Ikwerre Traditional Rulers (SCITR) have said they stand
by the Isiokpo declaration endorsing Dr Dakuku
Peterside, governorship candidate of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State to succeed
Governor Chibuike Amaechi on May 29, 2015.
Paramount ruler of Oduoha-Ogbakiri community, Eze
Ferdinand Ekenta, that of Rumuoro-Ogbakiri, Eze
Charles Oboneme and the traditional ruler of Okporowo-
Ogbakiri, Eze Emmanuel Echonwere, disclosed these in
their separate speeches while receiving Peterside during
his Ward to Ward campaign visit to Ogbakiri in Emohua
Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Ekenta said: “We, members of the Supreme Council of
Ikwerre Traditional Rulers, met at Isiokpo and gave
confirmation that Dakuku Peterside will be the next
governor. We are not going back on our endorsement of
Dakuku Peterside.”
The monarchs disclosed that their decision to stand by
Dr. Peterside, a position they described as irrevocable,
was based on equity, track record of service, character,
good neighbourliness and continuity, emphasizing that
the future of Rivers State was more important in the
consideration of who replaces Governor Amaechi.
In his speech, the APC governorship candidate,
Peterside, said as a sign of his gratitude to the
traditional rulers and Amaechi, he would not disappoint
the people of Ikwerre ethnic nationality if elected
governor of the state on April 11, 2015.
He said, “On the issue of governorship, you know that I
am in the race. The Supreme Council of Ikwerre
Traditional Rulers brought me out. They came together
at Isiokpo to say, for the reputation and future of Ikwerre,
they will not allow the selfishness of one Ikwerre man to
destroy their image.

He has been in power for 16 years and has no solid structure of his own.
From his days as a legal government chairman, Wike w h all his thuggish tendencies has had a well oiled machinery.

Something being in public domain doesn't make it to be true. For example, this your poorly written article is already in the public domain, but its content does not come to near to the truth; just personal anecdotes. More so, Amaechi was indicted by the judicial panel of inquiry in Rivers statement for corruption and embezzlement, it was published in virtually all the media sources in Nigeria both print and electronic. The verdict has come too late in the day. Wike has settled and consolidated while the APC at the centre has barely done anything since it came to power and remains unpopular south of the Niger. For different reasons I will say the verdict came too early and too late to hand any hope to the APC. I can't see any South-South state going to the APC in this election cycle. The APC needs to do more. Much more.

Peterside can't win the Rivers gubernatorial election simply due to the reson that Rivers isn't an APC state. The only reason why APC held Rivers under Ameachi is because he DEFECTED to the party. Ameachi was elected under the PDP platform, and his defection in no way mirrored the general riverian sentiment. With this being said, why can't people understand that Peterside can't win beacause his party influence in Rivers is close to nil. Look at the composition of the state's legislature; it's PDP dominated. Now I'm not saying that the election wasn't rigged, that's a complete different matter. However, if we are going to go on a witch hunt against alleged rigging, then the process should be thourough, and no ome should be speared or overlooked. APC governors should also be scrutinised. I'm sure if the same strict standard was applied nationwide (and not only applied to Wike) Bujari wouldn't have become president of our dear Nation ( Not with the huge amount of underage voters who voted for him in the North). The same argument applies for Jonathan as well, rigging was also down in his favor in the states in which he had a stronghold.

2, Doggedness of Amaechi.
Many who do not know Amaechi personally make the mistake of overlooking his doggedness but it is on record that Amaechi has never lost any political battle! History favors him and he will once again deploy his magic wand that swept Jonathan out of power in Rivers state. For confirmation check out the list of his current political battles.
a, In spite of the substitution of his name in 2007 he won in court and went ahead to reclaim his mandate.
b, He won the governors forum election inspite of jonathan and even when Jonathan succeeded in polarizing the forum, eventually at the end of Jonathan tenure even former governor Godswill Akpabio admitted he won
c, He clearly sent Jonathan packing from Aso Rock
d, Inspite of Wikes machinations, he was given a hero's reception and screened by the senate.
e, Through his doggedness the election of Wike has just been annulled.
Love him or hate him, Amaechi is a political legend.

