@bold...it is the same way Igbo parents prefer their kids marrying from within their region. I guess it all balances out at the end of the day. No tribe should be singled out as being 'tribal bigots'.
Yea basically Majority of yoruba's, majority of igbo's and majority of Hausa's prefer their children to marry within their own tribe and for the most part majority of Nigerians marry with in their Tribe any way and I see nothing wrong with that or see it as being a tribal bigot, to me it's more of cultural pride. All cultures and races are like that in the world today, the indians, arabs and etc are all like that. I have no problem with intertribal though. However the only time intertribal becomes a problem is when people within their respective culture, race, group and etc attack other groups or their own for justification for marrying out(not extreme with Nigerians though).

Don't know what to make of this thread.

Igbos, once in a great while, do marry outside their tribe, though its not generally encouraged. Its been this way since forever. Its no reason to call Igbos bigots.

And there's nothing wrong in wanting to marry Igbo.

What exactly is the point of this thread? To bash Igbo's? You wanted answers and they gave you answers but yet you are upset because it is not what you wanted to hear.

The truth is most people prefer to be with their own. There is nothing wrong with it and I doubt things will change. You don't need to stress yourself about what Igbo's do or don't do. If you are afraid to date one because they may marry one of their own then rather avoid such relationships. I just find it annoying when everyone wants to pick on Igbo's and find fault in everything they do.

When whites want to be with whites are they racist? Even Indians themselves to want to be within their own cast. I have nothing against inter-cultural relationships or marriages after all my parents are from different countries however people should feel free to marry who they choose too. If Igbos want to marry within its their right to do so. People need to do what works best for them period. This has nothing to do with bigotry

For those who lack comprehension of the overall question this thread generated;this thread was intended to seek answers to the reason Igbo's don't promote intertribal marriage..it was meant as a quest to understand the Igbo tradition as relate to outsiders..get off my radar and mentions if you are a fvcked up r3tard...I don't do b*tch3s..contribute meaningfully as an intelligent and enlightened person for the sake of educating outsiders about the Igbo's and value or lack of it as the case may be...of intertribal marriage...I still got love for my Igbo people.. one love

your use of curse words is quite impressive.....yet uncalled for. remember you don't have a monopoly in curse words.

I read the lady's point and it was crystal clear, or were you disappointed for not getting the response you expected? pls, easy does it.

Personally I see nothing wrong with inter-tribal marriages. Despite differences in ethnic languages and festivals we all the same. Inter-tribal marriage is beautiful.
Re: Igbo Men And Inter- Tribal Marriage by Nobody:
A lady who insults like this shouldn't be married into the Igbo nation.

Cursing is unIgbo, people like you should be avoided so as not to transfer the cursing gene into the Igbo family.

No. Don't quote me wrong. I never said what you are suggesting. I said they are not 'independent minded ENOUGH' to travel out to other regions. By the qualifier, 'enough', it automatically tells you that some Yorubas may be independent minded but not to the extent of the easterners. Please learn to read and understand words carefully.
nope....
Enough means not measuring up to something. If I say you are not Independent enough to go rent a house of your own, or you are not smart enough to pass a course.... What else does that mean? stop sounding like I am not smart enough to see what you meant.
Most Nigerian cities over 500,000 are outside the SE anyways, so the opportunities there are quite limited.
Hahahahahaha bigfrancis ooo, this guy no go kee me oo.

One of the few reasons I come on this board is to read threads from halfwits like the Op and classic misfirings of my good amigo bigfrancis21, it gives me the kick whenever I need it.

Re: Igbo Men And Inter- Tribal Marriage by Afam4eva(m): 5:28pm On Oct 03, 2015
bigfrancis21:
Lots of Yoruba families in the south west specifically warn their children not to marry any 'omo ibo'. Some Igbos who have dated outside their ethnic group have consistently faced this discrimination within their own country. Even some half yoruba half igbo people in relationships with full yorubas have been told by their yoruba spouses to hide the fact that they are Igbo from their yoruba spouse's parents. Some Yoruba families would never let their children marry Igbos.

I hope you are aware of this?
It's not fair to say that this is only common with the Yorubas. The same can also be said of some Igbo families.

Afam4eva:

And where did he say that?

The OP is the one implying that it is only common with the Igbo's and that Igbo's are bigoted for not marrying out. Bigfrancis21 countered by letting her know that all ethnic groups (not just Igbo) overwhelmingly prefer to marry from their ethnicity. Your post, if anything, should be directed at the OP
