Most people tipped Argentina in that match. That team was good. You guys forgot that it was that match that won Alampasu the golden glove. He was unbeatable that day. He was at his best.

Look for the stats of the Brazilian game, it was Attack versus Defense with Brazil mostly attacking.

They were good no doubt but i think this team is better. They could have been 3-0 up in the first half.

The two guys with the records did not have successful careers. Coulibaly and Pongolle. Success is not just about age. Coulibaly grew up in Italy, Pongolle is French so they were the right age yet their careers never took off or reached the heights in spite of early promise.

Osimhen should not be looking for a big club yet. He should go where he will play.
I am even surprised, Clubsides aren't chasing these guys, as it has always been the case in the past.
Even if they are, they have not made the headlines as much as one would expect looking at what Osimhen is turning out to be.

Good for their concentration anyway.

Boss...... Biko na.... There's a reason why I call the Nigerian 2013 Team "Super Class"............ Come on! Never before had a team (since 1985 across all continents) been so SUPER DOMINANT, COMPACT, Awesomely SOLID, TECHNICALLY-GIFTED, BALL-POSSESSIVE, TIKI-TAKA/TOTAL FOOTBALL-PLAYING, AND "SUPER DYNAMIC" AT THIS LEVEL (U-17) like THE Nigerian Golden Eaglets Super Class of 2013......... They are indeed the New "Golden Generation" who subsequent generations(like this 2015 class) will be "built upon".........

And Sir, you're spot on with your submission that possibly ONLY OSIMHEN AND UDOH WILL WALK INTO THE 2013 CLASS' FIRST "XI"

The younger Nwakali (Kelechi) has been brilliant for this team BUT WILL SIT ON THE BENCH COZ OF PLAYERS LIKE MUSA YAHAYA And KELECHI IHEANACHO IN HIS "PLAYMAKING ROLE".... Also Alfa Abdullahi comes to mind here (a central midfield class act.... Hopefully he joins a good club abroad soon)

But Kelechi Nwakali will get games (albeit from the bench) coz he's more of an all-round midfielder compared to Yahaya, Nacho (who's also a forward), Alfa and Ifeanyi matthew. K.Nwakali can "defend, attack, and dictate the pace"..... He's an all-rounder.

Enogela is very good but the older Nwakali (Chidiebere) and Idowu will bench him without fuss.....

John Lazarus is a modern-day fullback and a fantastic ball-crosser. He'll give Musa Mohammed a fight for a starting berth BUT mohammed's all-action style as Fullback plus the fact that he's also modern-day edges Lazarus to the bench.

Also, in the opening mins of our games against Brazil and Mexico, Lazarus was caught out a few times by the opponents' skillful wingers but he grew into the game as time went on. Musa Mohammed is always ready from the Word "GO"....... HE OVERLAPS LIKE LAZARUS BUT HE RECOVERS FASTER THAN LAZARUS TO RETURN TO HIS DEFENSIVE DUTIES.

BUT LAZARUS IS A BETTER BALL-CROSSER.

BUT YET AGAIN, ANOTHER EDGE IS MUSA IS A SET-PIECE SPECIALIST (FREEKICKS, PENALTIES....etc) and packs "bullets" in his boots... Lazarus' fullback colleague, Anumudu reminds me of this side of Musa mohammed. *smiles*

Chukwueze (I call him "ARJEN ROBBEN) will also get games but from the bench..... Will be hard sha.... That 2013 class had Savior Godwin, Yahaya, Chidera Ezeh, Bulbwa, Moses Simon(if I include the team's earliest campings b4 he rejoined at the u-20s)......... Hmmmmm.....

Bello, Ndidi and Aliyu Abubakar will be undisputed first choice in central defence...... Followed by Omego Prince Izu, and this class' Zakari (had been awesme so far--- my best Central defender in the 2015 team) and Ejike Ikwu..... This team's no.3 (Tobechukwu Ibe) was a class act during the preparations and was a first-teamer coming into the tournament but "injury" stopped him..... Thus giving the likes of Ikwu and Anumudu opportunities to shine..... Yeah coz Ibe is both a central defender and left back(his main role)..... A really good one (versatile).

