To be honest, I am hearing 'regional areas' for the first time! And yes, - PR is my long term plans. I would play around Google for this great information you have given, and you can be sure I will direct necessary questions to you and the house. Thanks again for this!
2posh:

I don't know about Deakin. But it's best to assume that each School will ask you to pay first semester Tuition + OSHC to cover the full length of the program(unless you indicate that you want to arrange OSHC by yourself) before they issue COE. I'm saying this based on my experience with QUT (You might want to check them out as well). So, don't make your financial plans based on only the Tuition.

Have you considered regional areas? The Schools there tend to be cheaper, plus you get more points(5 I think) for schooling there(again, this is if your long term goal is PR). Some regions are also known to put students that schooled in the area first when it comes to nomination. The only thing is that if you eventually want to go to that region, they have their own criteria too.

To know the places categorized as regional areas...google is your friend grin

Hope this helps.

Great. So now you have your work cut out for you.

It's quite straight forward - identify the regional areas and cross-reference that info with the list of Schools under SVP.

Then check those Schools for your program, costs and whatever else matters to you.

***As you research on regional areas, be sure to identify why they are called that(they are low/under-populated places. Some people find it boring but hey, you have a goal in mind right? Except if 'gbedu' matters that much to you sha). Also, if at the time of PR you go with nomination from a region, they(or some) require you to live there for at least 2years or so and some other requirements(see why you need to research them?)

Hope this helps.

He can get a positive assessment depending on where he studied his geology. OAU is a four year geology degree and I got a positive assessment.

I think they have some selected universities that they treat their four year degree to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree.

@bellong, do u know if UI is among the selected universities?

Hello sir. Please how did you place your admission application through to university of Queensland, did they refer you to an agent or you did it your self?
Plus was there any language proof requirement?

bhanjjie:
Good afternoon fellow contributors, please what is the fastest way to check if a school or programme is under SVP? I have applied to Uni of Queensland for Masters in Public Health Program (SVP - 1.5years), and I'm considering another application to another school for the same course in order to boost admission chances. I want a programme of 1.5 (or 2 years preferably), and the school has to be under SVP. Anyone who has such schools that meet my criteria can help me post them biko. Deakin's MPH degree is 2 years, but I'm not sure if they are under SVP. Thank you again and again!

First of all, I am not "sir" grin Well, I applied through PFL at one edufair they organized in September in Abuja. English Language test is mandatory. I advise you find time to register and take the test asap if you are interested. I think the application deadline to Uni Queensland is 30th Nov. I hope this helps.

Hello,

I have concluded the research. Flinders University seems to be only school with my course in a "regional area". Though, I'm particularly not impressed with their ranking. Hey, what if I run a 1.5 years Masters and then a Certificate programme in a "regional area", would this help (count towards nomination point) in any way? I will dig deeper and come up with a decision as soon as possible. Thanks again for your info. It sure helps! God bless you.

If I may ask, how did you secure tour admission into UQ? Did you use an agent or u did it yourself?
I'm hoping UQ=University of Queensland
Was English test mandatory for the admission process??

@jayooh
Sorry this is coming a bit late, I have not been regular on NL as I used to be.
I applied directly to UQ, no agents. I consider agents unhelpful in most instances. For example, my first choice had always been flinders in SA but after taking my 100Dolls application fee, they referred me to BCIE. BCIE requested for just about any document you can think of and they don't ever acknowledge receipt of my emails. I am a very busy person and I like to keep my travel plans private so I dislike having to talk on the phone unless completely necessary. My preferred mode of communication is email. For like a month plus I heard nothing from the agent and the school was also acting up. They raised some outright inane issues with my transcript, I replied but they wouldn't be placated. A week or two later they'd come back with almost the same question. The whole thing was really putting me off but I kept at it, I have special plans for South Australia and I didn't want to change it, but eventually they had their way. Flinders gave me a 'conditional offer'! I was livid, broke off all communication with the school and their nominated agent.

I polished my SOP, went online and spent like 15mins filling out the admission form on UQ's website. I sent them the same docs I used for the earlier encounter with Flinders and in a week, I got a mail asking me to choose the specialisation I want. In less than 2 weeks I got an unconditional offer. I paid and got my eCoE. I only needed to speak with the school on the phone only once.

flinders reversed themselves and gave me an unconditional offer but it was too late.

I'm hoping to lodge for the 573 next week after renewing my passport this week.
Special thanks to all the good people in the house. Special recognition to the present and FutureDon for his wonderful help in reviewing my SoP for the visa application.

yes, UQ = Uni of Queensland

The answer is strictly how YOU intend to be getting your money sent to you in Australia.

Nobody can answer it for you. Will you use sire transfer, ATM etc. Put the method you will get the money to yourself.

