Ive never seen entertainers as eager for US/Europe recognition as Nigerian artistes. You'd never hear of any other nation's stars always running to US/UK/GErmany to give themselves awards or perform to the immigrant community or desperately seek to meet the indigenous celebs just so their fawning fans can tear their hair out in frenzied hero-worship. its shameful. you dont need to force your way into Jay Z or Chris Brown's lives to be validated as a talent. Jim Iyke is busy running to and fro in Atlanta looking for movie deals, P Square is in New York hoping to perform with Jay Z, Davido is in London launching his Nigerian-oriented album. And the funny thing is, on an international scale, these nonentities are talentless hacks. 6 Likes 1 Share |

murphyibiam15: Oh, ive come across such people. They can happen to be among the groupies too, and are full of venom. One little punk even called me poor simply because i condemn the lies and hype behind the excess display of wealth and consumerism by the so-called celebs. Im yet to hear any ground-shaking single or blockbuster movie, but the stars are busy instagramming photos of shoes, bags, phones, tattoos, cars, toilets, vacations, babies, bikinis, stretchmarks, nose hair, and bleached skin. And to their fans, THIS is entertainment, THIS is what they paid for. smh. I've got a gaddamn opinion and im going to say it, screw the drooling groupies and crazies. 4 Likes |

SirWere: Who give a sh!t about the U.S charts; or are they the standard for measuring "good music". My man appreciate what you have. If Psquare breaks Nigerian and African charts with a song which they have Jay-z on, that would be a huge success. Let Americans keep their charts to themselves after all there top musicians don't break our charts here in Africa; we gat our own talented artists. 2 Likes |

SirWere: Its as a result of the inferior mentality of our artists and fans as well and its very very sad. If the likes of Sunny Ade or Osita Osadebe had this mentality, they would have had Michael Jackson on one their songs. Infact it would have been a battle among Nigerian musicians of the late 70s and 80s to have Michael Jackson on their albums irrespective of the fact that he does a different genre of music. Who knows, maybe we would have heard Michael Jackson's voice on Fela's "Beast of no nation". Luckily these guys and their colleagues in the Nigerian music industry at that time didn't think that way. They loved and appreciated what they did. But today most of our musicians are just a bunch of "wannabees". No wonder you always hear the familiar phrase from them at every show "DJ! Roll me the beat!" Instead of playing live they just come jumping all over the stage, miming their already recorded songs. *Abeg make I listen to "Omoge" by Mike Okri take cool body dis afternoon |
