget the talk about fighting corruption. I do not support saraki or his continous reign in the senate but i do not see him bowing out easily. |

I thought of this same strategy a few days ago when I started taking interest in the Saraki saga. It has one flaw, and a major flaw it is. MONEY POLITICS. Remember that people like Tinubu have amassed corrupt riches over the decades, and I am not sure how principled, these batch of PDP and rebel APC senators are to resist any financial inducement from Tinubu's minions. This is the only flaw to your plan, that I can think of at the moment. However all hope is not lost. I can think of two ways of countering potential Tinubu et al financial inducement of senators |

OfoIgbo:Saraki is not a poor man and same goes for the senators backing him. The APC senators who went with Saraki to the tribunal sent a loud message to party chiefs. Saraki might even increase his support cause of his defiance. |

Johnnyessence:I don't think you saw this part of the write-up However, APC and the Presidency want Saraki to go down so as to have their stooge as Senate President. They are not interested in fighting corruption. If they were, they wouldn't have brought Saraki into the Senate in the first place. If Buhari was interested in fighting corruption he wouldn't have withdrawn the N2.8 billion corruption charge against ex-Bayelsa state governor Timpre Sylva, and even gifted him with the party guber ticket for the December election. If Buhari is serious with corruption fight, he would be prosecuting Pa Abubabakar Audu on his ongoing corruption case instead of campaigning for him to return to Lokoja Government House in order to continue where he stopped in the alleged looting spree that went under him as governor between 1999 and 2003. Buhari and APC want Saraki to go down simply because they wanted total control of the Senate and also to share Senate standing committees from the comfort of Buhari's presidential lodge and Tinubu's bedroom in bourdillon road. |
