DelticStephEn:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahomey you can see it was called Kingdom, vassal state of the Oyo Empire but a bit of your own history reads he Nigerian–Biafran War left Igboland devastated. Fighting had completely destroyed many hospitals, schools, and homes. In addition to the loss of their savings, many Igbo people faced discrimination from other ethnic groups and from the new non-Igbo federal government.[103] Some Igbo subgroups, such as the Ikwerre, started disassociating themselves from the larger Igbo population after the war.[104] In the post-war era, people of eastern Nigeria changed the names of both people and places to non-Igbo-sounding words. For instance, the town of Igbuzo was anglicized to Ibusa.[105] Due to discrimination, many Igbo had trouble finding employment, and during the early 1970s, the Igbo became one of the poorest ethnic groups in Nigeria.[103][106][107] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igbo_people#Nigerian.E2.80.93Biafran_War READ YOUR HISTORY YOU LOST BAKASSI YOU LOST NIGER DELTA TERRITORY AND YOUR HEAR MOCKING ABOUT ONE TOWN BOW YOUR HEAD IN SHAME |

The grand Patron of political almajiris who recently passed away was Chief Lamidi Adedibu. Many have argued that his death has led to the proliferation of almajiris in Yorubaland. This is because those he hitherto dole handouts to must look for other means of survival since he is no more. These political almajiris are ready to exchange their mothers for few coins. A new political class of men without integrity and anything goes was created and they became political almajiris who survive on crumbs from their masters. They would rig, kill, maim and do all sort of things to acquire political power-Hakeem Jamiu |

What was the point for slaughtering millions during the civil way if Nigerians will not be free to reside wherever they wish. What has the law enforcement agents done. A case of established mob action perpetrated by a known Oba. Why was he not picked up. Is this monarchical system superior to the Nigerian constitution? |

sukkot:Say something meaningful my brother, there are Yoruba communities in Port Harcourt as well. I remember the Auto repairer I normally had to visit represents his community as their leader in Port Harcourt. And when I say Auto repairer this man is skilled and living comfortably too and this does not mean that their aren't quite a number of his subjects whom society detests. I remembered we paid homage to another one in Delta state during the politicking eras of 2011. These guys are recognized in their "alien" communities, so stop acting like we do not know about the existence of such activity groups. |

Owliver:dude I'm not yoruba but igbos need to be taught a lesson. They're not the only ones in this country. Why are they always a nuisance everywhere they go? Why are they always trying to dominate and dictate the pace of how things are to be done in another man's land? They lack respect for host community and what the people of akure did was a welcome development. Lagos should do the same. |

Outright, I write as it bubbles in my heart! Many times when I look at the state of Ndigbo in Nigeria only tears dripped down my cheeks from my inner man. To every non-Ndigbo in Nigeria, the word and man “Igbo Man” sounds as an anathema. No wonder they always try to disassociate us. One slowpoke I met in Port Harcourt who work in Wilbros Company once complained he wanted all the Igbo people in the company to be sacked. Well, I made him to be sure that even if the people from the tribe were sacked that the salaries they had been receiving would not be given to him and never could he receive more than he had been receiving and it was selfish and ignorant for him to have proposed that. WHAT ONE IBO WOMAN WROTE |

Trut:It's quite sad that Igbos are putting themselves on a spot and creating problems for themselves where there is none. Why is life all about Igbos? Why are Igbos looking for war where they have enjoyed peace for years? The sad thing about this repulsive attitude of Igbos is that Igbos would be targeted in every political and economic arena of Yoruba land. I was born and brought up in Akure and i can categorically tell you that Igbos are well treated like every other Akure indegenes. It may shock you to know that, in 80s, during Omoboriowo political riot and civil war, Igbos who were caught up in Akure were hidden in Shagari Village(just by Benin/Owo-Akure/Lagos expressway) by the same Akure and Yorubas. There are Igbos who were my father's tenants who couldn't afford to pay their rent due to economic hardship. It got to a point(1year plus) that my father wanted to ask them to leave but later changed his mind. I asked him why and he said i don't where you and your siblings would be tomorrow. The sort of stories abound with other landlords in Akure. I grow up with Igbos children in my neighbourhood and there was nothing like tribal affiliations and all that throughout my 26yrs in that neighbourhood. I see these Igbos in their tribal attires on Sundays going for their weekly meeting without any disturbance from any quarter. We attended the sane school called Sacred heart seminary cos it's Catholic school; Igbos were given the same privilege given to Yorubas. If you take a look at Ilesha garage spare parts shops, you will realise that Igbos are really enjoying themselves to stupor without any rivalry or unnecessary attentions. If you come down towards Oba Adesida road, Igbos are fully in charge of all Boutiques and Roadside merchandising business. However, by Igbos side, are Fulani/Hausas Sabo markets which is all about raw food and other related perishables. Equally, just across this market, you ll see Hausas/Fulanis who are into Money exchange business with millions in display during the day and all that. These Northerners are equally enjoy their sanity and peace. The funny thing about all this, is that, Hausas/Fulanis have more shops than Igbos around this market but remained respectful and relatively boundary conscious. This market is Oja Oba; the Yorubas occupied these markets with 100% pure Yorubas. These Yoruba main market can swallow these Igbos/Hausas/Fulanis shops altogether. Akure is the last place where Igbos want to try rubbish cos those Akure uneducated guys would send all Igbos out of business faster than they ever imagined. Ask anybody about a particular festival called Asoga; they would destroy Igbos business in that City in less than a day. If you take a walk to the other side of Oba Adesida, a place called Arakale, Igbos began to join Yorubas building and farm tools business in early 90s without any resistance from these old Yoruba papas who have been in the business for years. That's how Igbos were welcomed. Igbos are now in the same numbers with Yorubas along that massive and long road. The Igbos have completely dominated Electronic business along Oke Aro junction all the way to Oja-Isinkan without any taxation or touts exploitation in form of Owo Ori. However, The main market of Oja isinkan is 100% occupied by Yorubas who are into clothing and bags stuffs and this market could easily swallow all these Igbos shops. Finally, the same story at Nepa market with the main market filled up with Yorubas while the shops on the street are shared 50/50 with Igbos. I never knew Igbos are Igbos until i was at age of 20 thereabout cos there was nothing like tribal issue. I swear down, I later realise that most girls i dated in secondary schools are Igbos. These are girls that speak the local dialect fluently cos they were either born or brought down to Akure from the East when they were little childs. It ll be unfortunate if Igbos throw all these into bin out of disrespect and arrogance to Yoruba tradition. Ekiti kete would respond to this threat if Akure decides to deal with Igbos cos they are cousins. Here in UK where democracy and freedom of speech is strictly enshrined in their constitution, nobody on earth would dare their Queen and get away with it. Let's take a case of Farrod, the owners of Harrod shopping mall( The most expensive shopping mall in UK if not Europe. The man whose son impregnated Princess Diana) was not given a British passport simply cos of simple statement was taken by British as disrespect against their Queen. That man is over qualified but denied. Black controls South East London in terms of population. The South East is where those Igbo MPs were elected but you don't see these Black people disrespecting British culture and value, instead they embrace and cherished it. Thank God for few numbers of these Igbos in these Area, otherwise Igbos would have taunted the locals with all the chest beating rhetoric which would have stand against all these Igbos MPs. The funny thing about this is that Yorubas and Jamaicans have the largest numbers in these area. |
