He doesn't make sense to me in most instances!

1. You don't need to pay religious teachers, what you need to do is to regulate them, they should apply for silence and go through screening before they can teach religion. That's why we have regulations in developed nations, you don't just wake up and start teaching religion, in fact part of the requirements for giving you license is that you must have another job which gives you income. His idea o paying religious teachers makes trash sense.

2. Nigeria is a circular nation, which means people believe in multiple religions and are allowed to practice such responsibly. Making any particular religion compulsory negates such principle. However, I agree that religious study should be made compulsory at the elementary education level where a background study of various religions practiced in Nigeria and the world is introduced to students. Students can then choose to study any particular religion at will, not compulsory. Beyond the elementary level, religious study should be optional.

3. Yes, I agree that some states where cattle rearing is predominant should establish grazing lands exclusive to rearing, but State and local governments should be the ones to decide whether cattle rearing should be allowed in their states or not, not the FG

Chai! First day this my friend talk truth!!? Oh boy eh! Nigeria don better be that... *peeps thru the window to check if sun is shining by 6:39pm** grin grin

1. By paying the religion leaders that means the government would be able to regulate his activity. A Pastor/Imam can not just wake up from wrong side of his bed preaching hate message. The message would have to be channeled through some recognized body who are going to vet it and release it to the public.

2. There is no crime in making religion study compulsory at primary and secondary level of education. By having knowledge of dos and donts of my Neighbour religion would ensure harmony, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.

3. Yes. Free range method of rearing is the course of communal clashes between the cattle farmers and their host community.

4. BH doesn't represent Islam.

So, it depends on how you view what he said. I believe he makes sense.
pls shut the hell up. Who is a religious leader? Everybody can wake up and claim to be religious leader. So govt should be paying all imams and pastors in Nigeria. U must be very dumb. Don't forget traditionalists, govt should pay them too. U don't know the kind of anarchy you are trying to cause..
Religion compulsory in schools to what level? Senior Sec schools? Higher institutions?

Adebayo Shittu is a Fanatic. I could remember during Lam Adesina tenure as Gov. of Oyo state he was the one that led the protest of use of Ijab in secondary schools in Saki.

I am not as worried by your senile viewpoint as i am by the fact that 76 seemingly sane persons have liked it.
As a Christian, I refuse to support a government and society that pursues any of these points you raised.
In fact, I am seriously looking for my Senator to table a bill asking every religious leader to pay taxes. You can not be praying for the good of the society and be defrauding its coffers. Churches and mosques could be tax free but its workers must and should pay taxes.

As for me, the greatest problem of Nigeria is religion particularly island which believes in jihad, and therefore turned northern Nigeria to a war zone in a bid to practice a section of the religion.

One doesn't need a soothsayer to understand that more will become radicalized, if it's made compulsory and more deadly attacks will spread to other parts of Nigeria.

It's on record, that the Government of Nigeria spends 80% of her annual incomes to service recurrent expenditures thereby creating a huge backlog on infrastructural development. As it is today, the government has no knowledge on how to term this enemy of infrastructure, and a potential minister is recommending the use of the remaining 20% or more to pay religious leaders, what a country with people who are not fair to her, even when she made them whom they are!

Boko Haram IS the real Islam without any pretense. Not that Christianity is any better but Christianity has been defeated 500 years ago. It is the turn of Islam and that's why they've become more extremist now. The world is going in one direction whether anyone likes it or not. The light is spreading and will one day overcome the darkness of especially Abrahamic religion which are all violent. Religion is ignorance to most and power to a tiny few
