Budget Jump for Nigeria @50:Yar’adua - N62 million - Jonathan : N10 billion

The Federal Government’s 2010 budget proposals submitted by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua to the National Assembly last November proposed to spend only N62 million to celebrate this country’s 50th Independence anniversary in October but President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration later hiked it to N10 billion, Daily Trust’s checks revealed. The N10 billion proposal is contained in the 2010 Supplementary Budget proposals sent to the National Assembly by President Jonathan two weeks ago.

In the original 2010 budget proposal, N7.4 million was requested for the Information and Communication Ministry to celebrate Independence Day, while N52 million was requested for the Interior Ministry and another N2.9 million was voted for the Police Affairs Ministry.
Yar’adua did not plan a lavish 50th anniversary as there were no budget provisions for the Presidency, the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) or any other ministries that are now to spend billions of naira for the October party.

The man believed dat d ND was more important, the power sector reforms was more important, gettin consensus in deregulatin d petroleum sector was more important and not some lavish celebration of 50yrs of failed oportunities.


Jonathan simply believes dat Nigeria will not be 50yrs old twice, so no mata which way it goes its all good, just shows d difference in temperaments nd passion 4 d nation.


Jonathan believes dat we stil hav a reason 2 celebrate while Yaradua sees no reason 2 celebrate.


This info may not be enuf 2 giv credit 2 d man but when u put it side by side with his takin a paycut, reducin d budget of U17 world cup championship, his call for d removal of immunity clause then we can c wat dat man meant 4 dis country.

before u crucify Daily Trust you must know just one thing.
Daily Trust did not fraudulently quote "credible source(s)" in
the whole story as other papers do.

It compared the budget proposal sent by Yar,adua and the one by
Goodluck Jonathan.

Muza u are wrong, if u had cared to read the story, u wld have seen
that it was a public document that was quoted; this document is open
to the public and all journalists just that[b] Daily Trust went the extra mile [/b]

People seem to have the belief that Goodluck means well for this country so, we should be happy. What was his achievement as a Governor in Bayelsa State? He did nothing in that state and his wife has a case hanging over her. The guy is probably a bigger thief than Yar Adua.

Can you check the internet on how this PROPOSAL to amend the budget was REJECTED by our senators and representatives from holy holy APCheat that is presenting Audu Abubakar for Kogi governorship so he can refund $11 billion he stole.
