Rapmoney:I must say your assertion above is born out of hate and bad belleism. What is your own? Who knows u in Nigeria? Who told you Terry G is down and out? Just because he has not released a new album? Is that it? What will you say if he releases one tomorrow and ut us a hit as usual? Guy! Go get yourself a Job and stop this slanderous life style. |

Rapmoney:Virtually all the Nigerian musicians that claim to play hip-hop, Afro pop etc would have gone under if not for the rejuvenation of the Nigerian music scene as a result of the impact of Ghanaian-style Azonto and hiplife (fusion of fast tempo highlife and hip-hop)beats that are trending and dominating airwaves across Africa and adopted by Nigerian musicians in the last 3-4years. All what you need to do is to do a fine Azonto-inspired beat....that is what people like Wizkid, Davido, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, etc are all benefiting from in the last 3 years |

Rapmoney:Your point is not entirely true. Why pick on Terry? It's simply what the market wants. Even with talent you can still sink. Whether Terry comes back or not, he has made his name & money. |

vascey:Vascey, well said. I am a lover and follwer of music and I listen to every type of music and musician from 1000 degrees, Nas, KRS1 to Lil Wayne, From Etta James to Adele, from Cher, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion to Queen B, Lady Gaga and co, from Chaka Chaka, Brenda to Mafikizolo, Plantashun Boyz, Remedies to YBNL, PSquare and co. From DJ Tiesto to DJ Jimmy. Reading this one sided, hateful and spiteful piece from the OP was sad and horrific. Terry G brought a new taste & flavour to the Nigerian music scene and his songs came with some of the best beats ever heard in the Nigerian industry. Terry G is brave, vibrant, unafraid of critics, watchful of his fans, clever, very creative. Yes I love 2face and even have all his works bought from iTunes but we will never complete the list of meaningful and powerful contributors to the evolution and growth of the Nigerian music industry without mentioning Terry G with respect. Terry G might not be everyone's favorite artiste but we can also say the same for Bach and Mozart and King Sunny Ade. Jimmy Hendrix was considered as trash and dirty even in his days but now u know who u r talking about when you mention that name because of his contributions and how many other artistes built their carrier by borrowing one or more ideas from him and the same can be said for Terry G. I like him for his resilience and tenacity. He is always capable of bringing out something to rock the airwaves whether it is considered trashy or not. Do you think Eminem or Jay Z or Tupac with all their talent is acceptable to everyone ? NO. Not even Enya or Bob Marley could achieve such a feat. I love HipHop but there are other music genres so it doesn't make sense slandering an artiste from a Hip Hop point of view. So Terry G sings trash? Barbara Streisand is a music icon and her song (duck sauce) went global and please what was she saying in the song? Not everyone must appeal to you especially if u listen to music and musicians with a biased mind and limited music genre acceptance. Even Alicia in * When You Really Love Someone * said IT DON'T MAKE SENSE BUT IT MAKES A GOOD SONG. Now OP.. tell me your favourite artiste and I will show u a stupid song or lyric from him/her. |

It's obvious the OP wrote subjectively nay objectively. A write up such as this, ought to be constructive, objective and balanced. Aside singing 'tasteless' music(according to you),Terry G is an astute business man cum producer. Dude has a good ear for beats which no one can deny. His uncanny ability to carve a niche for his genre of music in the dense Nigerian music space shows his ingenuity as a musician and prowess as a producer. In music, the market mood is a determinant factor as it either keeps you afloat relevance wise or bury u dispassionately. An attestation to his staying power vocally was when he exhibited a high sense of coming of age by churning out the hit song 'sexy lady' which I never get tired of u. Never in your life ascribe potential downturn musically to the likes of Harrysong whose musical writing skill and vocal dexterity is widely acknowledged and obviously precedes him. You are neither a known music critic or aficionado. Thanks for the bore. |

bomasek:the guy said he has been listening to Lil Wayne as FAR BACK AS 2000. so year 2000 is now FAR BACK? I wonder why we should even comment on a post from someone who thinks year 2000 is far back when I have all 10 Don Williams album on Turn table disc. all his references were hiphop based. i guess he just wanted to bash Terry G & did it in so much of a hurry. |

Rapmoney:i am not a fan of TERRY G, but its lugubrious how some peeps will just sit down and be damaging other people's hardwork. Your own is to login to nairaland dey find who to criticise. Atleast he made an effort and released musics. You wey dey talk, did you release any music? answer is NO. Atleast Nigeria know Terry G today, who knows you? Abeg make we stop this bad belle nonsense. He has made name for himself. Make ur own name and stop making noise....SIMPLE |

Dis shld serve as warning 2 most of D so called commercial artistes who churn out acoustic garbage dey call music. Nowadays I have started 2 wonder if dey think b4 writing lyrics... In fact do dey write lyrics at all? All dey seem 2 do is just get a good producer & mixer then spit rubbish on d beat. In fact a lot of d "A-list" artistes in Nigeria r lyrically retarded. Let dem continue but when Nigerian musical industry bcoms lyk nollywood, dnt complain. And we d listeners/fans r no beta. Instead of us 2 support & listen 2 song with sound lyrical content, we prefer 2 listen 2 songs because of d gbim gbim & gba gba. As mi says in his song "talk about it", we listen 2 D beat of D song instead of d lyrics of D song. Dis has caused artistes such as iyanya, mi 2 intentionally water down d quality of their songs so as 2 gain more material success & those like darey, bez, mode9,who decide 2 maintain their style & quality remain on d fringe of showered attention & patronage. |

. It became so annoying when people who know nothing about good music and the generes of music in general started referring to TerryG as a hip-hop artiste!!! What an insult to hip-hop!!! Though, that didn't disturb me much because I know a lot of Nigerians don't even know how to classify music/songs.
