it depends on which type of ponds and sytem you are operating . Both only have very little diffrence.... the general practice is that 1. if u are transporting them dont feed before and after stocking for a day interval .... 2.. make sure the ph is ok between 6 to 6.8 for fingerlings or juvenile ....3.. to prevent shock of the fish u need acclamatise them by leaving them in the transport container inside the stocking pond for few minutes and gently allowing water in the stocking pond to mix gradually with water in your transport container before finally allowing them to swim freely into your stocking pond ... the mix of both water allows for easy acclamatisation of your fishes reduce chock cause by temperatur diffrence and overall wellness...4. best to stock at night or early morning when the sun is down or not up yet.....finally add anti stress to the pond or feed. ..its multivitamin you can get everywere ...GOOD LUCK

We are currently setting up the hatcheries, one of the hatcheries will be only plastic vats while the other will be concrete.. we are starting out with the plastic vats setting up a simple semi recirculatory system passing through an alkanizer. The pump rotates the treated water round all the 30 spawning vats then passes through the alkanizer and back to the vat..The white tank is the alkanizer it contains resins, oyster fine sand. Rotation will be done 12 hours daily for assurance that they have good dissolved oxygen. The bio disc will also be set up.. Once we are done with the whole set up we move to construction of the tilapia ponds

it ranges from area to area (washed or unwashed)
in south south area (N7000 to N10000)
in the northern area (N12000 to N15000)

1: Please get the following items; Salt 10KG, Wood ash (eeru) as many as possible (I will advise you visit a bakery), Oxytetracycline ( can be found where you buy floating feeds) N800 worth is fine.


2) Block the water both inlet and outlet. Do NOT allow any water to enter or go out


3) Drain the water... and leave little water to cover their body


4) Mix the three items stated in 1 above, and sprinkle it in your pond in such a way that it circulate round, also make sure you apply to the bagging inside the pond.


5) Leave them like that for 48 hours before feeding them

i guess what you saw is Bluish white film on body and this cause strained breathing .... its caused by gill damage and you see the skin peeling........solution drain the water very low add a salt solution and leave for about and hour or 2 then allow fresh water to come in ....your fish will be ok GOOD LUCK

All are profitable as long as you are doing the right thing and have good buyers. My two cent

for melange follow what mr robonski taught us at the starting of this tread, u need vast ponds ..its mostly better for people who have big capacity farms because its mass production... If u have the smaller or medium farm my advice is go for table size and try to sell directly to the women in the market cut off those middlemen like the eleja women who come with buses ... well it all depends on your capacity goodluck
