The PDP became deaf and dump on d day Amaechi was screened. They refused to participate in the screening and therefore cannot participate in the confirmation of Amaechi too.

I thought APC promised us a change? This change is surely a scam. The Nigerian people have been badly wounded in terms of our values that we celebrate corruption to score a point. Hmmmmmmm.

Bunch of hypocrites. They should've ran out of the Senate instead of walking and then fly out of Nigeria - all for good! Who cares!

These pdp senators are just a bunch of rotten brain ediots . Who do they think they are fooling? They should enjoy whatever they have been given to stage that walkout but know this that by staging that walkout majority of those who still saw them as an opposition force against apc have lost hope and faith in them. That walkout confirmed the death of pdp

And who cares about all the dramahuh

Look at Akpabio, look at T.A. etc. Same guys who looted at state-level have now upgraded to federal level. Let alone the embattled Amaechi who swore that he hasn't accepted a bribe. And our amiable President had already asserted that Sani Abacha didn't steal a dime.

The fact still remains that the political elite of this country have vowed in conspiratorial unison to loot this country down and gravely undermine the welfare of its unsuspecting citizens. It doesn't matter whether they are from APC or PDP- the bond of this conspiracy is stronger than any party affiliation.

I just pity the poor masses, myself inclusive, whose focus is often distracted by some unnecessary political stage-play, and the ever-lofty promise of 'change'.

Learn not take these people serious, while minding your own business very well. Your survival depends solely on you, and not on any government.

Re: Why We Walked Out On Saraki—akpabio by ehissi(m): 9:37am On Oct 30, 2015
I think this is where Nigerians judged according to affiliations and party/political sentiment and not knowledge or information or facts!! I also know that with D right Media campaign/propaganda, strong words from the International community and negative downturn in our economic fortunes the same set of Nigerians that zealously shout "Crown him, crown him" will still murderously shout "Crucify him, crucify him when his cup is full!".

The PDP walkout is D most golden thing the senate has witnessed under this administration!! Let's us all be aware that Amaechi's confirmation is a sign of what Nigerians should expect from APC in days to come!!

Let's look at Amaechi's case critically; first of all, I am not a rivers man, neither am I from rivers state so I don't have a bias for or against D fellow, neither am I a fan of D PDP nor APC!!

There are fans of Amaechi from Rivers State even here on Nairaland that insist that He is D best governor Rivers has ever had compared to his only legitimate predecessor Odili; I remember vividly how wary I became of Odili in his time after the Independent Power plant project he commissioned close to the close of his tenure, where both Odili, Commissioner for finance and Chief of Staff all gave different figures for building that plant ranging from #80bn to #88bn to #90bn, and his refusal to challenge openly the opposition's allegation of corruption as well as their request for him to release the facts about the power plant expenditure to the press if his hands were clean!! So for me personally, I don't find Odili a good yardstick for good governance in Rivers!!

I can't contest/challenge what I don't know to true or false but amaechi's case is as unique as Mbadinuju of Anambra state!!

There are also those who argue that Akpabio and saraki or Kashimu, orji etc are as good as amaechi in the area of corruption so what moral right do they have to stop his confirmation!!??

For a start, all the above mentioned public office holder were presented by their political parties and voted by Nigerians and as such are not similar to amaechi's case!!
A ministerial nomination/screening/confirmation is done by the presidency in conjunction with D senate!!

Buhari is directly responsible for that ministerial list which contains Amaechi's names as a ministerial nominee because it bears his signature!!

The same Buhari, went to Chatham House in the UK - nobody sent him message Ooh!! -on February 26th 2015 and vowed that "No corrupt person will have a place in my Cabinet" so Amaechi's confirmation, is his own error!!

Like I said, he has fans who can enumerate his many wonderful projects in rivers state. But as wonderful as his project were, Amaechi left rivers state as governor and never gave handover notes to his successor, why??

That is a total lack of transparency and accountability and the greatest form of dis-service to his state!

There are also those who will argue that this is untrue and that Amaechi gave handover notes to wike!! Before U do so, please show us a source showing a press conference where this took place because this is government business; there are numerous sources on the internet that show Buhari receiving handover notes from Jonathan and funny enough Amaechi was a member of Buhari's Transitional committee but refused to have anything to do with Wike's Transitional committee, why??

To the extent that on the 16th of June 2015, the Rivers State House of Assembly passed a resolution directing the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Emmanuel Aguma, to take legal steps to compel the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, to present his  handover notes to the Governor Nyesom Wike administration on the 16th of June 2015 (take note that this is after may 29)!!

