Americans rejected McCain and his ilks when it comes to Presidential elections. Americans have seen the horrors of war and overwhelming majority abhors war if America is not attacked. Two of my nephews served in Iraq and still have psychological effects on both that one of them relocated to canada. It will take some time given that the biggest power houses in the region, UAE/Saudi Arabia, Qatar, are close allies of the US. Iran as well seems to be warming up to the US given the Nuclear Deal recently signed by both parties.
