By Rotimi Olaleye Ado-Ekiti—Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, yesterday confirmed that he had no intention to pay outstanding pensions and gratuities from the states bail-out fund of N9.6 billion. According to him his government only got N9.6 billion out of the over N29 billion it applied for. Retirees in the state had last week alleged that the governor had excluded the payment of their pension arrears and gratuities from the Federal Government’s bail-out. Fayose made the clarification yesterday at Ikogosi-Ekiti during the opening ceremony of a two-day retreat for commissioners, permanent secretaries and heads of agencies. He also stated that out of the N5.6 billion applied for by the 16 local governments in the state, the FG only approved N991 million, adding that pension arrears and gratuities were also not approved. In a statement in Ado-Ekiti by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor said the clarification became necessary following insinuations that the state government did not want to pay pensions arrears and gratuities of retirees. Governor Fayose said, “You people know that I don’t hide anything from you when allocations come. We applied for N29 billion from the bail-out fund. It is to cover the August and September 2014 salary arrears left by the Fayemi government, leave bonus, pensions, gratuities and others. But for reasons we don’t know yet, the FG only approved N9.6 billion for salaries leaving other issues. “The 16 local governments applied for N5.6 billion and we did all the necessary papers and presented them to the appropriate authorities, but only N991 million was approved. We were later told by the Central Bank of Nigeria that about 14 states had similar problems with the small amount approved for local governments. of all the governore that should apply for loan, i do not see the reason fayose should be included. no single capital project is accredited to him except him buying food from locals. ok i now remember, he ran dead wishes for one man and was also the first to congratulate the man. i know the state has little IGR but with the FG allocation, he should cater for the concurrents |

I guess he has used previous state funds in eating amala/pounded by the roadside in his many stunts and has also bought vegetables in the market with them. His son, Tomiwa Ayo Fayose, is balling like a Saudi Arabian prince and he's claiming state's resources is not enough to pay pension arrears and gratuity. For a man who glories in public stunts, please expect no more. BTW, who goes to the market and cuts his/her own fish by himself/herself ![]()

You cannot pay gratuities and pensions but you can give your lazy son money to buy expensive cars. May God punish any governor who is still owing salaries despite the release of bail-out funds. |

Fayose os being reasonable here. He has state the amount of money he received from yhe FG for the state and local govt and specifically said the money is not mearnt for owed salary arrears by the previous govt of the state (Fayemi) so pensioners and others it may concern should keep calm wen the money for arrears show up he will settle them... As far as you get the 3-4 salary he's owing and the subsequent ones to come, it's better than nothing. He is not like Aregbesola or Ajimobi who has decided to suffer the people of Osun and Oyo state respectively. I heard from a state govt worker that Ajimobi is paying a month salary 3 or 4 times and thats only for the junior workers, and most senior workers are yet to receive a dime. At least Fayose felt he owe them an explanation which he had given well, he's better off other governors that feel they owe any worker or the people of their state any explanation. |

Fayose is talking rubbish. So the bail out he was given, what does he intend to do with it? If not for cries of unpaid salaries and entitlement all over the country, would there even be a kobo of bailout? |

Demdem:pls for those who are ignorant of the evil called fayemi. that man borrwed alot of money and there was ntin tangible to show for it. immediately fayemi lost the election, he didnt pay the salary of workers for august and September. kudos to fayose for paying workers salary till august of this month, am sure he will soon pay that of this month. ekiti people are satisfied with fayose. fayose might be radical, outspoken nnd be a drama king bt he has not forgotten why he was voted into office neither did he leave ekiti people to suffer. Fayemi is more educated bt lacks the will power to better the life of ekiti people. oshokomole ride on sir. ekiti waleyin e |
