Re: Ogun State Stops Payment Of Corp Members by samguru(m): 10:01am On Oct 04, 2015
NYSC is solely a Federal Government Scheme and it is expected that your allowances should come from Federal Government and NOT from both State and Federal Governments.

The role of state Government in the scheme is to provide platform to host and accommodate you through out your stay in the state, but due to the magnanimity of some states or should I say ALL,they resolved to be supporting Corps Members by paying them stipend to cushion the cost of living in there various states, naturally this is meant to be privilege and not your right!.

@ OP, if The State Government decided to stop paying this allowance due to the financial burden that has bedeviled most of the states, I think they have not violated any law neither cheated you.

my advice to you is to be patient with them, they might pay the backlogs before/after Passing out parade, and if they default, just take it as an act of National Sacrifice and focus on job hunt.

Ajuwaya weeeeee ooooooooooo??

I'm a Bach A presently serving corper in Ogun state and we were told at the secretariat during registration coz i redeploy down here, that Amoson said there is no money to pay corpers!
I Have prepared my mind already expecting nothing by the time im done here.
But its so bad and cruel for ogun state govt not to pay corpers 5k when other states are paying 10k and above!!

Mr op, u don't have to complain. I served in Kaiama local govt, kwara state which is about 6hrs journey from Ilorin compared to about 4hrs journey from Lagos to Ilorin and the state govt didn't pay us a dime!

Service year is meant to serve your fatherland, we people often expect that we get something in return for our service to others.. the federal allowee is the most important, all others are secondary, they are not a must. the govt can choose to cancel wateva remuneration they had planned to give corps members.

when you know you need money, why didn't u organization private classes and home teachings the way we did then in the villages. parents were eager to bring their kids cuz they wanted them to be like us too. stop depending on the govt for survival.

For serving in ogun state government schools in the "rural areas", the state government pays corp members an allowance of 5000 naira monthly. Though this allowance is not accessible by the corper till the end of the service year when a total of 55,000 naira Is paid. As a serving and soon-to passout corper serving in odogbolu LG, we started noticing some irregularities in the payment of this allowances from the outgone batch B.
Now, after working for a year the Amosun led administration has decided to scrap corpers allowee and leave we outgoing batch C corpers hanging! This is total injustice. But under the NYSC laws we are not allowed to protest. I hereby plead with the mods to move this to the appropriate quarters and let's discuss all of us that ar suffering this same fate

There is NO injustice here... NYSC pays Corpers... State allowance is just a bonus and not mandatory of the states. It's just an incentive, That's Why some states Don't pay (Imo, Edo, Benue, etc)...

So Mate, there is NO injustice here. It's a Christmas gift that stopped coming... You can't blame Santa

I'm sure you have not served, amd if you have, you never read your hand book. Every organization is suppsd to provide a room with a matrass, a table and a chair for every corp member, but because most states don't have these in place, that's why the pay the so called "state allowance". So if he is to scrap it, is all the necessary things in place

A lodge is provided in all LGA of NIGERIA... Tho I know most Don't have enough space to contain all Corps members...

And I repeat, state allowance is not compulsory. It's a selfless service and not a Job... Why Don't you tell the state that Don't pay at all since time immemorial that they are not just for refusing to pay Corpers...

THE VAST MAJORITY OF OGUN STATE (EXCEPT ABEOKUTA, IJEBU ODE, IJEBU IGBO, SANGO OTA, ETC) IS RURAL. IN ALL PROBABILITY, THE STATE GOVERNMENT HAS USED THIS SCHEME TO STEAL FUNDS.
Re: Ogun State Stops Payment Of Corp Members by butanep(m): 12:41pm On Oct 04, 2015
Op you have to accept it that way. State alawee is a choice from state government which is not ought to be so because corps members are taking position of their insufficient human power in their organization.

If not for corps members, some public schools will have nothing to offer their students. Corpers need to be compensated for such service they are rendering the state by state government. I think it is time NYSC review their laws.

I served in Kwara state, It was terrible. We were told from camp no state alawee. We had no choice than to face reality. Even my PPA paying 1,500 was holding me over 5months alawee before I left. They keep complaining the useless saraki refused to pay them, so the PTA money meant for corpers was now shared among the teachers to keep them going. I pity state workers in Kwara state.

I just had my fun . I was a "mobile corper" if not I wouldn't have achieved anything during service.

Just see it as selfless service but service yourself during the process.