The 2015 team isn't too spectacular but "surprises-loaded"....... Only a few top talents exist here but their teamwork makes all of them look like "they're on the same level"...... Strange team indeed.... But Lovely too.

The 2013 team is JUST "INCOMPARABLE"........ And I believe if a better class shall ever arise way into the future....... Such class would still arise from NIGERIA........*smiles*

You can take that to the bank, Sir.........**smiles**

Once again, You're right IN YOUR ANALYSIS but THANK GOD, they're all on the SAME TEAM GOING FORWARD FOR THEY'LL "ALL" MEET IN THE SUPER EAGLES AND TAKE OUR FOOTBALL EVEN HIGHER........*smiles*

Meanwhile, we ruled the world in 2013 for the fourth time with "THE GREATEST SIDE" EVER SEEN AT U-17 LEVEL............*smiles*

NOW, I wanna see us rule the world again BUT THIS TIME WITH "THE STRANGEST, MOST-UNCOORDINATED, AND MOST MYSTERIOUS SIDE" EVER SEEN AT U-17 LEVEL..........*smiles*

Let HISTORY RECORD THAT BOTH WERE CHAMPIONS AND EMERGED FROM THE SAME NATION........*smiles*

Mali, I admire and respect..... but I feel that This had been "Nigeria's Tournament all along........."

November 8th..... Loading.

Nov 9th........ The Story takes a happy ending....... Hopefully...... And births more Exploits.......

joseph1013:
If we were to merge the 2013 and 2015 together, the only person who would have made the first team is Osimhem, and that is if Success is injured, and maybe Udoh, though personally I would still prefer Alampasu because of his height and ability to organize the defence.

If you ask me o...this 2015 Mexican team is better than the 2013 set.

Not only did they have an unbeaten run prior to meeting us, they had only conceded 2 goals tops and are the second highest scoring team after us. Their big bros were not as good especially technically. These guys are a solid team and were just unlucky yesterday- and no, they didn't lose to a better side, just a more lethal one.

As for goal of the tournament.....hmm, well, on social media this morning, Okonkwo's goal was getting all the praises (and no, not from Nigerians).....but I think FIFA will give it to the Mexican. Easily, we had 3 contenders for goal of the tournament in the Nigeria vs Mexico game

But hey! Sports-Writing as a "little" side-job won't be a bad idea..... So thanks for the observation. GOD BLESS....... *smiles*

I will take these boys over any set especially if they win. Not because of individual brilliance which they also have but because this is the most team oriented set i have ever witnessed and they have character beyond their years.
Also Siasia should really look at Udoh, Nwakali, Osimhen and even Chukwueze, to me they are physically ready.

Just my honest opinion i can promise u that i am not Siasia but if i was i would at least take a close look at these boys there is no rule that says they can't play and plus most of our players will be held up by their clubs at least they should be on the bench learning. They are advanced children on a different level from their peers they should be promoted if they are capable of performing.

@ tbaba1234

To set things straight on this argument I have attached pics of the various match stats.

For the 2013 Mexican set, against Sweden they were better according to the stats. Against Nigeria (super 2013 set), they (Mexicans) had better possession, longer attacking periods. Against Brazil they shared 50% possession.

Now switch to this 2015 set and see the difference.

In the QF game of the 2015 Mexican set, Ecuador had the better possesion and greater stat, but lost to them.
In their game against Nigeria as well, stats show that we were better than them.

The stats are there for all to see. It is clear. The 2013 Mexican set was way better than this 2015 set. Just rewatch the 2013 Nig vs Mex final and have a glimpse of this fact.

There is nothing wrong in what your saying. The coach can always invite them to camp and check if some are better than those playing for him.

