Dominique, why do you say it's a bad thing to eat these animals? As long as they are not poisonous or going extinct? And if they were going extinct, there is little the average man on the street can do when there is no higher and systematic initiative to save them.
These animals are actually delicacies in some cultures, just like the way an Indian will frown at your eating beef.

Those that eat snakes know which is poisonous or not, I doubt if the Op bothered to find out the kind of snake they're about to consume. How about the one that ate a tortoise. The way he snuffed life out of that animal made me sick. The way our people go eating just anything without bothering to care if it is fit or safe to eat is very worrying.
