iluvnaija:shut up if you don't know what you are talking about. Asaba is our Anioma city and not Edo, go to ur benin city and leave Asaba alone. You can call it Ahaba or Asaba which is gotten from Ahabagom which mean "I have chosen" in Igbo language and The Edo DID NOT found Asaba, have you heard about Nnebisi before? If not, go and read history. 2 Likes |

Ugomba: Asaba and all other anioma people are from Benin. Yes it is true other people also settled in those areas. But d primary settlers were bini. http://www.ibusa.net/asaba-delta%20state.htm The oral history of the people regards the Ikelike people who migrated from Benin as the first settlers on the land which is today called Asaba. There was Ugboma often regarded as the second settler migrant from Achata in Awka District he settled in Obodo Achala still in existence today but due to ceaseless wars which took place many of these settlers resettled in Achala-Igbuzo, Okpanam and Kwala where they can still be found today. The fairy tale of these origin of a thing is ridiculous!! here are my own postulation, , if you look at the map of africa in early century, you will see that Benin was the name given to all the bight of benin and biafra, and just like lagos, benin was like a melting pot for all the tribes across the coast and river, so everyone came to benin, like everyone is in lagos today, because benin was a strong force so every tribe around respected them! so when the war started the likes of ezechima, nnewi progenitor, ukwuani etc all went back to their place like what happened during oso abiola! so these confusion should not be allowed to continue, what happened was what I just described! enough of these trash!! note that igbos from the day one migrate alot! but they still remember their ancestral home! Eze chima was an igbo man before he went to benin, just like for example ebuka from Obosi would go to lagos for greener pastures, he is likely born children in lagos, learn some of their culture, but if anything happens in lagos that would threatened his existence, he will relocate to obosi his home, that doesn't mean he is a yoruba, because he has learnt most of their culture and lifestyle!! ok ask yourself, why didn't you have a place called "Eze chima " same with Eze chima, he went to benin from his home town anioma, he went for greener pastures because benin was like lagos, so he had children, but when the war agha idu noba started he left with his children down to his ancestral home, I just asked my father he said he heard of the story too from village in those days, it affected all parts of igboland today , it doesn't mean that he migrated from benin! afteral he met people when he returned! his children started expanding what we have today!! so I hope you understand the simple logic here Enough of miscarriage historical misinformation!!! 3 Likes |

patrick89: Dis ur history is d recent editing of d original history. This ur version is propagated by some UNN professors in history. because they could not deny d benin root, they had to repackage it dis way. All early writtings before 1950 does not angry with ur version. This ur version was created purely on logic out of pride. This is not history. |

Rose2014: Unrosy Rosy, argue with Nnamdi Azikwe and leave us out of your madness. This underscores what we have always known, that igbos lack history. This explains why you always find yourselves arguing against facts and history , dragging who is igbo or now with different people that have persistently and consistently denied you. It is obvious you guys are confused set of people. Zik said he can trace his line and birth of onitsha to Benin, you are blaming yorubas for your lack of knowledge of the truth, without any verifiable truth to counter Zik's claim. Asaba wa founded by the descendants of Igala. #Fact. Now Zik has told all of you that Onitsha was founded by migrants from Benin kingdom. #anotherfact Who exactly are Igbos and where are they from? They are Bantus from Congo, as we all know. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Why cant you just accept a simple history and rest. How does it change who you are and who you will be? Please face reality and stop being too sentimental about it. History is History. It is not about how u feel or how u want it to be. Some part of America were French territory in d past. Today it is all America. It does not stop America from being the most powerful country in d world today. America wont go extral mile to change history because they feel they are more powerful than france today. 2 Likes |

This is why you people don't have any form of credible or verifiable history. You argue a lot to distort existing historical facts. Ugomba: Your question does not make a single sense. Asaba is from d word Asabo (Meaning you cannot) in Benin. This was named by Ohime (Eze chima) on his way to Onitsha because he could not cross river Niger. That was before Igala people came and help him cross. Secondly ur question make no sense. Urhobo people dont argue that they are not from Bini. Yet the word Effurun an Urhobo town has no meaning in Benin. Does that mean Urhobo people are no longer from Bini? 4 Likes |

Their ancestors had been there for thousands of years. During the period from 1519 to 1848, all or parts of Texas were claimed by five countries: France, Spain, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the United States of America—as well as the Confederate States of America in 1861–65. The first European base was established in 1680 in El Paso, Texas with the exiled Spaniards and Native Americans from the Isleta Pueblo during the Pueblo Revolt, also known as Popé's Rebellion, from northern New Mexico. In 1682, René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle established a French colony, Fort Saint Louis, near Matagorda Bay. The colony was killed off by Native Americans after three years, but Spanish authorities felt pressed to establish settlements to keep their claim to the land. Several missions were established in East Texas; they were abandoned in 1691. Twenty years later, concerned with the French presence in neighboring Louisiana, Spanish authorities again tried to colonize Texas. Over the next 110 years, Spain established numerous villages, presidios, and missions in the province. A small number of Spanish settlers arrived, in addition to missionaries and soldiers. Spain signed agreements with colonizers from the United States. When Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821, Mexican Texas was part of the new nation. To encourage settlement, Mexican authorities allowed organized immigration from the United States, and by 1834, over 30,000 Anglos lived in Texas,[1] compared to 7,800 Mexicans.[2] After Santa Anna's dissolution of the Constitution of 1824, issues such as lack of access to courts, the militarization of the region's government (e.g., response to Saltillo-Monclova problem), and self-defense issues resulting in the confrontation in Gonzales, public sentiment in Mexican Texas turned towards revolution. Santa Anna's invasion of the territory after putting down the rebellion in Zacatecas provoked the conflict of 1836. The Texian forces fought and won the Texas Revolution in 1835–36. Texas became an independent nation, the Republic of Texas. Attracted by the rich lands for cotton plantations and ranching, tens of thousands of immigrants arrived from the U.S. and from Germany as well. In 1845, Texas joined the United States, becoming the 28th state. Texas declared its secession from the United States in 1861 to join the Confederate States of America. Only a few battles of the American Civil War were fought in Texas; most Texas regiments served in the east. When the war ended, the enslaved African Americans were freed. Texas was subject to Reconstruction, a process that left a residue of bitterness among whites. They regained political dominance and passed laws in the late 19th century creating second-class status for blacks in a Jim Crow system of segregation and disenfranchising them in 1901 through passage of a poll tax. Blacks were excluded from the formal political system until after passage of federal civil rights legislation in the mid-1960s. Cotton, ranching, and farming dominated the economy, with railroad construction after 1870 a major factor in the development of new cities away from rivers and waterways. Toward the end of the 19th century, timber became an important industry in Texas as well. In 1901 a petroleum discovery at Spindletop Hill, near Beaumont, was developed as the most productive oil well the world had ever seen. The wave of oil speculation and discovery that followed came to be known as the "Oil Boom", permanently transforming and enriching the economy of Texas. Agriculture and ranching gave way to a service-oriented society after the boom years of World War II. Segregation ended in the 1960s due to federal legislation. Politically, Texas changed from the virtually one-party Democratic state achieved following disenfranchisement, to a highly contested political scene, until 2000 when it was solidly Republican. The economy of Texas has continued to grow rapidly, becoming the second-largest state in population in 1994, and became economically highly diversified, with a growing base in high technology. |
