agaugust:They haven't received any meko frigates or Tiger corvettes and only recieved one C28A corvette, thus far. But hey lets say for argument sake they've received all their surfuces combatants and subs and we received our combatants under project Biro. And for some reason Algeria decides to invade us by sea as you mentioned above. Now firstly the South African coast has some of the roughest waters in the world, thus not very conducive to an amphibious invasion. Secondly the currents in our Waters make it prime hunting ground for diesel Subs, just ask the Nato fleet that was sunk by a single SAN sub in 2007 during an exercise. Even with ASW helicopters it would be near impossible to sink one of our Subs in our Waters. Thirdly we have Link ZA( tactical data link) something Algeria can only dream of!! Thus all our Navy,Air force and Army assets would instantly know exactly were the Algerian fleet is if even only one of our Radar/Aircraft/Satellite/Ships or even a soldier on a dinki boat spots their fleet, we would also have the advantage of knowing exactly were every single of our assets are at all time, right down to a single soldier. We would know precisely when and were to attack their fleet, we would always be one step ahead of the enemy at all times. Forthly The Algerian fleet would be without any air support, thus easy targets for our Hawks armed with glide bombs. Lastly I can't exaggerated enough of how much of an advantage it is to poses something like a tatical data link, its a massive massive force multiplier. |

lionel4power:Yes Iran is a regional power that packs a medium punch like Turkey and Egypt. But to be honest most of the weapons platforms you listed from Iran are mostly old Soviet era systems. Currently the only air defense system on the Iranian side worth noting is the S-300 that's if the Russians have started delivery of them and that said it also depends on the numbers as well. If Iran gets the J-10 and Su-30's it would surely boast there air capability. But we should also note that Israelis operate some of the most advanced fighter fleet in the world even better then the Chinese in some aspects and early next year Israel will start receiving deliveries of there F-35B's and there's been comments on janes defense that the Israelis has already started developing local tech for there F-35's. So Israel will still enjoy a relative Edge over Iran and the Middle East for some time in Air defenses. I don't know the accuracy of your report on 100 IL-78's because that's a bit excessive if you look at the size of the Iranian airforce fighter fleet. The reason I say this is that not even UK, Germany or France for that matter can maintain that number of in flight refueling platforms at there current budgets and in truth Iran is not the league of those nations. All things aside Iran will do damage to any country who so wishes to invade them. |

lionel4power:Am happy you brought things out clearly. Most people do not know why Isreal is scared of Iran's growing power and tech. In the middle east. If Iran should have nuclear weapons they will control the middle east. Has any1 asked why Saudi sponsor Egypt? Or why Isreal is very interested in Iran nuclear deal? No nation in the middle east produce some of the weapons they produce. |

lezz:Even your own source proves you wrong. You are indeed a true dunder head I have ever met on Nairaland. I quote from your source: There are many reasons that attribute to this growing water crisis in South Africa. Climate change has affected water supplies within the region. Rains that usually come and supply the country's water has come infrequently. For example in Durban the Dams are 20 percent lower than at the start of 2010. Due to this fact cities are looking to impose water restrictions on communities. Quote closed. Some of the people must just stop analysing water scarcity of SA because they know anything about SA, they must just come and ask us. Here is the list of some of many dams in SA and they are a very big, however the list is incomplete. We have infrastructure the problem is rain to fill up those dams. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dams_in_South_Africa Here is Nigeria's. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dams_and_reservoirs_in_Nigeria That is all a lie. South Africa has some of the biggest dams in the world. The problem is the rain. http://m.ewn.co.za/2015/11/08/Reliingious-organisations-to-pray-for-rain http://mobi.iol.co.za/#!/article/we-need-rain-please-pray-1.1943390 |

