Am asking your understanding of what a nation state is or country not the Webster version, which I don't know whether thier definition is at variance with yours.. Reading your inferences there seems to be some disagreement.

Roban stores offers convenient shopping for me anytime I'm in Enugu. I stay at Roban Hotels at Ukwa street and just walk down to the stores. The guys stock quality items and the staff are courteous.

I think one of the reasons why Igbos invested in Lagos was because it was a former federal capital and amenities were readily available unlike other areas in Nigeria but today Lagos is no longer the Federal capital, has become extremely congested and unlivable while other cities can now boast of modest advancement in infrastructure. Again, I have noticed that Igbos are increasingly investing at home more than ever before. the likes of Charles Ugwu's Ebony rice at Ebonyi state, Barth Nnaji's Geometric at Abia state. Innocent Chukwuma's IVM automobiles at Anambra state. Ibeto's cement plant at Ebonyi state. Neimeth at Anambra and numerous other ones both small and medium that were recently built which I can't list here. I believe that two things made it possible, one is that communication, with the advent of GSM and relatively cheap internet as well as the insecurity in the North. I also believe that with the increased hostility towards Igbos in Lagos, the trend will increase eastwards. S.East is not doing badly at present because aside Lagos/Ogun region, the S.E probably has the highest investment rates in recent times. Having said that, the S.East governors have done badly in making S.east attractive and conducive to investors and T.A Orji was a disaster, Aba is the industrial capital of Igboland but go to Aba and see the state T.A Orji left the place. I like what Sullivan Chime did to Enugu city because Igbo elites used to complain that one of the reasons why they have stayed put in Lagos and Abuja is because no where in the S.E is up to standard but today Enugu can be compared to Abuja to an extent and is now attracting Igbo elites. People like Barth Nnaji did great by building geometric in Aba to at-least give Aba an edge over others but a fellow Igboman in the person of Emeka Offor is trying to frustrate him while nobody, not even our governors, Ohanaeze or Igbo journalists/intellectuals could call him to order undecided undecided If we can enhance our cities especially Aba, Onitsha, Enugu, Nnewi, Owerri etc it will help a great deal.

How can we make the best use of our large urban population? What products can we aim to manufacture that can be useful to many, solve environmentally unique problems and yet keep the inventor in the profit, I have an idea......

In Achara layout, as in most parts of Enugu urban water is a problem, boreholes are not cheap or reliable and even wells are not lasting enough. What can we do about the water situation? Is it not possible to locally develop a technology that purifies well water so it could be potable?
I thought you said wells are not lasting ? So, rule that one out.
Boreholes are reliable in my opinion, it only needs power supply which a generator can do.
Each landlord should be mandated to have a borehole in his house or what do you think?

The Federal Government is responsible for that road, not us.

Nobody blames "Yoruba leaders" or "Yoruba people" for the state of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

We should stop falling for cheap distractions and hold the Federal Government responsible.

you did not understand the context in which I said 'us'..he earlier wrote that fg (which is right) did not do anything about those rds because other parts of the country who controlled fg wanted to suffer the se( now this is where I have a bit of issue with because 'our men' where also influential in the last fg but still nothing)

One thing I know is that anybody that think SE isn't developing need his or her brain ransacked.

Go to Awka, Onitsha and Asaba and see what we call massive development.

Three things I think are the main reason while Igboland is witnessing unprecedented development.

1. Boko Haram in North have really help to fuel development in Igboland though it still have the negative side.

2. Nnamdi Kanu of Radio Biafra has really instill to much panic in people, many think Nigeria is crumbling today or tomorrow.

3. Igbophobia and anti-Igbo sentiments being propagated in social media is really shaping how Igbos are seeing Nigeria. Igbos are the most bashed group in social media, now some people have started withdrawing their numerous engagements with other tribes because you don't know who is habouring evil for you.

That is what many people don't understand, Lack of FG projects in other places are blame on FG but lack of FG projects in Igboland are blamed on Igbo leaders.

Collapse of Federal roads in other places are blame on FG but in Igboland Ndigbo and other ethnic groups blame it on Igbo people.

Even insecurity in North was made a federal responsibility while Shettima won second term but when Osisikankwu kidnapped school kids in Aba the entire Igbo nation descended on TA Orji and not FG.

We need to start being formless in Nigeria Ndigbo

This is how we waste our time with self flagellation.

Obasanjo and Jonathan were both president, what did they do for their respective regions?

We need to finally come to terms with the problem, the problem is Nigeria as currently structured. The Federal Government is near useless and our only hope as Ndigbo is devolution of power and restructuring of this federation.

Not struggling for oil rents.

If our people were top members in the senate and didn't for once bring it to the senate, then we should blame our people for the bad roads in the east. If our leaders had gone to abuja with a singular mindset of making our region open, they would've achieved one thing in the past administration.

Igbos should blames their leaders when opportunities like this get into our hands but we couldn't use it. We should understand that these opportunities don't come easily.

NAIJASOM:
I will give you a step by step summary on how to accomplish this.

1) Build a reservoir: A reservoir is a man made body of water solely for the purpose of storing water.
2) Channel the city drainage system to the reservoir to supply rain water.
3) Build a water treatment plant next to the reservoir.
4) Supply the treated water through network of pipes to neighboring homes and communities.

Thank you for the above points, and please let us keep the discussion alive since we might produce a wining idea from it that might solve some of our environmental problems.

I have a question, on whose land will this reservoir be?

I am asking this question because I was looking at a business where one man can invest, run, employ people and expand his services when the demand sets in. I am not thinking of a government owned or funded venture (we all know in whose accounts the funds will end cheesy)

Who will allow you channel waste water into your reservoir when everyone can lay claim to it, or siphon the supply for irrigation purposes? How can we do this successfully? Who do you have in mind that can run this, the town council, or a private firm?

Spyder for this to work, it has to be a Public-Private Partnership. it cannot be solely public or private.

The basic roles of the government include:

1) Donating land with a suitable topography for the project.
2) Building the city drainage system and channeling it to the reservoir.
3) Concession of the reservoir to a construction company to build, manage and transfer.

The basic roles of the private sector include;
1) Construction and management of the reservoir and water treatment plant.
2) Building of water pipelines neighboring towns or estates.
3) Installation of water meters in homes.
4) Delivering water with trucks to customers that don't have pipelines but have water tanks (weekly or monthly contract)

All these above only applies if you are building a "large reservoir". BUT, If its a small or medium sized reservoir being built "inside a Housing Estate", a private company can handle everything without government intervention.

Multiple reservoirs (small, meduim and large) can be built all around Enugu city and surrounding estates. Just build a successful one in a model estate and see how fast developers will adopt the idea.

Its a great thing that old park is being redeveloped into a modern shopping site. My concern is that the place with those bungalow shops doesn't look good and may infact be a waste of land space. i think what is worth doing is worth doing properly. We could have had those types of open shops in Warri, Abuja or Jos.

Abroad they divert part of a river such an Ekulo river and it feeds the municipal water works for filtration and purification.

Then the water is moved with big pipes to different areas of the city, from where they are distributed in smaller pipes into home and a meter measuring the amount of water that entered each home (Like the meter measuring the quantity of fuel at the filling station) is used to measure water quantity and a bill is sent to that hose at the end of the month. Small contractors are used by city water board to read meters and issue the bill. In each bill is a surcharge (Commission) given to contractors for their help in running the system.
