GOVERNOR David Umahi of Ebonyi State weekend stated that his administration and the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP would not engage in “needless opposition” against President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

He stated this when he met a team of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state who paid him a condolence visit at his country home, Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state

According to him, the State has a lot of challenges and it would make no sense for it to embark on any form of “senseless opposition.”

However, he was quick to add that supporting Buhari’s programmes did not in any way mean that he and other members of the PDP in the state would abandon their party.

“A number of people who like to jump from one place to the other have been asking me and I said look, we are in PDP and we remain in PDP but we are supporting the programmes of Mr. President.

“We like what he is doing in the fight against corruption. You can see honesty in his administration and his commitment to rebuild Nigeria. I share certain virtues with him.

“We as a state will continue to support him. To oppose him is to oppose the truth but as we support him, we have to support our party, the PDP, so that together we can stand.

“We will not engage in needless opposition to the FG. When election comes we can divide along party lines but immediately after, we can come together as a people to build the nation.

“Ebonyi State has a lot of challenges and we will not engage in senseless opposition to the central government. We will offer constructive opposition and advise. I believe that what people misconstrue as opposition is advise. When things are going well you need to commend, there is no need to advise or oppose.

“I want you (PDP leaders in the state) to continue to keep our party together and remain stronger.”

says who? Who's he that he can't be opposed? Is he greater than Ghadafi,Mugabe,Putin,Obama and the host of other renown men who get severe scrutiny and opposition from their populace?

It's one thing for you to anonymously say what you like about him on the pages of NL or any blog, but it is a totally different ball game for any of our CURRENT CROP OF POLITICIANS to oppose him given their past anticedents, on what grounds will they oppose him if I may ask? On PRINCIPLE or that they MEAN WELL FOR THE COUNTRY MORE THAN HE DOES.
