I will praise this government when I see this government workers who have been accused, tried and jailed.

Remember, those CBN staffers that stole the money that was meant to be burnt are now free. The case has been closed. Nobody talks about it again.

This is a useless country. I can't wait for this nation to disintegrate so that we can be free.

Barely 24 hours after they were retired, five of the affected 17 federal permanent secretaries may face trial for alleged corruption.

One of those slated for trial has been interrogated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission(ICPC).

Another, who is rated as brilliant, allegedly indulged in using public funds for exotic vehicles,  foreign trips and outrageous hotel bills.

It was also learnt that two of those involved were  linked to alleged bribery scandals.

The retired Perm Secs include Aliyu  Ismaila; Godknows Igali; Alhaji Baba Farouk; Abdulkadir Musa; Linus Awute; Fatima Bamidele; Obinna John Chukwu; Ezekiel Oyemomi; Anasthesia Nwaobia; Tunji Olaopa; George A. Ossi ; Mike John Nwabiala; Mohammed Bashar and Abdullahi Yola.

The fate of four others was unknown yesterday as they were either not given retirement letters or put on the list of those deployed.

The floating permanent secretaries are: Odusote Ibukun; Henry Akpan, Nkechi Ejele and Dr. James Obiagwu.

According to investigation, the Presidency was disturbed by security reports that many permanent secretaries embezzled public funds with impunity and were living above their means.

The intelligence survey also revealed massive acquisition of property by permanent secretaries and top directors in the civil service.

It was gathered that the security reports were confirmed by the disclosures in some books by Governor Nasir El-Rufai and a former Permanent Secretary, Dr. Goke Adegoroye.

Some of the allegations being probed include acquisition of choice properties; $4.5b tax holidays;   N1.9billion Ebola Fund(including N900million for isolation tents); $2billion arms deal; N29billion fictitious contracts; N275.5million budget for 2015 poll monitoring; the mismanagement of subsidy funds; questionable waivers and N2.4 billion fertiliser scam.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “About five of the retired permanent secretaries might face trial based on discreet investigation by some security agencies on how they mismanaged their ministries.

“Some of these permanent secretaries appeared before one or two anti-graft agencies for questioning. They are already aware of their pending trial.

“Some of these senior civil servants have been pleading for soft landing but the government may not listen to them.”

Asked to be specific on those affected, the source added: “The anti-graft agencies will soon take charge.”

A former Permanent Secretary in the FCT, Adegoroye said compared to the success recorded in public service reform between 2004 and 2007, “there is now [in 2014] more rot to be cleared within the civil service system” .

El-Rufai said: “This notion of let’s protect our own, no matter how bad they are, is the problem of the public service, where the federal service is now, is more troubling, because only those that are in finance, supply, and so on get to be permanent secretaries these days. The proportion of those in the lines where there is money that become Permanent Secretaries is a major indictment on the federal public service.”

On the fate of the floating perm secs, a source said: “I think there was a little error in the compilation of the list of those retired. While the Presidency put the figure at 17, a statement by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation said it was 16.

“When the list of deployment was released, these permanent secretaries were neither among those retired nor assigned.

“The Head of Service is making necessary clarifications from the Presidency.”

Until an APC politician is probed I will take this anti-corruption war with a pinch of salt.

An example is the confirmation of Fashola even though he was accused of paying 78 million naira for a website.

I agree that there is no politician that is squeaky clean, I also agree that PDP politicians may even be more corrupt, however calling the misappropriation of 78 million naira nothing is the reason why our leaders loot because we will always defend them.

78 million is approximately £285000, now food for thought David Chaytor an MP (equivalent of a senator in Nigeria) was jailed in 2010 in Britain (a country far richer than Nigeria ) for misappropriation of £18000.

I wish you guys living in Nigeria goodluck

I will hold brief for BRF in this instance for a number of reasons.

(1) 78m is not for building of website only, it includes "Content acquisition" which entails paying people for intellectual property; Requirements gathering; Project Management; Website Building; Website daily operation; Website Management and Disaster recovery for 5years. I have been involved in jobs like this and you have a lot to factor to enable you meet your service levels

(2) There was open tender and several companies bidded, so, it was competitive.

(3) It was reviewed by Min of Science and Technology who gave Technical approval before going to Public procurement who will give commercial approval with the entire process bn managed by Min of Budget and Planning who hold a fine comb.

(4) On approval, it was made public on the LASG procurement website alongside hundreds of other contract approvals, so, there was no concealment. The only thing CACOL did was go to the website, pick what looked outrageous and without asking for an explanation sensationalised and unfortunately, there are too many lazy people on social media who just follow the crowd.

Lagos State during BRF, publishes their performance usually a 56 page document prepared and delivered openly by then Commissioner for Budget and planning Ben Akabueze. A little use of Google before reacting will help Nigerians to be better informed and then their quality of argument will be better.

Enough of "alleged trials " all we craved for is action ! Action !! and Action!!!

we are done with all these speculative and paper trial.
i frown seriously at any form of corruption and its vices but will be eager to read and see where these defaulters are brought to book with convincing and factual evidence of corruption and embezzlement.

but telling us that they are still gathering evidence that will nail them to me is arrant nonsense.

so tired of any process of gathering evidence, now yearning and hungry for convictions and probably recoveries of stolen funds and properties followed by Jail terms, then i can heave a sigh of relief that soon, Nigeria will be free of corrupt practices in the civil service.

Corruption was indeed the principality, power, ruler of the darkness and spiritual wickedness that was walking to and fro over the length, breadth, depth and height of Nigeria. We need help because Buhari alone cannot change this endemic disease in 4 years which has been growing slowly and purposefully like cancer over 50 years of the existence of this country. Nigeria dreams, thinks, breaths, feels, likes, loves, worships, and exalts corruption. We need great deliverance.
That's why we voted PMB to put corruption to its barest minimum. He'll definitely need four more years to to get this country back on the road to recovery and prosperity. God bless Nigeria.

DO NOT BE AFRAID OF ME BUT BE AFRAID OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS-PMB.
Its no news that the civil servants have the manual of corruption in their hands wherein the politicians learn how to steal. This is an era where the system would outsmart any individual civil servant or politician.meanwhile El rufai is holding sway in this govt, no surprises his resolve and intelligence speak for itself.
