At least we can now agree that both parties made mistake in this TSA saga; my problem with APC supporter is the way they go about condemning everything about the past administration even when the current administration is not getting all its acts right. It is a mark of hypocrisy
If you can be very very honest with yourself, you will realise that everything the APC supporters do is a direct response to wild accusations by supporters of the past administration, just mention it. They claimed Buhari and his friends were stealing N25billion daily, how much more silly can an accusation be?... and even with the facts laid down in black and white for all to see and be informed, the supporters of the past administration still desperately try to perpetuate the obvious falsehood to deceive the gullible ones out there. APC under such circumstances has no choice but to defend itself.

If you follow the issue logically, the APC is in power currently so they have no need to be attacking; rather it is the opposition PDP that keeps coming up with attacks while apc defends itself.

You guys baffle me. Where has a case of graft been alleged in the signing of the contract? Do you even know what graft is? Keep allowing political thieves to manipulate your minds.

It is really tiring. if you go to a shop and pay N50.00 for an item it is reasonable to assume you were happy to pay N50.00 for the item. You do not go to another shop and see the same item for N30.00 and then claim the original shop committed "graft" against you. The 1% figure is the total fee government negotiated with SystemSpecs (0.5%) , the banks (0.4%) and the CNB (0.1%). This is why Nigerian politicians make wild claim all the time. They know many will not inspect their utterances before working themselves into a frenzy.

Indeed. I personally think Buhari will have problems with this Senate because it is full of pro-corruption scoundrels led by Saraki. Why should Melaye rush to publicly declare that one single company is made N25 billion from TSA remittance when the total amount that has gone into the TSA is not enough to yeild a 1% fee of N25 billion? What is behind this sort of mischief when the Senate, even agreeing it has oversight function, should be a partner to the executive arm instead of the peddler of erroneous and false information?

And what is Adams Oshiomole doing with all the figures he keeps saying were stolen by the past administration?

Good question one would have to put to the GEJ government that signed the original deal with SystemSpecs. The TSA itself is a good idea and this is why the Buhari government decided to resurrect and use it.

Now it is clear, according to official statement of the FG through its minister of information, it is members of the GEJ government that negotiated the 1% fee. This clears up the controversy because it shows there is no wrongdoing on the path of the Buhari government who can only continue with the scheme, if it wants to derive the obvious benefit Remita provides, until it can review the terms of the contract or possibly cancel without heavy financial penalty.

It is important to note that Remita is a collection system and those usually attract a transaction fee based on the amount involved. The idea of royalty or maintenance fee would therefore not appeal to SystemSpecs (the owner of Remita) since the amount collected on behalf of clients may vary considerably.
i have problem with the logic of the bold part. The money being transfer is electronic and therefore shouldn't attract any special cost based on the amount being transferred. It is suppose to be a fee and not a commission-styled reward. If it was physical money then it can, attract a commission because of extra cost involve in moving more money accross.

Going forward I think that is the next step to be taken by this govt. A small company can't take 1% while the rest 170 million shares 99%. They also benefit from even the remaining 99%.
Hope Fayose and loud mouth Melaye will learn how to look before they leap from now.
Bunch of spoilers who are not pleased with the way things are done because they can't have easy access to govt funds any more.

I was about to ask same question. Interesting enough, this administration has not done any thing new for the past 6months apart from penalising MTN. From fight against Book Haram, to refineries, power, economy, sports, auto mobile policy, agriculture even fight against corruptoon. They only take credit whenever the result is positive but push blame to former administration if a negative news comes up. We all know how they celebrated TSA as the best thing to ever happen to Nigeria, they never reverenced GEJ when the ovation was so loud.

What a change!

But for the whistle blowing, no one would have known that TSA was GEJ's initiative. APC-led FG made us believe all this while it was their own idea. Now, that questions arise on TSA-related corrupt practices, they are quick to tell us that na GEJ conceive the idea. Who does that?, only immatured and kids do that.

From the beginning it was public knowledge that GEJ conceived the TSA through Okonjo Iweala, however the angst was that Jonathan didn't ensure that there was a compliance with the policy directive.

The accolade that PMB enjoyed was as a result of enforcing compliance. At least this issue was roundly debated on this forum and other places.

Yes, the previous administration signed the agreement and that administration is implicated in this case but this present government that implemented the TSA without review equally has questions to answer.

GEJ tenure employed some people in DSS which was later disregarded by this same administration. There have been probes upon probes , reviews upon reviews on some actions and inactions of past administration including the current Col Dasuki arm purchase; so the question is: What stopped PMB to review this TSA as he has been probing and reviewing others before going ahead to implement. PMB administration is implicated too.
The answer to your question is that buhari needs to pay for the jet he flew for his campaign

Govt of propaganda, everything bad is good luck and everything good is Buhari, why didn't the president review the policy before implementation like he as always reviewed every thing the last govt did.

The TSA is a noble idea that was placed on the back burner until quite recently.

It cannot be said to be dubious except where one chooses to be mischievous.

In the past bank charges for collection and remittance of government funds was usually around 5% and sometimes more.

Presently, the Remita software makes such transactions much cheaper and by far more efficient.

When you compare such charges with how much Visa or any of the other platforms charge us for card usage you realise that the Remita deal isn't a deviation from the norm, perhaps better.

Should the government renegotiate terms?

Anything that makes even more savings for the government should be encouraged as long as it is legal and it doesn't compromise the wellbeing of majority of the citizens.

Be careful who brings the news of the King's death.

APC as a party should learn to take the blame when thing go wrong rather than blaming everything that went wrong on the previous govt.
