Buhari and his 1985 mentality. 2016 will be a horrible year for business, coupled with the high rate of unemployment and all the recent sackings; I just hope this country wont pack up by then.

You lots are pathetic. Do you know that bubu has lifted ban on foreign textile? Do you know that bubu has lifted ban on imported rice? Where is he supposed to start his rubbish industrialization from...I.DIOTS
Of course, he cannot ban imports...thanks to the new global paradigm of open markets that has been around since the nineties.

It is up to Nigerian companies to up their game, as well as the education sector too. And we have to raise the power sector up.....which the govt plans to do in part via a 2400MW nuclear power station.

The fact is, we must industrialise. Relying on revenues from oil don't work no more. Everyone now is producing oil...especially the US...once our biggest ''customer'' (From 50% of our oil in 1996 to 3% now). The sooner the government gets that the better....and at least they are chatteirng about diversification.

“The smaller generators have been banned by the Federal Government because it is causing air pollution and destruction of our lungs and breathing system. That is why they have banned it but people are still interested in smuggling them in, that is why we intercepted them. “If you go to the market, you still see them because people have imported them before the ban. So it is the leftover they had before the ban that they are selling because the law did not backdate the ban and it is not an absolute prohibition. “It is prohibition by trade which means you cannot bring it in large quantity and sell to the public. That is the type of prohibition we have on this but if you buy one piece, Customs will not seize it. “We will not relent in our efforts.

Yes sir
They are about 400 Watts for good ones
Led and energy bulb of 8 to 12 watts in my flats
10 bulbs still less than 100watts.
My 32 watts LG TV about 80 watts (some new 50 inch TV less than 120 watts)
Ceiling fan about 40 to 60 watts each
No way all ten bulbs all be on same time
Don't know the exact charging power of the 1 kva inverter I use but it charges it with 2 Nos. 200Ah batteries

To press my cloth I bypass all other load and use directly

The Gen shld rightly be banned!!!

The emission from that Gen is far hazardous those from the bigger ones.

Light has generally been improved in my area b than ut then we need to have control and standards if we are to get to where we wanna be
Abugab:
He is not killing small scale business.
I better pass my neighbour is an air pollutant looking at the fact the world is seeking a cleaner environment.
It is injurious to health and that is one of the main reason for the restriction as it is not a total ban. So many Nigerians have actually died from fumes from the small gen.
There are a million and one other opportunities for small businesses that can be explored.
The advent of small generators have also been the bane of our power sector along with the bigger ones.
ideyhere:
All I know is that "o teh ife dibalu njo, o diba mma." For any leader to make a meaningful change, he has to take decisions that majority are going to criticize in the beginning. At this point it looks like we can't succeed without those noisy pollutants called generators...but I'm sure we will...and we'll emerge better off. So my people calm down...baba is working...sai baba grin

They should confiscate the ones in use in Nigeria.

They are all pose major health risk - emitting poisonous substance into the air, inturn, causing all sort of health issues.

Whatever happened to just fixing the problem. If there is constant power supply, why would anyone buy a grnerator. Why punish the masses for your inefficiencies. If a generator cabal exists, its the governments responsibility to tackle them without inflicting pain on citizens. 99% of small businesses use these grnerators to survive.