3, The Upland/Riverine dichotomy.
In Rivers state, there is a gentlemanly agreement between these two political blocks. Unfortunately,for Wike , he is coming to replace another man from the Upland, Amaechi. Fortnately for APC, Peterside is from the Riverine area and by this agreement Peterside has the upperhand.Some people will argue that this is not a strong point as it did not improve Petersides chances before but they forget that PDP was still in power then and Wikes thuggery was deployed with federal might to diminish this important issue. Now that Wike cannot count on the federal support,Amaechi and Peterside will play this sentiment up to their advantage.

4, Wike cannot count on Patience Jonathan support.
There is no doubt that the former first lady threw her weight behind Wike with all its appurtenances and what a weight! Then she could order generals around and even the IG of police was scared of her but today none of those things obtains anymore. She is more concerned about protecting her alleged ill gotten wealth than coming out openly to support Wike.

5, Alleged plan by EFCC to arrest Wike.
It was the APC in Rivers state that started the rumor, when they claimed that he will run away immediately he hands over power to the speaker of the house in preparation for the rerun. He will immediately loose his immunity and reliable sources say a dossier about his stewardship when he held sway as minister of education and also supervised the ministry at a time is with the EFCC. All the EfCC is waiting for is for him to step down and they will swoop in on him. If this happens, it will completely destroy his already battered image and kill his chances of being elected.

6, Rivers people love Dakuku
It is not doubtful at all! Most Rivers people especially those in the riverine areas totally adore Dakuku. Wike was totally aware of this fact and that was why he had to deploy thugs and security agents to compromise the elections. Now that APC controls the center, watch as Rivers people will show him love at the polls.


And finally, Amaechi, APC and Peterside has the psychological advantage. They have been winning so far and it is expected that they go on winning!

The mentality in most oil producing states in the south is that 'we have the resources so what are we aligning with the centre for, afterall even the President's salary is paid by resources from here. For the APC to win the south they need to make the south 'want to belong' but all its utterances and activities are alienating such as the DSS invasions and the recurring EFCC harasments. Many who do not know Amaechi personally make the mistake of overlooking his doggedness but it is on record that Amaechi has never lost any political battle! a, In spite of the substitution of his name in 2007 he won in court and went ahead to reclaim his mandate.
b, He won the governors forum election inspite of jonathan and even when Jonathan succeeded in polarizing the forum, eventually at the end of Jonathan tenure even former governor Godswill Akpabio admitted he won
c, He clearly sent Jonathan packing from Aso Rock
d, Inspite of Wikes machinations, he was given a hero's reception and screened by the senate.
e, Through his doggedness the election of Wike has just been annulled.
Love him or hate him, Amaechi is a political legend.

3, The Upland/Riverine dichotomy.
In Rivers state, there is a gentlemanly agreement between these two political blocks. Unfortunately,for Wike , he is coming to replace another man from the Upland, Amaechi. Fortnately for APC, Peterside is from the Riverine area and by this agreement Peterside has the upperhand.Some people will argue that this is not a strong point as it did not improve Petersides chances before but they forget that PDP was still in power then and Wikes thuggery was deployed with federal might to diminish this important issue. Now that Wike cannot count on the federal support,Amaechi and Peterside will play this sentiment up to their advantage.

4, Wike cannot count on Patience Jonathan support.
There is no doubt that the former first lady threw her weight behind Wike with all its appurtenances and what a weight! Then she could order generals around and even the IG of police was scared of her but today none of those things obtains anymore. She is more concerned about protecting her alleged ill gotten wealth than coming out openly to support Wike.

5, Alleged plan by EFCC to arrest Wike.
It was the APC in Rivers state that started the rumor, when they claimed that he will run away immediately he hands over power to the speaker of the house in preparation for the rerun. He will immediately loose his immunity and reliable sources say a dossier about his stewardship when he held sway as minister of education and also supervised the ministry at a time is with the EFCC. All the EfCC is waiting for is for him to step down and they will swoop in on him. If this happens, it will completely destroy his already battered image and kill his chances of being elected.

6, Rivers people love Dakuku
It is not doubtful at all! Most Rivers people especially those in the riverine areas totally adore Dakuku. Wike was totally aware of this fact and that was why he had to deploy thugs and security agents to compromise the elections. Now that APC controls the center, watch as Rivers people will show him love at the polls.


And finally, Amaechi, APC and Peterside has the psychological advantage. They have been winning so far and it is expected that they go on winning!

Amaechi and APC should come and explain to us what happened to the 1Billion he was saving for Rivers state every month.