lezz:We finally got some sanity back to this thread and you come back to spoil the fun yet again. Since you don't want to stop go read on how Nigerian cities only has 30% access to potable water. Water borne diseases like Cholera and Typhoid kills more then 80 000 people in Nigeria. http://ynaija.com/opinion-nigerias-gdp-rebasing-and-voodoo-statistics/ Nigeria is not a water scarce country and yet the FG by don't provide quality tap water over 80m of its citizens that's why bottled water is such an lucrative industry in Nigeria and has become a pollution problem to your waterways. Bore holes is largely used in Nigeria as a means to water security something that's not a luxury in Southern Africa. Nigeria also has a lot of water contamination issues even worse then any other african countries due to decades of oil pollution particular in some areas in the delta also. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/11/10/africa/niger-delta-oil-pollution/ SA has its fair share legacy infrastructure problems yet per % of the population we fair better then Nigeria as a hole. This current problem of water is not just a SA issue but currently an SADAC wide problem. I must also admit that years of lack of investments into water infrastructure upgrades is contributing and has exacerbated the current SA water crisis due to old systems not being maintained in some local gov areas. But as hole SA has done a lot in providing water to majority of citizens, and being a developmental State we will continue to have our own share of problems like all countries worldwide. And while you at it please stop your narrow minded tribalist rhetoric of zulus 1/2/3, because as we all know by now Nigeria is at a crisis point themselves where Biafra independence has once again come to the fore and it has led Buhari to unconstitutionally even ignore court orders to release a certain Mr Kanu. Let's end this, if you truly wanna discuss something let's look for African solutions to all our problems because in reality we all in the same boat. |

The problem with you _idiots is that you're _fucking self-righteous and hypocritical. 15 million South Africans are without basic water and sanitation . Deal with that and stop bellowing like a buffoon. N.B I thought you were the drooling newt who said he wasn't going to quote me again. Seems I always have a way of crawling under your light skin. | Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Msauza(m): 1:58pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
lezz:You have misquoted Snyder and he does not not suffer from dyslexia at all. You are confusing characters here. You are even wrong with your 15 million because your source states clearly that in 2008 there were some 15 million South Africans who did not have access to sanitation and water majority of whom lived in villages, but they admmited that the situation improved to a greater extent ever since. The only part of SA that still struggles with water supply and sanitation is the one that is situated in remote area where installations of pipes is impossible since most of those villages are in mountaneous places. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by lezz(m): 2:02pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
Msauza:Let me also quote from the same source. Note that you said south Africa is dry which I never denied . I only opined that there are also other issues contributing to your water crisis like infrastructure and water facility. Here is an excerpt from the quote : Also, preventative measures that were put in place such as the construction of dams in the area have not even started or are still in the process of being built and those structures that are in place now are slowly collapsing. Those in rural areas still lack access to water. One report stated that in 2008 about 5 million people lack access to water and 15 million lack access to basic sanitation. This number has improved greatly since the end of apartheid in 1994, however these numbers are still too high and not one person should ever lack access to the most basic necessity of life, which is water. Overall, infrastructure is lacking, whether or not it is old pipes or ignorance the South Africa water crisis is here and affecting millions. There has been a backlog in services since the end of apartheid and that needs to change. The national and local governments of South Africa need to do a better job of offering services to their people. Supplies need to be given to those most in need. By taking care of the rural population the government will be helping the cities, because it is these rural communities where the damage to the water supply is beginning due to lack of access to sanitation supplies and clean water education. It is either you didn't read the post to the end or you're a hopeless Zulu suffering from word-blindness and having the attention span of a domestic squirrel. _idiota. |

lezz:The writer of this article should have instead visited Nigeria and other African countries to assess how far such countries have fared up to now as far as provision of clean water to the public is concerned. The world is expecting SA to be spotless and look like Europe while they are ignoring the rest of Africa. I assure you, SA is by far better than the rest of the continent. |

jln115:Technology alone doesn't win wars. Equipment, the Iranians are just as well equipped than both the Israelis and Turks. The only area Israel and Turkey have an advantage is in superior air power. In other areas, the Iranians have an advantage. Training, no evidence the turks and Israelis are better trained. |

SA is experiencing El Nino which is now impacting on its water storages and the problems has less to do with infrastructure. Bringing infrastructure into this has more to do with politics by some dissidents who are trying to score some cheap political goals. I have been living around Gauteng from cradle and this situation as we were told is caused by drought which has been hitting KZN for some time. http://af.reuters.com/article/southAfricaNews/idAFL8N13532R20151110 |

snydergp1st:Your only supply ship is obsolete about 30 years old and SAN is thinking to replace it, your fücking weak and helpless SAS Drakensberg that ran away from Ivory Coast just because one NAF Alpha jet arrived in Abidjan and Nigeria used it to threaten you and South Africa obeyed our command to leave West African oceans. That big fat weak supply ship will be sunk in 5 minutes by Algerian air force air launched anti-ship missiles. You say you gonna buy new weapons in war? Algeria too can buy much more than South Africa because they are far richer than your debt ridden country where SANDF has been declared cash broke. Algeria will defeat and colonize South Africa and African Union will be begging the Arabs to free you. |
