My person,

I checked QUT and i was comfortable with all that I saw. Never mind, there was no bias in your statement at all smiley I have noted QUT and Flinders, I will make a decision on one in the coming days. I will keep you posted. I must say have been 'well served' by this e-family in the last 24 hours. And UQ deposit is 8k. smiley

Thank you.

I'm not sure about the Master's + Cert route. I guess the house gurus can help with that.

About the Flinders School, have you read @ewagbamio's post on them? Lol

If you are interested in ranking(and don't need the regional schooling points), have you checked QUT? They have good rankings(higher than Deakin tongue) and I know they have a 2year Master's program in Public Health + they are slightly cheaper than UQ. I read reviews of the two Schools before I applied and UQ appears to be more popular and a step or two higher than QUT in the ranks but apparently, QUT has a more practical/hands-on style of education than UQ.

I know it seems I'm biased towards QUT because it's my School but it won't hurt to check it out eh?

Anyhoo, the highest ranking Australian University is the University of Melbourne. Maybe you should check it out too.

As for your statement about depositing only $8,000 for UQ, are you sure you were looking at the 'International' tab? It looks like you were checking the tab for 'Australian' because the annual fee for that course under International is $27,360. Divide that by 2 to get the figure for one Semester, which is what you'll most likely be asked to deposit + OSHC fees.

Hope this helps.
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by bhanjjie: 12:36pm On Nov 03, 2015
i'm curious to know if these "agents" actually pay the application fees charged by schools for submitting applications
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by bhanjjie: 12:50pm On Nov 03, 2015
Thank you your feedback. I wonder why Flinders would refer you to an agent aftert collecting application fee. How long did it take to receive your CoE upon payment deposit?

Thanks.
ewagbamio:
If I may ask, how did you secure tour admission into UQ? Did you use an agent or u did it yourself?
I'm hoping UQ=University of Queensland
Was English test mandatory for the admission process??

@jayooh
Sorry this is coming a bit late, I have not been regular on NL as I used to be.
I applied directly to UQ, no agents. I consider agents unhelpful in most instances. For example, my first choice had always been flinders in SA but after taking my 100Dolls application fee, they referred me to BCIE. BCIE requested for just about any document you can think of and they don't ever acknowledge receipt of my emails. I am a very busy person and I like to keep my travel plans private so I dislike having to talk on the phone unless completely necessary. My preferred mode of communication is email. For like a month plus I heard nothing from the agent and the school was also acting up. They raised some outright inane issues with my transcript, I replied but they wouldn't be placated. A week or two later they'd come back with almost the same question. The whole thing was really putting me off but I kept at it, I have special plans for South Australia and I didn't want to change it, but eventually they had their way. Flinders gave me a 'conditional offer'! I was livid, broke off all communication with the school and their nominated agent.

I polished my SOP, went online and spent like 15mins filling out the admission form on UQ's website. I sent them the same docs I used for the earlier encounter with Flinders and in a week, I got a mail asking me to choose the specialisation I want. In less than 2 weeks I got an unconditional offer. I paid and got my eCoE. I only needed to speak with the school on the phone only once.

flinders reversed themselves and gave me an unconditional offer but it was too late.

I'm hoping to lodge for the 573 next week after renewing my passport this week.
Special thanks to all the good people in the house. Special recognition to the present and FutureDon for his wonderful help in reviewing my SoP for the visa application.

Good day all. I'm new to this section. Has anyone applied for 189 visa as a Solicitor and succeeded? If yes, how did you get your assessment done? What is the best way for a Nigerian trained Lawyer with 10yrs post call experience migrate to Australia with hubby and kids?

You will first be registered with one of the States' bar association and be called to the bar before submitting an expression of interest. That will take you about one -two hears as you will be asked to take some law courses from Any Australian university.

Let your spouse be the principal applicant if he/she is not a lawyer.

Taken, but in the absence of an indicated gender, sir stands. I was hoping UQ would accept a master application without the test of English language.

bhanjjie:
First of all, I am not "sir" grin Well, I applied through PFL at one edufair they organized in September in Abuja. English Language test is mandatory. I advise you find time to register and take the test asap if you are interested. I think the application deadline to Uni Queensland is 30th Nov. I hope this helps.

Please did u send an official transcript or u uploaded a scanned copy for admission application?
Did u use an English test agency result?
How much was the total deposit paid by u before issuance of eCOE?
The academic recommendation letters, were they hard copy? Or they were don electronically?

They usually look critically at the transcript...so it all depends on the syllabus of the school

That's great news! Did you also add additional qualification or just your 1st Degree? I know of someone that did Geology from Uni Benin that got negative assessment etc.

@jayooh,
I only used scanned copies of my documents all through, no hard copies at all.

I did not use Recommendation letters but I believe if you are using them, then it can be scanned and uploaded too.

I used an English test (IELTS), it us required and each course has its own minimum score.

the deposit is 8k AUD plus your OSHC.

UQ is efficient in my own experience. I got my offer in under 2weeks and my eCoE in like 2days after after my payment was received. When I needed my OSHC corrected, it took like a week plus to get another eCoE but I called them and the explained. I got it 2days after the call. if you are calling them, just have your student no handy.