Nacho went from the U17 to the CHAN team and he almost played in the competition if not that Manchester City came for him.

Michael Owen was 18 years old and he was a star performer for England at the 1998 World Cup.

5 Things Learned From Golden Eaglets Victory Over Mexico

Nigeria's Golden Eaglets overcame the threat of Mexico in the semi-finals stage of the FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile early Friday morning, winning 4-2 to set up an all Africa final against Mali who had earlier came from behind to defeat Belgium 3-1.

Completesportsnigeria.com's IZUCHUKWU OKOSI takes a look at the five major talking points from the match.

1. Golden Eaglets' Stray Passes
The Golden Eaglets midfield gave away several passes which inadvertently put pressure on the defenders early in the game.

Emmanuel Amuneke will do well to ensure that his team do not succumb to such pressure from the Malian youngsters in the final.

The captain, Kelechi Nwakali, did his bit. Nwakali is known to play deeply from midfield and also make incisive passes going forward to the attacking players, but the defensive midfielders did not sufficiently help the defence like they should.

2. Golden Eaglets' Invincibility In Semi Finals Continues
Nigeria have never lost a game in the semi-finals of the FIFA U17 World Cup and that record remained intact after the 4-2 win against Mexico.

Nigeria defeated Guinea in the semi-finals of the FIFA JVC U16 tournament in 1985 via penalty kicks. The game had ended 1-1 at full time but the penalty kicks that followed afterwards ended 4-2 in favour of Nigeria.

The Golden Eaglets defeated Italy 1-0 in the semi-finals stage in 1987 though the Nigerians were defeated in the final by Soviet Union.

The Eaglets defeated Poland 2-1 in the semi-finals at Japan '93 and got the better of Burkina Faso in 2001 in Trinidad and Tobago, before losing in the final to France.

Nigeria won the U17 World Cup again in 2007 and before the final against Spain, they had defeated Germany 3-1 in the semis.

Nigeria hosted the world two years later and they defeated Spain 3-1 in the last 4 of the cadet World Cup. They got the better of Sweden by 3-0 in the United Arab Emirates in 2013 on their way to winning the title for the fourth time.

So the Golden Eaglets not only defeated Mexico who they defeated twice in 2013 to win the World Cup, but have ensured that their perfect semi-finals record is intact at the U17 World Cup.

3. Victor Osimhen 'Caged' By Mexico Defenders
The Mexicans had boasted prior to the game that they will stop leading scorer at the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile, Victor Osimhen, from scoring against them and they almost succeeded.

Osimhen may have scored his 9th goal of the World Cup with a penalty kick in the match, but overall, his effectiveness was curtailed by the Mexican defenders, especially captain Jose Esquivel, who was all over the Nigerian dangerman.

This forced the striker to drift to the wings occasionally and it paid dividends as his cross into the Mexican 18-yard box led to the penalty he converted after overlapping right back John Lazarus was bundled to the ground.

4. Golden Eaglets Are Slow Starters
The Golden Eaglets were not all gun blazing from the start of the game. They invited pressure from the Mexicans who dominated the early stages.

Emmanuel Amuneke's players gained confidence though as the match progressed.
The Eaglets will do well to start off the blocks against a physical Malian side in the final.

Finals of major tournaments are most times determined by the odd goals, so the Nigerians getting a goal early will put some nerves in the Malians who will play the world champions with enormous respect.

5. Mexico Profited From John Lazarus' Attacking Runs
The Mexicans attacked the right side of Nigeria's defence relentlessly in the first half.

John Lazarus at right back has had a good World Cup, but his desire to join the Eaglets' attack from his position left El Tri with lots of space to attack the world champions.

Amuneke's team have gained from both his defensive and attacking contributions, but while the team's attacking players need the goals and support they could get from other teammates, the defenders must not always go gung-ho.