Amaechi as chief executive officer of rivers state; presided over an impasse that saw all the courts in Rivers state shutdown for almost 2years.

Wike had to be sworn in by chief justice of bayelsa state because Amaechi chose to play politics which appointment of chief justice in rivers!! It was wike that did D needful and opened the court houses in river state!

Refusing to nominate any other person as Chief Justice since his own person was against Nigerian Judicial council's recommendation - tell me if he wanted a truly independent judiciary in his state, why tamper with appointment based on NJC's recommendation, is he a lawyer? Its as good as Buhari or Jonathan tampering with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria's recommendations on the health sector when they R not medical doctors!!

To the extent that Amaechi, via the office of the State attorney General of Rivers State, went to a High court in owerri to stop the inauguration of Nyesom wike as governor and had the case thrown out because D judge cited jurisdiction and announced that only a High court in Port-harcourt can hear that case; and the High court and all courts in Rivers were closed; why?? Because Amaechi refused to nominate a Chief Justice for Screening since his candidate wasn't recommended by NJC!!

See source below

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/court-dismisses-amaechi-s-suit-against-wike-s-inauguration/209818/

This is where Amaechi's case is unique; Wike - the current sitting governor of rivers state - setup a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate certain contracts handled by the past administration since there was no handover notes to provide the much needed clarification!!

Amaechi goes to the same courts he didn't want open all because NJC didn't recommend his choice of chief justice and sought an injunction restraining the panel from investigating him because it was set to victimise him!! The judge in his pronouncement made it clear, that the panel, setup by the rivers state government, was created to investigate it own activities and not amaechi's private life and that Amaechi had also used Judicial Panels in D past to investigate certain unclear issues in river state so why is he trying to restrain Wike?

The judge stated that it was awkward for Amaechi to claim that he was going to be treated unfairly, when he hasn't even appeared before the panel and given his own account on the issues under investigation by the panel!! Amaechi refused to appear before this panel!!

The Judicial panel's report eventually cited misappropriation against the Amaechi administration of the rivers state reserve fund to the tune of #53bn!! Please view sources below

http://www.hopefornigeriaonline.com/amaechi-diverted-n53billion-as-he-is-indicted-by-panel/

http://www.channelstv.com/2015/10/07/rivers-panel-of-inquiry-submits-report-on-amaechi/

The same amaechi took PDP to court claiming defamation; that the PDP accused his of stealing money from River's state treasury and demanded compensation of #300bn, the case is still in court right now!!

See source below

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/amaechi-drags-pdp-to-court-over-alleged-funds-embezzlement/

When Amaechi's name appeared on ministerial list, he immediately wrote to Saraki, because the River's State government had Petitioned before this time both the EFCC and the ICPC over the finding of the Judicial panel , nothing was done by both agencies - to show U the zeal with which D presidency is fighting corruption.

Then Wike and the Integrity group petitioned Saraki citing D Judicial panel report indicting Amaechi!!

Amaechi too wrote Saraki; saying that Saraki should ignore the Judical panel's finding that an indictment by the Judicial panel - legally and this is true - is not enough reason for amaechi to be rejected for Ministerial office

See excerpts of the letter in the source below

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/embattled-amaechi-writes-saraki-urges-him-to-ignore-indictment/222992/

Saraki and the House directs the Ethics committee of the senate to screen Amaechi; amaechi now gets there and tells the committee that it has no right to ask him any question relating to embezzlement because the case is in court - the suit he has with PDP precisely - and that it will be pre-judicial to do so which is true!!

Amaechi from there goes to D general house for screening and koro-koro blow lie that D Judicial panel report did not indict him!!
Why?? Because even if they insist on reading the content of the report to prove him wrong, his confirmation or rejection cannot be based on the report since he has a case in court relating to the embezzlement in the report!!

The general senate now agrees, that they will listen to the recommendations of the senate committee on ethics before they decide on what to do, because Amaechi was sent there first, based on petitions before D senate, citing disapproval with his nomination based on corruption!!

The Senate Committee on ethics presents it report; and in its conclusion, the senate should suspend Amaechi's confirmation pending the determination of his cases in court!!

The APC senators insist that it should be put to voice vote - knowing that they are in the majority - and the PDP senators staged the golden walkout!!

This is just one more sign that D so called anti-corruption is crap!! If Wike can petition EFCC and ICPC with facts and they choose not to do anything about in; then you can be rest assured that The Promise of Change has become a Change of Promise!!

May God Help Us all!!!

It's a show of shame. Buhari is a failure. It's now proven that the legislators are tools for the executive.

Yet you say the legislators are his tools, that the judiciary does his bidding.
