I admire d guy's courage, determination and zeal. How many of professed Christians can do this? Most professed christians are very selfish and full of greed. Always wanting God to do something for them without even trying to at least live a self sacrificing life all because of HIM. In fact, some even claim to serve God because of d benefit they want to derive from HIM, and as such they can denounce him wn confronted with hard circumstances. Most Christians are hypocritical in their words and deeds. They claim d want to go to heaven but if death confronts dem dey will exclaim "is not ma portion ". I could just go on and on... Pls, d guy did wat he feels is right. Stand up for wat u believe, don't cower, be courageous and strong.

hmmm

All I wanna say is summarized in this pix

What then is the incentive behind your morality, it has to stem from somewhere. Religion and morality seem like contradictory and independent notions. But I ask, can the ideology, morality, exist or said to have ever existed without religion?
P.S I don't agree with your definition of religion, at least not mine.
Re: Sabbat: A Friend Turns Down A Job Opportunity by nigeriancuban: 9:29am On Nov 10, 2015
yes and so what's wrong with standing your grounds for what you believe in? honestly I like such people more coz they are always true to their words and from my experiences, they are much more reliable to deal with
.....I know someone who came back from overseas ,his reasons where; the cold weather was unfriendly for him to bear...and who can blame him for that, would he rather kill himself for money sake? No!

It's not about belief though.

I wouldn't advise anyone to take on extra responsibilities Saturday work, it may seem like a good deal if you're a desperate job seeker but trust me after a while, your life starts to feel like it's not yours.

You start to feel like your employers owns you(Especially if you're single/unmarried) and that's when you start to resent your work.

As a married man/woman it means you do not spend Saturdays with your family and miss out on many family commitments.

Anyway it may work for others but certainly didn't work for me.

I work only Mondays - Fridays now, my weekends are mine to spend with my family and that's what matters in the end.

My Facebook friend has turned a job which is a rear occurrence in Nigeria considering the state of the economy. His reason being that the job requires him to work on Saturday which is against his belief. He considers Saturday a Sabbath day which is meant to be kept holy and based on that fact, he can't work on that same day. My question is, which day is truly the sabbath day?

I'm so proud of d guy.Heaven wil reward him.Glad that I keep the sabbath as a sign between me and God

You're the person getting it twisted, God doesn't "boss" your life, he has given each person the choice of life and death, it's left for that person to make a choice, but his advice is that you chose life. Because I get offered a bribe doesn't mean God supported it, least to say that I should take It!

If he is fine with his decision of not taking the job. Then I'm fine with it too.If I get a job that will make me work on a sunday,I will drop it just that same way.

If you can't stand for something then you will fall for anything.

That's his religious belief and he is ready to stand by it. I might not agree with him but I certainly respect him for being able to stand up for what he believes in no matter the cost. God will give him another job that won't compromise his beliefs.

Sometimes I wonder. About the extent religion affects coexistence. Recently I told my wife that I will not employ a Muslim man who feels obligated to pray every few hours, to work at my security stand post! For goodness sake all the robbers or kidnappers need to do is to wait for the prayer time to operate. So while Abdul is out praying I'm at the mercy of robbers! So what exactly am I paying him for? To pray? We need to be thinking now haba! I was in Israel a few months back. With all the enemies Isreal has on every side what do you think will be the fate of that nation if on sabbath day they go to sleep? OP think now? You cannot please God by observing laws. I have read and I'm convinced that there is so much value in rest, particularly that weekly rest but when it becomes a law we are no different from the pharisee of Jesus's day. Have you imagined how much of a task it must have been to rescue an animal trapped in a pit? It was totally forbidden to do that kind of work on the sabbath or say pluck ears of corn in the field like Jesus's disciples did! You had no reasons to be in the field whether for good or bad reasons. You are the type of people who would have attacked Jesus in those days. Don't be fanatical. Understand what you are doing!

My sister recently turned down an incredible job offer too because it would require her working on saturdays. And as a Seventh Day Adventist she would have none of that. As an Atheist,i just shook my head

My church members always claiming to be the only ones that is worshiping God in truth and in spirit.yes, saturday is truly the holy day of worship but since you are not seeing the job that will nit allow you worship your zgid in saturday why not pick it and tell God to change For you.hunger never beat you before.
