lionel4power:Let's say Germany decided they are leaving NATO, all their equipment is still linked with link 16/22 they still have the code for link 16/22 . If NATO wanted to denie access to link16/22 they would have to change the entire code for link16/22 thus basically they will have to create a new data link. Thus Germany kan still use link16/22 even if they fight without NATO. South Africa acquired link 11 from NATO( although nobody knows how) and we could still use it eventhough we are not in NATO. |

lionel4power:Israel have a much more powerful Gunship fleet, so combine that with their Tank fleet. |

jln115:I believe when you join NATO you come wit your own equipments... but they give you access to techs that you don't have. when you leave NATO....support for that tech ends.. thereby you'll need to build your own to fill-in. that takes back to square one |

| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 6:46pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
lionel4power:Yes they give you access to link16/22 by giving you the code. Once you have the code the only way they can denie you access is by developing an entirely new code...thus a new data link. |

lezz:What exactly is your problem. Your emotional outburst prove to me you are either a teenager or a very old fart with deep psychological issues. You post outdated data yet you want people to take you seriously. I can play your game of insults but I'm way beyond such childish rhetoric. |

iblawi:you have no idea how proud I am of my country. I have paid a visit to almost all the national natural attractions I know about(if you are kind enough to check my dp you ll see me at the Ikogosi warm spring. The problem is overtime Nigeria have left it patriots with little to be proud of. The only real thing we have to be proud of is a Beautiful history, Beautiful culture and a "strong Union". As per development, it is just so unfortunate but we seem to be going nowhere, we are running round in circles and I keep repeating that we have some of the most unpatriotic treacherous elements at the helm of affairs. We have men that are very ready to take advantage of any little position they have to steal from the nation. there are many unmentionable atrocities been perpetrated at the expense of this country that I can no longer afford to be too hopeful. We will get there I know but for now let us not deceive ourselves. |

snydergp1st:Shush, faggy. Your deep problem is of personal identity crisis . You have an issue with facts and you're a blind patriot with a heavy burden of ignorance. You're not only a clown, you're mired deeply in the mud of self-deception and a misplaced sense of self -worth. Your selective reading makes you one of nairaland's emerging idiotic buffoons. Now blow me away. |

jln115:South Africa sells what weapons to world powers? When? How? You sold about 2,000 MRAPs to USA, then USA builds it's own better MRAP superior to yours and manufactured 25,000 units. So what is the big deal selling MRAPs, is that a ballistic missile? Namibia builds MRAP and Nigeria too is developing an MRAP with Proforce. Selling Umkhonto to Finland? Finland is NOT a world power, and they bought a few of your missile for the sake of returning favour in your business deal since you are buying hundreds of Badger IFV engine and chassis from them. Southies did not sell any offensive weapon to any world power anywhere you nitwit ! Your defense industry is NOT one of the largest in the world, you build jet fighters and warships? Your SA export ranking is almost bottom table on the top 20 in the world, you are only ahead of lowly Uzbekistan or so. |

jln115:Datalink is no weapon and it won't win you a war, the enemy too has its own communication system. Then you never know if Algeria and Egypt have tactical data link, not every country makes noise about it's military communication capacity on internet. Algerian navy has SAMs superior to Umkhonto, they have on Tigre frigates a different missile from Russia with 40 km range BVR ! All SAAF jets will be deleted from the sky. SAAB opened a branch factory in South Africa, your ANC law forces them to give majority shares to incompetent Zulu dummy directors who just sit idle on the board collecting huge salaries. SAAB is exporting technology to it's branch, the stuff you have there is shipped to you from Sweden, you do NOT own SAAB corporation, it is a Swedish company that can pull the plugs and render your Gripen jets powerless anytime. SAAB has REFUSED to allow Umbani bomb on Gripen you dummy. Thales South Africa is same as Thales of France, they own you ! See the company logo it's the same. Thales exports tech stuff to it's Southie branch and runs the factory, no Zulu brain can ever build a radar. Thales is a French company and they can dump you if they wish to cripple your defence industry. You guys actually do NOT own 90% of your so called local defence industry, BAE is also British company with branch in South Africa, Rheinmetall is a German company with branch in South Africa just like Toyota and Ford motors. You South Africans own less than 10% of the technology you claim to have, it's all imported from Europe and they can paralyze South Africa is they wish.....foreigners own your defence industry unlike Nigeria where Nigerian army engineering corps owns Igirigi APC, Badeh Aerospace owns Gulma drone, Proforce owns Leapard LAV, Nigerian air force AFIT college owns Amebo drone, Ichoku drone, bomb disposal robot wheeled and tracked versions, and Farawa light aircraft, DICON owns our infantry weapons and equipment products, we own ourselves in Nigerian defence industry, we do NOT depend on Europe to open branches and build weapons in Naija. Nigerian defense industry is independent, South African defence industry is 90% colonized by Europe today 2015....SA is not free yet o ! Mandela only got Zulus/Bantus the political offices....the rest of South Africa is still owned by Europe.

