Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has appealed against the judgement of the state election petitions tribunal that sacked him from office. The governor in the appeal is asking the the Court of Appeal, Abuja Judicial Division to set aside the judgement of the tribunal which nullified his election on the 24th of October 2015. In a notice of appeal dated November 3, 2015 and filed on behalf of the governor by his counsel, Mr Emmanuel Ukala, SAN, the governor established 26 grounds of appeal wherein he raised complaint against the entire judgement of the lower tribunal. In the appeal, Governor Wike joined the Rivers State APC governorship candidate, Mr Dakuku Peterside, All Progressives Congress, APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the PDP as respondents. He sought an order of the Court of Appeal allowing his appeal and an order of the court setting aside the judgement of the tribunal. He further urged the Court of Appeal to make an “order striking out or dismissing the election petition filed on 3rd May 2015 by Mr Dakuku Peterside and the APC as petitioners at the tribunal “ Governor Wike among other grounds noted that the tribunal erred in law when it relied on hearsay and inadmissible evidence to nullify his election. He added that the finding and conclusion of the tribunal was not supported by evidence before the court.

The earlier Mr Wike realizes the game is up for him, the better for him & his party. A man of his echelon & thuggish sagacity should know that the era of impunity is over. In an unjust society silence is a crime.

Wike can head to anywhere but for sure, his political end has come. Power must shift. Wike cannot continue to be destroying existing peaceful political structure he meets all the time as he did in Obio/Akpor LGA when he was the chairman. Rivers state is a small Nigeria where tribes and zones exist. The Ikwerres have taken 8years so Wike should allow the Ogonis and Riverine zone have their own turn.

Is this not the same man that sacked the LG Chairmen in the State and declare their seats vacant? Let him smell out of it too. He should be preparing for a rerun. The Appeal Court is about to shock him.

Well spoken, from your write am convinced you are a true Rivers son. Wike forcefully took what doesn't belong to him. He undermined the Ogonis and Riverine zones with his greed. The time for the right thing is at hand now.

He has the right to appeal tho...but I felt in Wike's inner heart of hearts, he knw that the election that brought him as governor was massively rigged and screwed in favour of him...it was so glaring...had It been the difference is even less than 200k votes, it could have been different..