Hello house,

UOW sent me a supplementary financial details form to fill before eCOE.

Reading through the instructions, it was written, if you are applying directly to the university, you will be referred to a representative of the university who will undertake the check on its behalf.

And there is a space for agent attestation to the claim on the last page.

Does that mean the use of agent is mandatory. i have been avoiding agent cos i hv contacted pfl before withdrawing after advice and encouragement from gurus that i can do it myself. is this normal stuff, that i can still continue to evade agent or i should run back to them ;DHello house,

Good morning,

I do not think people are jumping your post deliberately. I think you need to be more specific with your questions. MSc in what field precisely? I think your first homework will be to decide on the course you want and then "Google" the schools offering the course. Check their admission requirements too. I think most courses will require some work experience. To be honest with you, you can't escape from going through links, because people will sometimes respond to your questions and queries in form of links. I understand you are a nursing mother and a bit busy at the moment, I advise you delegate the task to your younger brother or sister or someone you think knows how to surf well and get results on the internet that can help you do some online research. When you have your course and the schools offering them, you can then post 'specific' questions, and I'm almost sure you will get responses. I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Hi,

@bhanjjie is right.

You really can't escape doing some(majority) of the work from your end. Not even the Gurus here will spoon-feed you. Sorry kiss

Anyway, here's my own bit...

If your long term plan is PR, then first find a course either on the SOL or the CSOL that you can identify with (When applying for your visa, you'll have to explain why you picked it; the relationship it has with your current educational background + experience and how it fits into your future plans - so, pick wisely)

Look for Schools, based on factors that matter to you like location, ranking, cost, application requirements etc that offer the course(s) you want and start applying (The Schools under SVP, will make the journey easier for you. Refer to my last few posts on how/where to get the list of SVP Schools - Googling advice and the links you are avoiding are there too grin tongue). Also, you need a minimum of 2 years study in Australia to qualify for Post Study Visa and/or get the additional points for studying in Australia towards PR - so, have that in mind when selecting Schools and Courses, if PR is your long term goal.

Again, if PR is your long term goal, check "Skill Select" to see if you have the required 60 points. If you don't, consider picking a School in a regional area(schooling in a regional area gives you additional 5 points, but take note of their own requirements for nomination). Again, my last few posts will guide you on what all of that is about. More googling for you grin

You'll most likely have to write an English test - IELTS or any other one accepted by the School and get/surpass their minimum score requirement.

This is probably a lot of information for a fresher to assimilate but if you have a family member or friend that can help you research, well and good because it really can't be avoided.

Don't just dive in and pick any Course and any School, you gotta plan according to your long-term goal (PR, I assume)

*SOL - Skilled Occupations List
*CSOL - Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List
*SVP - Streamlined Visa Processing
*PR - Permanent Resident(ce)

PS - Try and read the thread! You'll be amazed at the bits and pieces of helpful info you'll find. You'll also be able to identify the Gurus and/or someone in the same boat with you - it helps.

OOOPS! - If PR isn't part of your plan, please forget everything I wrote above and just pick whatever Course or School you want. What do I know sef? grin grin grin

Hope this helps.

Hi,

For direct PR route - I think what you should do first is to find out the requirements of the assessing body for Elect/Elect. Engineers Australia I believe(Please verify this on the SOL/CSOL - don't just take my word for it) They require a certain level of work experience or something they call career episodes where you state real life scenarios of anything relating to the course that you've done.

Second, check "skill select" and see if you have enough points without going the School route.

Also, read this thread. You'll see other Engineers that are in the same boat with you and what they did and how they did it. This is so not my forte. Lol but I hope I helped a teeny bit smiley

Thanks bhanjjie , I understand your point I applied for International Business Management after previewing my transcript he told me that it will be hard to get into any MSC courses since I had a low grade point in some courses as stated before.

and yes I have a seven years work experience in customer service. do you think I have a better chances in asutralia?

Am not an expert but to borrow 2posh language. Here is my
1cent advice.

1. As per undergraduate u may not know exact date ( though in admission letter, if u still hv it though) but i think u should hv idea of month but the graduation date and month is always on the certificate.

2. waec ( ithink u mean secondary school). i think idea is needed here too. Normally secondary school ends in june

3. check the school address well . there is always a post code on it.

4. i hv not filled 157A before. but i trust gurus will help out.

of all i think the one you should not get wrong is graduation date as this will be part of document submitted and it is verifiable.

smiley cheesy @rolaesh

Hi chetaRay,

For Qs 18 and 22, just state your House number, Street, City and State. In the PostCode slot, I used the Nigerian code 234. They won't be sending you anything anyway. The Visa comes by email (Please make sure you tick "YES" in Q 23 and write out your email address VERY clearly... unless you want the Visa to go to the land of no return. I didn't put anything in the Fax slot)

For the the other Qs, as @roalesh stated, get those you can from your Certificates and make intelligent guesses on the rest. At least, that's what I did.

Hope this helps.
