Lol I must remind u that they are not the best bank in the world - dey even blocked the account I used to register my BVN in their office, while other banks I later sent the BVN UBN gav me dint block my acc., summary, u might not get the best service from them but they have consistently offered me one of the best rates sha.

Bros. I went to one of their branches to open account, I was told I can't be issued Visa card for now. They have issues with their Visa cards. Do you know if same rate applies to their master card?

I made some cumulative transaction today to the tune of RMB 2,146.52 and couldn't go further . My card was declined,I dialed GTB card-connect line and after 18 minutes 48 seconds someone picked up introduced herself and asked if she could help me. I narrated my ordeal,she asked for some information and asked me to wait while I sat enjoying the background advertisement rhythm. After additional 5 minutes,the call was put off. I re-dialed and after same process of waiting ,someone picked again and the key thing I heard was that they were all busy.

Like the usual me,hustler no dey carry last. I re-dialed and this time around after the normal waste of minutes of call,a lady picked up,I re-narrated my ordeal she asked the same question and still told me to wait. I kept waiting and enjoying the background music as usual but after 12 minutes 34 seconds,the lady re-surfaced and said the reason why my transaction couldn't go through was that I have reached the daily limit. I asked what the limit was and she said $1000 or the equivalent in any currency. I told her I have done just 3 transactions today and the total amount is less than $500 but before I could say any further word,she put off the call also.

My question is when will these Yoruba and French graduate leave the banking world for those that did Banking and Finance,Financial Management and some other banking related courses?

Why was I restricted then, if the daily limit on my account is $1000 or the equivalent in other currencies

if I am you I will likely buy all the items I can buy now and store them. There is no way that the naira wont be devalued very soon and the exchange will official exchange will go beyond 220 thereby making the black market rate as high as 240 or 250

This was the replied I got from Union bank this evening:

Dear Sir/Madam,
 
We acknowledge receipt of your mail.
 
We would like to inform you that the current bank’s Naira to US dollar exchange rate is N199.50.
 
However, for international card transactions the following charges apply:
 
ATM cash withdrawal - 15% of transaction amount plus N240.
POS or WEB transactions – 15% of the transaction amount.

This mean union bank master card rate is N229.43 to $1, which is high, even over high sef.
