CrazyMan:
Good morning and happy sunday to you all.

I'm writing this piece to notify most christian youths of their giving attitude towards God. I remember last sunday when I went to church, when it was time for offering, the girl sitting close to me just removed N20 (yes you heard me right TWENTY NAIRA!) From her purse, inserted it into the envelope and dropped it in the offering basket.

Looking at this lady, her sophisticated dressing, her phone, the kind of perfume oozing out from her, then dropping N20 to her creator.

To me I saw that as an insult to God. It would have been better if she didn't give any offering at all than embarrassing God.

If you love someone and want to appreciate him/her, even if you lack the funds to do so at the moment, you'll still go beyond your limits to prove to that person that you really love him/her regardless of what it'll cost you.

Likewise God. If we say we love him (God), then we should prove it by the kind of offerings we give to him.

If you have a boss you want to appreciate for a promotion he gave to you, would you give him a gift of N20 or N50?

Or you're a final year student whom your HOD just waived a course for so you'll graduate with your mates, would you buy him a gift of N20?

You'll end up provoking him and make him regret offering you that help rather than being commended for the gift.

In 2Samuel 24:24 David said.

And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

So if a whole king like david refused to take a land offered free of charge by a law abiding citizen. How much more we who battle with foundational principalities and powers on daily basics, and still come out victorious. Thanks to the power in the name and blood of Jesus.

I want to charge us today that as we go to our various churches, we should appreciate God, if if we have nothing to thank him for, our being alive should be a testimony of his love towards us. So double your offerings by giving him something that cost you much and I'm sure that he in return would bless you abundantly.

Happy sunday to you all.

What a miserable soul you are! If you really were as Christ-like as you claim, you would know the Bible strongly warns against judging others. Yet there you are, judging and condemning a lady for the amount she dropped just going by her clothes. You think everyone who drives a nice car and wears decent clothes must be financially buoyant all the time?

Besides, if you want to give to God, go and help out at a nearby soup kitchen or give to an orphanage near you. That is what the Bible recommends for giving to God. But you pastor worshippers will never learn!

For as long as we play the blind men and the elephant, we will keep interpreting the bible this way.

Else it shows that God is a being that sustains on material things. (that sounds blasphemous, abi?)

If the church should insist on members giving material things to God by giving to church, it becomes fraud (419 aka obtaining by tricks)

I give in church not out of a sense of giving to God but as to the needy, since the church is a registered NGO (charity organization).
And Christ said the needy we shall always have.

It's just a pity churches don't run orphanages or home for the elderly.

the perception and thinking of we youth nowadays is a major factor.

God Himself commanded us to give according to what we have and yes, God can never be deceived.

and to those who tailored their thinking to that the pastor is milking them off, well I don't know such church(es) you attends ... keep using that to justify your stinginess and waywardness. remember

"givers never lack"

Op d money is going to the Church or Pastor n his crew. Not God.

*Dont get it twisted* tongue
Yes its going to the pastor, but the pastor is working for God.

In luke 10:7 Jesus said

And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

What does the word "eating and drinking" mean...I'll explain.

Most pastors work full time which means their survival depends on the tithes and offerings.

Others are posted to remote villages to preach the gospel with little or nothing given to them for survival. How do you expect them to cope if you have the intention of giving N10 offering?

During Jesus stay on earth, despite the fact that he never worked, it was recorded that he had a tax collector, a tax collector can be interpreted to as an accountant. So its safe to conclude that Jesus had an account.

Question is who were funding the account, it was simply his followers who were touched by his message...that's how his ministry was able to survive. Cos people were bringing in offerings, donations...etc.

When we become stingy to God's work, we're simply hindering the flow of the gospel. When you give N10 to God's servant and expect him to run the church and his family with it, don't complain when you're being owed 3-8months salary in your place of work cos you brought it upon yourself.

Firstly, the money is not going to God but the church. What God needs is your gratitude et appreciation and trust me that's what Nigerian youths know how to give, if you doubt me, Visit a youth church within your neighborhood during Praise/Worship session.

Secondly, most youth are broke!

My brothers and sisters, it is high time we differentiate between religion and christianity. I think you are talking from the angle of religion, how far has your religion taken you. Religion is where your fellow human being makes you to understand that as a man of God or pastor you can only get to heaven through him/her or his/her church. Like you rightly indicated, religion takes, promising prosperity at end. Christianity is doing the way Christ wants us to do according to the scriptures. In summary of this,Christianity is simply living a christ-like life. Remember God looks at the heart which is your character and attitude towards your fellow human being and not what you give as an offering or what you wear to church. Christianity gives as it is written in the bible 'Ask and it shall be given to you' and does not concentrate with what amount of offering you give. Do not judge for not be judged. I rest my case! Shalom

Well its true that most of our pastors are d spenders of the money, just drop your offering believing its for the work of God and leave God to deal with the pastor knowing you have played your part.

now thats the template the now use
how about you look at it this way?
God is using the youths to deal with the pastor by making them drop peanuts
