Keneking:I dont disagree with you, you can have sound decisions made quickly, I'm just saying don't sacrifice the quality of the decision making for speed. We need long term fixes, our problems won't be solved overnight. Just as some of the poor policies of past administrations are only being to be manifested in the country and hard to reverse, so also long lasting effective polities may take time to think through and put in place. We should stop thinking short term about long term problems and start thinking longterm about the Nigeria of our children and less about today, that's how countries progress...long term planning. |

olatunji21:We are too seduced by titles in this country, Senator, barrister, Professor, Dr, Chief etc. Anybody can become a professor if you are there long enough, it doesn't mean you are fundamentally bright!!!! or that you will make a good manager |

Keneking:I agree with you on this point. He is more practical than theoretical. I think he doesn't have strong foundation in economic theory. |

Keneking:I beg to disagree. Do you know some of them crisps-cross from federal university to state universities even down to private universities. What is professorship in the first place? It has to do with your grade level and research. |

I need someone like Prof Soludo in the ministry of education. Before his appointment as a CBN governor, no Nigerian bank was operating in the rank of 1000 banks in the world. But before he left, we had like 7 or 8 in the first 1000 and even I think one was in the first 200. Currently, no Nigerian universities is within the first 700 in the world. I want someone who can take up the challenge and take any of our universities to the first 100 in the world. |

Polytechnic students are rejects of universities, College of education students are dregs of jamb. Anwuka. Whatever that statement means, the man is not fit in my own view. Is he aware that the capacity of our tertiary institutions(combined) is not enough to admit all utme candidates for every year, how can you justify a capacity of less than 20%(university) with the laziness/inability/unintelligible act of the students. This man will serve as nothing but the P in Psycho under PMB's regime. |

OlujobaSamuel:Actually that's one of the smart things he said (in fairness to him he did say a few smart things, i just don't think he will make a good leader/mamager) back to your statement, he identified a problem which is fundamental to the rot in our educational system and in fact our entire system. Only those who are not good enough to make Universities and polytechnics are admitted to teacher training colleges. Which means that the teachers who will teach those who will teach the entrants into our Universities and polytechnics for the next generation are themselves mediocre. This is part of the problem we are already seeing now. Ditto civil service and indeed all spheres of life, Only people who are not good enough to get a job in the private sector end up in the civil service, the civil service is the engine room of government and it ends up manned by quacks. Back in the day graduates from Oxford, Cambridge and Ivy league universities at home and around the world could be found in both the civil service and Universities. When I was in school, I had primary and secondary school teachers who were university graduates from the best universities. If the people who are forming the base of your education are not fit for purpose (like the infamous teacher from Edo state) then your entire education is flawed and you end up with a degree not worth the paper it's printed on. This is why a lot of graduates today can't find jobs despite companies screeming out that they have vacancies and can't find qualified people. |