Perhaps the right-back, along with Udochukwu Anumudu at left-back, should remain stationed at their positions against Mali, unless they are leading by an unassailable scoreline against the fellow Africans.

George Abbey Praises Amuneke’s U17 W/Cup Final Feat

Former Super Eagles defender George Abbey has hailed Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke for taking the team to the final of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

The Eaglets came from a goal down to beat Mexico 4-2, with the quartet of skipper Kelechi Nwakali, Orji Okonkwo, Osinachi Ebere and Victor Osimhen all getting on the scoresheet.

They will take on Mali in an all Africa final on Sunday.
According to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medal winner, a lot of credit should go to the Golmden Eaglets coach, Amuneke, for obvious reason:

"When results go wrong, the coach gets the blame/bullet. When things go right we should also commend/praise the coach.
Amuneke well done," Abbey wrote on his Twitter handle.

A win for the Eaglets will see them defend the trophy they won in 2013 in UAE and claim their fifth title.

Amuneke: It’ll Be Interesting Defending World Title Against Mali

Nigeria's U-17 , Golden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, is delighted his young team qualified for the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, thanks to a nervy cracking 4-2 victory against Mexico at the Ester Roa stadium in Concepcion early Friday morning.

Amuneke also relishes the all African final against the reigning African champions Mali on Sunday, and admits that defending the FIFA U17 World Cup in such a circumstance is going to be an interesting challenge.

"It was a difficult match in which both teams did their best. We give credit to Mexico because of their performance and its level of play,"
Amuneke, a one time Barcelona winger starts in his post match interview with FIFA.com.

"We are happy to be in the final and have the chance to defend the world title. Mali is a good team, Africa's champion. This is going to be an interesting challenge."

Kevin Magana gave the Mexicans an early lead in the eighth minute but Eaglets skipper, Kelechi Nwakali, powered home a stunning free-kick to level scores in the 35th minute.

Orji Okwonkwo doubled the Eaglets’ lead two minutes before the break but Diego Cortes's solo effort restored parity for Mario Arteaga's side in the 52nd minute.

Osinachi Ebere and Victor Osimhen's late record-equalling penalty saw the Golden Eaglets into an all-African final against Mali.

Mexico coach, Arteaga blamed his side's inabilty to take their chances in the encounter.

"We know that it would be a tough game, the toughest game in this World Cup. Both teams had chances.

"Unfortunately, we didn’t score, Nigeria did. This was the difference. But that is football.

After our equaliser we thought we controlled the game but then Nigeria scored surprisingly.

"We wanted to reach the final but we failed. Of course the team is sad but we have to focus now on the third place match."

Golden Eaglets’ Okonkwo Dedicates “Best Ever”Goal To Mother

Golden Eaglets striker Orji Okonkwo has described his goal in the 4-2 FIFA U-17 World Cup semi-final victory over Mexico as his best ever.

Okonkwo had played minor part in the tournament he started as replacement for Funsho Bamgboye who was suspended after two yellow cards.

"I have never scored a goal like this before and you cannot practice this kind of goal," Okwonkwo told the Nigeria Football Federation. "The goal I scored against Mexico today is a wonderful goal and I'm dedicating the goal to my mum who has been there for me; challenging me to be the best.

"My dad died last year; I remember him too but it is my mum that has been there for me all this while. I thank her so much."

Okonkwo scored thrice, including a goal against Mali on April 21, 2014, at the sub-regional West African Football Union (WAFU) B Tournament in Togo where the Golden Eaglets finished third behind Benin and Togo.

"I want to thank coach Emmanuel Amuneke for pushing me so hard," said the player, who was sanctioned and kept out of the squad for months prior to the African U-17 Championship in Niger Republic.

“He is a nice person who wants the best for us. Before the match, he called me and said: 'Orji, this is your chance, you can't afford to let yourself and Nigerians down' and when I scored, I kept saying 'coach, coach, coach’. I’m grateful to him.”
