Everyday this administration gives reasons to those calling for self-determination. Pro self-determination are people who see tomorrow. However, other divide are calling them Miscreants, jobless youths etc etc. All will vindicate them one day.

^^^Hehehehehehehe grin grin grin

If my memory serves me right, the last one done when GEJ was still President had more Yoruba than Igbo! Did Igbo yell marginalisation?.......No! They simply said 'good going', and went back to the drawing-board to get ready for next years edition (which now from the looks of things wouldn't be happening any time soon)! They didn't throw their toys out of the pram in a tantrum or throw the baby out with the bath water just because Igbos came up short! This is what healthy competition should be and what can spur the country to greatness!

You know most of the technology we're enjoying today are as a consequence of the cold war and space race between the US and USSR of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.....both competitive situations! Even prior to the cold war, the world benefited from the new technologies, inventions and discoveries of the 1st and 2nd world wars (necessity they say is the mother of invention)! We can see parallel situations to both these scenarios back in Nigeria with the healthy competition that held sway between the regions in the 60s, and the technological feats made by Biafra during the war! Now ask yourself how Nigeria of today is benefiting from these as the world benefited from the aforementioned cold war, space race and technological advances of the two world wars! You can now see how tribalism, nepotism, quota-system and federal character is holding us all to ransom!

If you read beyond the headline, a place reads:

The uncertainty over the presidential scholarship comes on the heels of the recent review of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) overseas scholarship scheme, due to a change in the policy direction, that include a partial or outright domestication of the scheme in Nigeria in line with the Local Content Policy of the Nigerian government.

Pay attention to the highlighted, does it mean cancellation or investing in our education system?

Investing in our education system? Well, PTDF still brought out advert for foreign scholarship this year same with NITDA. They would have as well cancelled both scholarship.
China with her top rank schools( about four chinese universities are in the top 100 universities) still sends her citizens to the Usa and Canada. Infact if not for geographical spread which foreign universities adheres to, Chinese students would dominate all the universities in the USA and Canada. Even with the excellent medical program in India, the indians still sponsor her students to the Uk for medical programs.

To be honest, I'm beginning to see reasons with those clamouring for secession. What kind of evil mindset is this? It is a matter of wickedness for a section of this country to not just refuse to progress, but also doing everything to keep others down. I'm so sad right now. Finally I think we in the South shot ourselves in the foot by voting PMB.
What kind of rubbish is this?
Thank you bro...I tell you, the southeast may be landlocked but if they had existed alone since 1960 they won't be at par with the present Nigeria. Same with the southwest. I studied in the southwest and met a lot of gurus. High calibre professors are you saying such intelligence will not be put into use if the southwest stand alone? The truth is I do not support the present protest and clamour for Biafra but when we are ready to move forward we need to separate from the north...

The day I watched a clip of Imperial College's convocation, I was so shocked at the number of Chinese students. They were almost 40% of the graduating students

This news saddens me. The information is not concrete yet, so one can still hope the scheme remains funded.

Your claims hardly reflect reality. As a beneficiary of the maiden PRESSID edition, I remember that during the award ceremony in October 2012, the executive secretary of the NUC called graduates from different schools to identify themselves. Those from Covenant and other private Universities were not up to 20. I vividly remember that UNILAG had the highest number of awardees. Even I and at least 8 awardees I know personally finished from Federal Universities.

For all of you blaming the north for this rumored news here is a little clarification.
The first two years the programme was launched in 2012 no single northerner was considered eligible for the scholarship this was the time Wike held sway at the ministry of education. some law makers complained on the floor of the house and demanded that the criteria for eligibility been used made public instead of shrouding it in mystery like NNPC accounts. No any clarification was given concerning the eligibility except that it's for first class graduate. Lo and behold the same thing was repeated in 2013 when Wike was made the substantive education minister, with the list 50% Igbos, 10% Yoruba and the rest SS. That's when the concerned law makers called for the scrap of this outrageous and Insulting jamboree aimed to favor just one part of the country.
Let's be sincere to ourselves even if the south are more active in the pursuit of western education it's impossible to say for three years not a single applicant was qualified.
I support the exercise so long there is going to be some sense of fairness. BTW there are other government sponsored scholarships to apply for.

Ruqayyah Ahmed Rufa'i was the substantive minister of education for the first two editions of the pressid scholarship. Nyesom wike only supervised the third edition. For your information, the yoruba's dominated the first two editions , the Igbos only dominated in this last edition. I have the list of the three editions I can furnish you the details if you want it. Maybe you should do well to acquaint yourself well about the scheme. whipping up sentiments would do you no good. gracias.

I really do thank God this is happening. I knew from onset that once Pres. Buhari comes to the stage the scheme would automatically stop. I knew of several poor people that benefited from PRESSID. A scheme that was truly free and fair. The majority of the north cherish their Islamic school to education. Anyway I think now the eye of several blind folded ones would be open because to me any government that doesn't gives quality education is no government.

I never said Wike was the minister during the first batch, I said "held sway" we all know he was more powerful than the Hajiya, no thanks to his rapport with Madam Patience.
I also never mentioned the stats for the first two batches, I only mentioned the last which the Igbos dominated, and which you yourself confirm. Point is no justification could be given why for three consecutive batches not 1% northerners are deemed fit to qualify by using a shoddy process of selection.