Check the reason for his denials. Australian Embassy don't value unlinked Company sponsorship. He didn't explain his relationship or link with the Company thus the denial.

Mikey:

I have a comment on no 3, I'm not saying you're wrong but I know someone that was denied visa and one of the reason is that in his school application he said his father is his sponsor and while applying for visa he wrote company sponsorship, he wasn't elaborate to let them know that the dad is the company director. My opinion is that they share some information

If your Cooprative has a website, they will check, and also any document that can be helpful. In some cases, you may be requested to present a CAC document to verify the exsitence of the Cooprative. Also, most cooporative do have accounts with other Commercial Banks. If such Statement can also be added to your application it will be helpful.

bigm101:
Hi,
Thank you so much for the quick response . I'm so grateful. And Yes my school is part of SVP but no, my intended course is not part of SVP. So, I am going to be accessed on assessment level 3.
I quite comprehend everything you said but it seems you didn't get my question right . I will rephrase it . Now, the question is , I'm using a coperative union bank statement and my uncle is the president . In the letter of sponsor , what reason can I state inside that , makes me connected with the coperative and why they wan to sponsor me ? That's the question I need answer for . Like , if there are cases like that where someone used coperative union account
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by erictack203(m): 10:24pm On Nov 02, 2015
They may be a problem! Your uncle has to transfer the said funds to your Account and you should state the Spnsorship and the Cooprative has to write a Letter. Don't forget that the funds should be in your Account.

Your Uncle is not allowed to sponsor you.

bigm101:

Wow! Okay, for the last time.. Coperative union society are like group of people that comes together like a club or something , they contribute money together and lend every members. My uncle is the president . He's my sponsor but he's using the coperative union society account . Now, what kind of relationship can I write in the letter that connects me to the society on why they want to sponsor me .. E.g, like scholarship or something . Do you have any experience like this , please ?

I'm not sure about the Master's + Cert route. I guess the house gurus can help with that.

About the Flinders School, have you read @ewagbamio's post on them? Lol

If you are interested in ranking(and don't need the regional schooling points), have you checked QUT? They have good rankings(higher than Deakin tongue) and I know they have a 2year Master's program in Public Health + they are slightly cheaper than UQ. I read reviews of the two Schools before I applied and UQ appears to be more popular and a step or two higher than QUT in the ranks but apparently, QUT has a more practical/hands-on style of education than UQ.

I know it seems I'm biased towards QUT because it's my School but it won't hurt to check it out eh?

Anyhoo, the highest ranking Australian University is the University of Melbourne. Maybe you should check it out too.

As for your statement about depositing only $8,000 for UQ, are you sure you were looking at the 'International' tab? It looks like you were checking the tab for 'Australian' because the annual fee for that course under International is $27,360. Divide that by 2 to get the figure for one Semester, which is what you'll most likely be asked to deposit + OSHC fees.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

This new program is proportionate to your previous application.

What you need is a good SOP outlining your future prospects on completion of your program. Again, when writing your SOP, try to outline some of the facts previously used on your previous SOP.

Try to link the both programs on your SOP and elaborate it to your present education and career prospects as well as your future plans on completion of your program and return to Nigeria. You will be fine.

Hahaha, I see where the rivalry between UQ and QUT students come from. The fact is, UQ, a top world university, supersedes QUT in all major rankings, grants approval rates, research output etc. No doubt, QUT is also a good institution.

blueprint2015 - did you know the reason reason(s) why your visa application was denied? I believe your new course is related. On your SoP, we will establish a sweet connection between the old and new courses and give believable reason (s) for the change in course. Overall, it needs to be concise.

bigm101 - that question is not a difficult one imho. Just state it concisely that the funds will be deposited in your Naija account (by your sponsor, if you are using one) and subsequently be accessed by you in Australia with your debit/ATM cards.

lols @futuredon,
na u be the boss naa. Don't mind those Flinders peeps, the gave me the unconditional offer eventually but by then my sights were already fixed on Queensland. I actually had some short professional certificate courses I wanted to quickly take in South Australia, thus my fixation with Flinders but I have now found a way round that.

UQ only require a deposit if 8k plus ur OSHC. They are truly a top ranked Uni, Go8 and all but really that is of little importance to me.

For the guy asking about MPH, I believe all MPH programs are SVP, never seen any one that is not SVP. the fees too are almost always the same at 41k total. If you research deep on the school fees section, you will find a way to calculate the total fees payable at the end of the program which is usually ~41k for the 1 and 1.5year programs. Uni Adelaide is 2years and its a whooping 60k or so. I didn't look at the 2year programs, 1.5year was the sweet spot for me but I suspect 2year programs will cost a bit above that 41k ceiling.

If you are a doctor, I hope you have your 'real' plan well fine tuned already?
