The problem here is that Amaechi has failed woefully in other criteria having been already been indicted for fraud to the tune of N 97billion!! Amaechi is not a former Senator either and hence the bow and go rule cannot be applied to him

8 years as a speaker and 8 years as a governor is more than qualified to be a minister.

Ameachi for Niger Delta and Fashola for FCT

Why would you want to make someone who has no standing in most parts of the niger-delta, a minister for niger-delta?
You want amaechi to start fighting with governors on the streets, because he is going to need to work with them.
I expect buhari to make him minister for power or works since you guys claim amaechi is credible enough.
Making him a niger-delta minister is going to be a very big mistake.

The way these senators are talking, u can see that they don't have any plans of leaving the corridors of power any time soon. Talking of it might be your turn tomorrow and all that. We just recycling same criminals and will continue for a very long time apparently. We need someone like Jerry Rawlings to deliver the country.

Past lawmakers cover former senators, honourables of both the HoR and state houses of assembly. Amaechi was the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly (1999-2007). He was also the Chairman of Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly.

Amaechi fought for Rivers people when he challenged Jonathan over the ceding of oil wells belonging to Rivers State to Bayelsa State.

I can't imagine Amaechi and co trying to lobby for ministerial posts. Has that post become so lucreative such that ex-governors now now see it as the next big thing. Politics should be made less attractive so only true leaders can aspire for political posts

This country is a joke. So Vendetta is all there is to it? Not because Amaechi is qualified but because he will have the opportunity to fight his enemies if confirmed. Appointing Amaechi was a plot by Hausa/Fulani to keep Niger Delta from experiencing the peace and development it desperately needs knowing quite well that Amaechi has a lot of issues there, and if confirmed minister will likely pursue personal interests.

First off, I think a president should be allowed the freedom to select the people he thinks would help him achieve his goals for the country. After all, by their votes, the people have shown they have confidence in the president. So I think Amaechi should be approved by the senate.
But are you really proud of what he did in Rivers State as governor with the huge resources at his disposal? Do you really believe he will perform as a minister when he could not perform as a governor? And he is not even humble enough to go to his state's commission of enquiry to defend allegations of corruption against him.
I have no confidence in this regime of Buhari. I hope I will be proved wrong.

Its quite pathetic how nigerian youths (the supposedly leaders of tomorrow) reason. Amaechi that wasted 8 years as rivers governor and embezzled its funds to fund buhari's campaign could now become a minister without clearing his name. I am not against amaechi but d fact that some of my fellow youths defend these corrupt people shamelessly just shows dat nigeria's future looks very bad indeed.