lionel4power:You do know that Iran is a over 1500km away from Israel. The Iron dome system was quite effective against Hamas rockets at such a short distance and time to respond to those. Now imagine what 50 Jericho III's will do when armed with non nuclear warheads. Iran currently still possess limited means of attacking Israel but in 5-10years they may be a hole new different opponent if they go ahead with there proposed acquisitions. |

Patchesagain:Boko Haram had Nigerian military commander when they started and they helped provide training and intelligence. They infiltrated the whole security agencies and they had people in top positions. Do you think people who used sticks and matches to oppress civilians just start carrying heavy guns and tanks overnight? |

We also have things others wish to have. Nigeria is a great country. We have grown economically, politically and in many others ways since 1999 although not at the pace we wished cos of corruption. But we should also appreciate the fact that we now have buhari. The guy is trying his best to fight corruption and we are feeling the effect already. I see this as a major growth.

agaugust:1. You don't know what a Data link is, and secondly neither Algeria or Egypt have a tactical data link. 2. Why if the umkhonto is so sh1t, are why are they using them on their flagship vessels? 3. Thales South Africa Pty Ltd is a South African company founded in South Africa, by South Africans and is run by South Africans, just how BAE land systems was/is a South African company. And when did SAAB refuse that we integrate the al tariq on the Gripen? It's our weapon and our fighters, we can do what ever the Bleep we like. 4. What's your point? Never did I say SAAB was a South African company? All I pointed out was that South African technicians maintain our fighter fleet....and I even mentioned that we imort all our spares from Europe... So why are you arguing something that I'm agreeing with you about? 5.Rheinmetall is co owned by Rheinmetall Germany and Denel dipshitt. And secondly I never said BAE was South African. Lastly don't compare your defence industry with ours.... That's like comparing the Nigerian cricket team with the Proteas |

agaugust:As an analyst this reaps of ignorance and jealousy on a grandiose scale. As the largest economy and populous nation in Africa who has been independent for over 50years now, where are you on the top 20 list. Where is your indigenous weapons exports and please don't give me the whites gave SA weapons tech. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by snydergp1st(m): 9:24am On Nov 13, 2015 |
agaugust:Firstly Europe tried to paralyze us before even Nigeria , and it mostly failed on the military front and it actually made us independent largely. That's why today we can put our own sub systems on every single Gripen, Frigate and submarines including building components for the A400M, something that no other sub saharan country can currently do not even Algeria or Egypt We have 100% SA owned companies who manufacture drones including our latest Africa's very first hydrogen powered UAV, tech that's today still beyond your reach. http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-41271/ Your drones are university grade mock ups nowhere near even as high tech as our old vulture and seeker who has actually seen combat in middle east and Angola. BAE Land Systems belongs 100% to Denel so all the tech is owned by SA now. Rheinmetall Defense SA is a joint German and Denel owned company with 51% owned by the Germans so where the hell did you get your 90% from. http://www.rheinmetall-defence.com/en/rheinmetall_defence/company/divisions_and_subsidiaries/rheinmetall_denel_munition/index.php You clearly lack any insight into defense industry Mr defense analysts, for you to come and clearly be so mischievous don't really surprise me at all. The America you "claim" to live in is majority made up of immigrants and slaves, your very country can also not function without your Lebanese and Chinese masters in charge of your infrastructure building. Your educated people would rather leave your country and settle on the very "white mans land" you so worship. This is 2015 not the years of african independence struggles of whites must leave africa. You are an "immigrant" yourself so why always refer to South African born 8th generation whites as Europeans when second generation Nigerians in America and SA see themselves as American and South African. If you wanna discuss military related issues let's use common sense not fantasies. |

It is now certain that SANDF is reestablishing the UAV squadron which is 10 squadron as confirmed by Mr Masondo. So we can now be rest assured that the seeker 400 armed versions were bought by SANDF. http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-39649/ |

You south Africans have the fobia for Nigeria imprinted in your DNAs. The Internet is a virtual sphere without boundaries but it still beats my imaginations why there are only South Africans amongst Africa's 53 nations who have been e-squatting on this thread with a feverish anxiety to prove their worth to Nigerians ![]() What are you afraid of? snydergp1st:I wondered how Europe plans to paralyze you by opening branches in your country to produce weapons. snydergp1st:You are making a big mistake by saying tech is beyond our reach. Let me remind you that necessity and interest is what drives innovation. There is nothing Dat makes hydrogen powered vehicle beyond our reach if for any reason it becomes necessary for us to build it we will. I didn't study engineering but I can still tell you how hydrogen is used to power most vehicle there is absolutely nothing complex about it. Badeh aerospace developed drones within a very shot time, same with Airforce Institute technology because of necessity and interest. Most middle east country producing weapons are also doing so because of necessity and interest. Same with China, US, Russia and others. snydergp1st:Have any South African University produced such drone? snydergp1st:Why is it call BAE and not DENEL snydergp1st:Nigerians don't worship white. We have always been independent. snydergp1st:I don't know of a second generation Nigerians and 8th generation whites. snydergp1st:We are still military weapon development. |
