I thought they were there to worship and not to terrorise others.

Angry worshippers on Thursday attacked the President of the Senate, Dr. Olusola Saraki , the Emir of Ilorin, Alh. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, and many political figures at the Eid Praying Ground in Ilorin in protest against the state of the economy of Kwara.

The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alh. Muhammadu Bashir was not spared the wrath of the protesters.

Others who were victims of the spontaneous mob action were ex- Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Ali Ahmad, ex-Speaker Razak Atunwa( now a member of the House of Representatives) Rep Amuda Kannike, a former National Chairman of the PDP, Alh. Kawu Baraje, the Taliban of Ilorin, Prof. Oba Abdulraheem, members of the State House of Assembly, all the Baloguns, Magajis and prominent leaders in Ilorin Emirate

The protesters were said to be angry because of non-utilization of the bail out funds given to the state by the Federal Government to offset workers’ salaries.

They alleged that the bail out funds were used to offset the bill incurred on crowning Saraki as the President of the Senate.

Although the prayer was fixed for 10am, there was tension as early as 8am at the Eid Praying Ground.

It was evident that most worshippers were out for showdown because initial sermon segment of the Sallah celebration fell on deaf ears.

As Saraki and others arrived the praying ground, there was intermittent shout of “Ole! Ole!! Ole!!!(Thief, thief, thief).

Others were shouting “Ebi n pa wa!” “Ebi yii tito Saraki!””A o ki run, e fun wa lounje”( We are hungry, enough of hunger Saraki, give us food, teach us how to fish.”

The thunderous vituperations were hardly subsided when stones and missiles were thrown at the dignitaries.

The police, security agents, and members of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, battled spiritedly to curtail the protesters who remained defiant.

There were sporadic firing of teargas canisters by the police and security agents.
After about 30-minute protest, temporary calm was restored which gave way for the observance of the two Nafilats( prayers).

But as the dignitaries were filing out , the protesters started hurling missiles again.
As at press time, there was tension in Saraki’s camp over who was responsible for the attack.

Ahmed, who was probably aware of security reports, went to Share, his hometown, to observe the prayers.

Why should they stone him with stones and water, the man is still a leader. For crying out loud he's still the Senate President. It only shows the level of animalistic behavior some people have if they can start stoning the senate President just because he's being tried in court and has not even be found guilty yet. Even animals respect their leaders so why can't we just for the mean time respect ours.

You are one big fool not actually for typing this nonsense but for calling the protesting masses animals. Actually , if you take your time to read what necessitate the stoning and protesting then you will see that they haven't cross their lines. These set of people acquire the wealth meant for the while people for their self interest and yet they are proud to show it to your face. I mean they are doing worse, are you aware of many people that are currently into trouble because they couldn't get the money they worked for. Let me tell you this if they reject the thieves there's is no problem with that. And mind you they are leaders because the people make them that so there's nothing to their bin leaders. And finally for every action there's equal and opposite reaction. This set of elements can't keep stealing from the workers, killing the masses and expect a pat on the back it's just not possible.

My brother even if what the protesters did was not the best, I pray that you do not find yourself in their shoes to know how it feels. Our leaders do not pity any ordinary citizen all they care for is their self. It bothers them not if you die of poverty or not.

Please allow them to air their views. They did not complain that Saraki was tried but since he is a leader as you noted they just want to air their views.

I pray you do not find yourself in their shoes one day. Sometimes table do turn!

Who will collect these signatures and prove that they are not forged?

How much will it cost? - in naira and logistics

If you go that route - you are almost saying it is impossible to recall a senator

And the question of getting 2/3rd of registered voters - considering some ghosts registered during the last election.

Let's just say by 2019 the people will have another chance except something significant happens before then

Comments from Kwara state are real and genuine, people commenting outside Kwara state are commenting on national issue. Saraki has lost integrity at home and the only regret i have for today is that my stone didn't break his windscreen. Saraki is the Governor of Kwara state if don't know, Fatai is just a caretaker. He thought we will hail him that is why he was present at today's prayer ground. The last two months own he didn't show face because there is info that he will be stone. So comments from Kwara state are not of politics at all, own me 5 month salary and just about 8:30pm last night i received alert of one month and you want me to sit down with the same man and pray to God when the money is already in the state account. Please think about this and stop being biased.

The protesters were said to be angry because of non-utilization of the bail out funds given to the state by the Federal Government to offset workers’ salaries.

During the presidential election campaign, APC and their gullible brainwashed supporters never agreed that Sarakis are a corrupt family holding Kwara State down for decades.

They hailed Saraki when he was helping them to condemn Goodluck their dreaded Igbo enemy.

Today, they are now stoning Saraki and calling him a thief just because he's not dancing to the tone of the APC god fathers, shame on you people!

The same way we have been crying and shouting that Tinubu is a thief and the father of corruption holding Lagos state down for decades now....installing his family members and puppets in every available political position, yet the gullible people of Lagos and Yorubas keep hailing Tinubu and calling him father of politics.

Tomorrow when karma start to reward Tinubu and his family, you people should please allow us to rest and carry your cross on your own.

It is only in Yoruba states that one man, one family will hold a whole state in ransom for years without the people revolting against it.

Uba family tried it in Anambra and they didn't find it funny, its high time Yoruba people wake up and stop playing tribal politics of dancing to the music played by one family for years!

It is also time Lagos people rise up and stone Tinubu and his entire family for holding State down!

Without Tinubu, Lagos state will be as developed as New York with the amount of internally generated fund....but the Jagaban has hypnotised all Lagosians and Yoruba people just like Saraki!
