I came to this forum when looking at ideas to invest in Nigeria. I have decided to come back home after years of leaving abroad. I know it will be difficult for my son but I have come to understand that they are more opportunities in Nigeria than what is seem outside Nigeria.
Thank God for the trend I have been more inspired by this.
Guys see u soon as I am at the final arrangement of coming home. Jasper I will call and we relate. Though I am looking at a different angel on investment but I have some piece of lands that I am not making use of. I can put them into good use. Agriculture gives hope and happiness. Looking at ur crops grow is enough to give you more years. Thanks everyone that made this trend a great master piece. I am pride of Nigeria.

Okay let me answer your questions first
1. Yes, good observation. Now, alot of farmers fight with weed and cost of weeding is very high. So... the polythene is used as a form of mulching film. This is common practise in developed countries. It makes the plant grow faster and healthier. Because at the early stage, the plant does not have to contend with weed. It is an integral part of my land preparation before planting. Cause it saves cost of weeding and stress. Below you'll see a typical example of my mulching.

2. It is not compulsory to plant in nursery trays. But if you want, its usually after the third leaf appears. You can plant directly, to avoid the stress. There is no direct disadvantage in doing so. Except you have a hard soil.

3. The seed are of different species, they have been genetically enhanced/engineered to serve different purpose. Depends on what you need, determines the price of the seed. I have the Thai Agro group here who sell seeds. The seeds cost about 3-4 Naira per one approximately. They cheapest pack is N200. With about 65 seeds inside. But for intending farmers who join their farm network, they give free seeds for test/exhibition farm.

4. I am currently in owerri where my major farms are based. But spend quite sometime in Lagos. Maybe when next I visit lagos I'll give you a one on one turorial. cheesy
Pls how can I get in contact with them here in Edo or Imo state.... God bless.

Thanks to this thread, I ventured into cucumber farming about 9 months ago. These periods have been filled with failures, success, trial by error learning from experience across several states and in different seasons. I must say a big thank you to jasper7 for his 'opening my eyes' to the opportunities in the Cucumber Value Chain, but the greatest thanks goes to Jehovah for his mercies and guidance.

In this light, I am inviting any who has 4 Saturdays to spare in October, 2015 to a life changing Agribusiness Master class styled training in Cucumber Farming Setup and Management. Participants will be given treated seeds and will be guided on how to turn those seeds into quality fruits that will command good market price within their communities.

Venue: Epe, Lagos

Dates: 3rd, 10th, 24th and 31st October, 2015.

Time: 9am - 12pm and 1pm to 4pm

Registration and Training Fee: NGN25,000

you got the information for free from jasper who didn't charge any of us any money for this even directed all on how to go about it, just that he has been busy with his farm and now u want to charge others for a fee. Nigerians you guys can surprise me. anyway Good luck

I would have chosen to ignore you but for clarification sake, what I will teach in the Master Class I didn't learn free...I learnt through many failures and money loss. I am not doing the training to recover my money, if I did...I will have to train over a 100 people to achieve that!

Let me state some facts, no one will give u seeds, several hours of one-on-one consultancy, chemicals , fertilizers and materials for FREE...the problem with people on this forum is they read less and talk more...NEXT

but jasper asked those interested to visit his farm to learn and informed them the company that sold they seed(we all know the seed isn't for free) he even went further to discuss about his failures and gain so tell me, what else you think you can offer that others can't read and go through the same process you did or do you have the impression that those in this forum are lazy, read less as you said and aren't challenging individuals to undergo such stress you went through.
if you intend to help others in this forum as jasper did, start by offering them unpaid internship "they work for you for a month or more while they learn" you got nothing to loose rather you have more man power and support you need.
you can educate them on the same forum you learnt this on how you did yours(if you used different tactics or procedure from what jasper thought) and got that final result i saw from your farm pics.
Many ways you can educate others and not by paid consultation my guy, lets help each other in building the future youths of this nation called Nigeria. Thanks...NEXT if you got more to add

Kalusam.

Good day, I agree with you that no knowledge is free and it's your prerogative to charge whatever you want to but it would be nice to make it in such a way that would be beneficial to all.

Maybe your students should contribute through labour and small fee for seeds etc

It's your call though.
