This thread is dedicated to everyone from the SS and the Niger Delta. It's an avenue for us to know ourselves better. Let's kick start by introducing ourselves, our ethnicity, our LGAS, our community and our state.

Let's also discuss what bothers us as a region and if possible profer solutions to such problems.

I think we all need to be ashamed of ourselves. I have been going through the Yoruba thread and I couldn't help but envy how they are busy promoting the Yoruba nation and her interest. I understand that we are multi-ethnic in the South South but we all need to start promoting ourselves and interests. We have Ikwerres(HopeAtHand), Ogba(Truckpusher), Esan(Erunz, Mogidi etal), Ijaws(Kel4Soft, IzonOwei etal), Urhobos(Goodboiy etal), Itsekiris, Isokos(Philips70 and co), Ibibio(Nigerianvenom etal) etc on this forum. Why can't we emulate the Yorubas and even topple them? Should we continue to play second fiddle in every thing? Or perhaps we expect people outside our region to tal“ about us?

In Nigeria, we have the most problem. Our demand for resource control, maladministration, marginalisation and OIC's instigated ethnic conflict. Lots of issues to be addressed that we MUST address. What becomes of us if we can't front our owÑ interest?

I hope I made sense(PS: This shouldn't be a partisan thread)

Thanks OP for this wonderful thread

I'm not in politics because of self-enrichment. I'm in politics primarily to see to the development of our people. To promote our interest. To capture power in order to implement/influence favorable policies. To make the average Niger-Deltan feel proud at all times and bring sustainable development for our region and Nigeria. But how do we achieve all these without contributing our bit by promoting our course on this forum? How do we strengthen integration amongst people within the region? How do we put ALL our political leaders to check? How do we promote all sportmen/women and other entertainers that are making us proud? How do we do these without promoting us?

So, you will have impostors speak for Ikwerre and Ogba people.
This thread will make for a comic relief too.

Why can't the OP create an Edoid people thread, while the Ijaws create an Ijaw people thread.

The Yorubas you are mimicking didn't create SW thread, because they knew there are non Yorubas in SW( the Arogbo and apoi Ijaw and the Eguns) and that there are Yoruba people outside SW, the Okuns and Kwara Yorubas.

So instead the thread was named Yoruba commonwealth thread.

Why are the Edoids and Ijaws hell bent on land grabbing Igbo speaking lands by hiding under the Niger delta tag?

By excluding the Ndoni, Egbema, Anioma, Etche and Oyigbo, are you saying that those groups are no longer part of SS or Niger delta simply because they might have pro Igbo disposition?

Is the whole aim of this Edoid/ Ijaw led Niger delta to promote anti Igbo agenda?

Tonye you do make sense..but as you know it some of our brothers are already against the move for resource control and then you wonder why..we have been made to be divided so that we don't fight for the common course..we need to sensitize our brothers so that we all share one thought and fight for what is right....as for me I am for the niger delta movement..

Why not?
This is nairaland not Edoland or Ijawland.

The Ijaws and Edoids are always commenting on Biafrans threads that should have been strictly for Biafrans, telling us who is Igbo and who is not.

Its only right that they are put to check too. If they don't want anyone else to comment here, perhaps they should take the meeting to their village town hall.

It's well within my right to comment on any topic in nairaland, especially a thread about a region where we have a significant Igbo presence like SS or Niger delta.

Stop wasting ya time talking about resource control because it will never come until we finish drilling and selling all our oyel.

You have no resources to control because the oyel in the SS belongs to all Nigerians. The man in sokoto/Oyo/Taraba/Enugu has as much right to the oyel as the creek men.

Your clamour for resource control is an attempt to corner the wealth of the nation and we will never let that happen.

You have NDDC and derivation and so you should hold your kainkain drinking leaders to account. There will be resource control after the last cup of our crude oyel has been lifted from your ravaged ancestral lands and sold.

Pazienza take note.

Ijaw expansionism is still on going.

I thought GEJ said he would build floating cities for landless Ijaws?
Now he has failed his people, they are back to expansionism.

Let me start by saying that Igbos don't need Biafra. We are contented in Nigeria where we are still collecting our monthly allocations from Abuja. Besides, we have two states featuring on NDDC.

The oyel in the SS belongs to all Nigerians and any attempt by any group to corner the national wealth will be met with very destructive force.

There's no SS ethnic group.
Edo man should create a thread for Edo people and not include Igbos in it.

Please, there is NOTHING like SS or Niger Delta.

Have you heard of NN or NW or WW people? Rather you have Odua people, Arewa people or Igbo people. Let Ijaws, Edos, Itsekiris, Ibibios etc create their threads and stop lumping everybody together for your selfish reason. What relationship does the Etsako man has with the Ijaw or Etche to be lumped together. Or does a Bini man know anything about the Calabaris, or Ika man be joined to an Ibibio in the name of SS?
