My mum is suggesting ORT water cos she poo lik 8 to 10 times daily n eat lik every 30min.pls wat can I ggv her to stop the pooing. She is on ebf

This was what was taught to me and I think it helped. Your milk ducts may not be clogged yet to need a scan asap.

no no no. Ur breast milk is very sufficient. Haba every 30 minutes feeding? Breast milk is OK. Ur Dr wld av told u otherwise sef.

Have you tried hand expressing? ( you'll need to try for at least 2min before you conclude nothing is coming out. Apply warm compress and you can bath with really warm water. You need to either express or continue feeding your LO. It's well with you.
Are you having fever or chills?

Firsttymum did Justice to your question, remove all reservations, as long as she isn't running temperature or fatigued & getting lean, do not worry yourself....

She has a great digestive system &all babies aren't the same, so don't use another as your yarsstick.

Stop when it's no longer pinkish/reddish looking... which means it's perfectly healed..... or just give it till aaturday to clear all doubts.

The vaseline is too prevent diaper irritation in case there is any sore part in the dik, no matter how little.....

Don't fret about the sleeping pattern, she's real cool..you confirmed she sleeps well at night, 4hrs is a good stretch, My K is 3 months & doesn't sleep more than 3 at ago & he is formula+bottle fed....

Hello dear, I don't think u should be feeding ur baby every 30minutes. That's definitely too much and she won't get enough sleep like u AV stated neither will u get enough rest during d day. Pls try and establish a feeding pattern say like every 2-3hrs.

Yes at 1st it will be difficult because she is now use to every 30mins feeding but just increase d timing gradually. U can start by adding 15mins until u get to d 2-3hrs timing.

your mum is right, its a cause for concern, 8 times is alot, ORS and zinc tabs and you should see a doctor.

i dont think there should be a feeding pattern, feed when the baby is hungry, if the baby is stooling alot, naturally she will be hungry and dehydrated, or have u even thot of the fact that she might not be satisfied with just breastmilk? how old is ur baby?

@missmalachi...firsttymum has answered you but if it bothers you so much take her to see the pediatrician.( my friends baby had the same issue and even when she started solids still pooped 2-3x a day)

How old is your baby? What is the colour and consistency of her poo? Is it a lot that comes out? Sometimes pooing for a newborn after every meal is kind of normal. Don't give ORS unless you're absolutely sure you will live with the consequences of your decision.

See, if the volume of your milk is not enough, she won't have anything to poo out so much, isn't that plain common sense so we rule out low milk supply.

Could it be something that you're eating? Sugar is a relative term, a lot of things can cause runny stomach. Are you having runny stomach because what you eat affects you then the baby.

If your baby is constantly eating, maybe she's not eating well. So rather than eating a full meal, she will snack. and feed for a bit and play with the nipple. Or maybe she's not latched on properly (she is not getting the nipple and the lower part of the breast in her mouth) so isn't eating well (that's like using a fork to lick ice-cream. So she get a tired easily and gives up before she's full, then requires feeding 30 minutes later.

She may be doing something known as "Cluster feeding" which literally means to a baby "chop and quench like you're at an owambe party and there's no food forever for the rest of our lives! " Funny but it happens during a growth spurt, baby needs more food so eats more often and then your body tells itself "we need to produce more milk" nd that's how your milk supply grows. If you introduce formula, body doesn't get that constant need from baby and produces less milk... and then you have to buy even more formula to feed your baby. And it justs keep getting more expensive...

FT parents tend to get a lot of bad advice from family (no child is the same). And breastfeeding is very misunderstood. Half of the "great" advice my mum gave me made my baby a formula-fed baby but once she left, my baby became an EBF baby. So. trust your instincts.

The only thing am battling wit is constipation wc makes me eat ripe pawpaw daily to enable me go 2 d loo.aside d poo she is fine n no fever.

She does not feed lik this b4 now.this new pattern started after her 6wks immunization. Am told she will still change.

I meant in general terms not particularly because d baby is stoolin. She has been asked how old her baby is. My son used minimum of 8 soiled diapers a day from birth till like 2months + and was told by his Paed that it is absolutely normal.

Onegai has also asked some important questions as regards d stooling. She can't just give her baby ORS because d baby poops frequently because there will be effect to that.

Generally (u can also ask ur baby's paed) it is not advisable to feed a baby on demand especially after establishing that d baby is getting enough milk (either EBF of Formula). It is advisable to establish a feeding pattern.

She can also go on fb and "Ask d paediatricians" so they can explain better to her.

I finally had the scan on the breast today. And the result was breast abscess. FNAC suggested. Please who can throw more light on this. Thanks

Good mamas of this thread I need answer.

My dh saw our 11 months baby drinking water from the table, he poured it from his feeding bottle and started using his tongue to lick it.
So dh asked which daily drugs do I give you to him, I told him nothing. He began to complain that it's only to back baby I know that I don't know how to care for him.

Pls, does my baby need any multivitamin, if yes which?
