On Friday, 13th of November, the University of Calabar, (UNICAL) Non teaching staffs toke to the streets but in the school environs to express their anger by means of a peaceful protest about the institution delaying their salaries.

Suretunez reporter spoke with one of the staff who refused to be mentioned said: ”Not minding our Labour, the hardship we have been through we have given our very best to the great institution, but our salary has been delayed for just no reason, he further lamented; we had previously embarked on a warning strike, but since then till this minute nothing has been done about our salary, we had gone to the Bursary unit of the institution but was rejected entry in justification that the unit is running low on catch.

In his last speech he poured all the blame on the current VC of the institute, Prof. James Epoke, whose tenure ends on November 30th as the Vice Chancellor of the institution after 4 years in Office.

Professor Ekpoke replacement will be Prof. Zana Itiunbe Akpagu, the 10th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
