Your question does not make a single sense.
Asaba is from d word Asabo (Meaning you cannot) in Benin. This was named by Ohime (Eze chima) on his way to Onitsha because he could not cross river Niger. That was before Igala people came and help him cross.

Secondly ur question make no sense. Urhobo people dont argue that they are not from Bini. Yet the word Effurun an Urhobo town has no meaning in Benin. Does that mean Urhobo people are no longer from Bini?

So you have baptised Eze chima ohime ....nawa ugomba I told you that they will rewrite history

OK tell us the meaning of onicha in Benin ..and maybe Benin established the onicha in IMO, anambra , Enugu and ebonyi with abia

Do you know we have onicha in those states

You are going as far as insulting or reducing Nnamdi Azikiwe just to drive home ur emotional point.

If according to u Ojukwu and Nnamdi Kanu are d greatest Igbo men, that put Nnamdi Azikiwe as third greatest right?

But Ojukwu and Nnamdi Kanu are not from Onitsha.

Nnamdi Azikiwe is from Onitsha. That makes him the greatest Onitsha man in History.

So when it comes to Onitsha ,Nnamdi Azikiwe opinion of his history is d Authority.

So zik was obi of Onitsha the custodian of culture

Do u reason with your blokos?

Asaba and all other anioma people are from Benin. Yes it is true other people also settled in those areas. But d primary settlers were bini.

http://www.ibusa.net/asaba-delta%20state.htm

The oral history of the people regards the Ikelike people who migrated from Benin as the first settlers on the land which is today called Asaba. There was Ugboma often regarded as the second settler migrant from Achata in Awka District he settled in Obodo Achala still in existence today but due to ceaseless wars which took place many of these settlers resettled in Achala-Igbuzo, Okpanam and Kwala where they can still be found today. Ugboma was the second settler.

http://www.ibusa.net/asaba-delta%20state.htm

OK let's assume they are Benin ...how come they speak Igbo with Igbo culture?

Did Igbo colonise them or brainwash them

I think you are insulting anioma people indirectly by saying they are daft for forgetting their languages and culture

Bros! can. you also say that igbos in general migrated from benin? if no then you are just making up stories based on folklore! my town has a story that shows the eri only gave. birth to our town and their two other neighbour, infact if you read our own story, you would believe that Eri comes from our town, but the agulu eri is miles away from my town. The story of the idu noba is also very popular in my town, and it didn't erase the fact that we are igbos and not benin..

Besides why has the benin not recognise any prince with a name ezechima? This is the common sense you have to apply here! if you listen to every town's folklore! they are all originated from Adam, all of them claim to come directly from Adam! hence African history can not be taken seriously! if you read what oludah equano account, he identified himself as igbo man, from somewhere in delta state, but also acknowledged the oba of benin! read his account, he never claimed to be from edo or benin! he pointed out that he is an igbo man!!!

Igbo in general are not from Benin.
It is Onitsha that is from Benin. this is obvious because even before colonisation only Onitsha had well establish monarchy when other Igbo community didn't have monarchy. This is because of the history of Onitsha being a product of Benin.

Today, Onitsha is not part of benin. Onitsha is igboland today. Nobody is dragging that. History and present is not always the same.

History of Onitsha According to - Nnamdi Azikiwe-
"One day I asked her (grandmother) the meaning of the word 'Onitsha'....I continued to belabor my grandmother to tell me more of the history and origins of the Onitsha people...."

Alright, we have heard the story Azikiwe got from his grandmother. What about the story he got from his grandfather? As you know, mothers usually add their own emotions and fantasies into oral history, and therefore their stories are not always true. On the other hand, fathers usually narrate oral history in a more direct and truthful way without letting their emotions get in the way. That is the reason why historians who want to piece together the oral history of a community usually interview the men and not the women. Alright, why would Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe believe the story he got from his grandmother, and not the story he got from his grandfather? Though Azikiwe did not tell us his grandfather's view on the history of Onitsha, we can still answer that question in a fundamental way. Onicha-Ugbo is the head of the entire Umuezechime clan (of which Azikiwe's village Onitsha [Onicha-Mmiri] is a part). The elders of Onicha-Ugbo, who are the bonafide descendants of the first son of Ezechime, said that their patriarch Ezechime came from Nri, one of the oldest Igbo communities. Historians have done a lot of research on this issue, and their findings showed that Chime (Ezechime) was an Igbo man. His name, the names of his followers, the names of his wife and children, the language and culture of his descendants, all evidence points to one direction: Igbo.

From all our research, Ezechime was a wealthy man who moved from Arochukwu to Nri-Awka area during the slave trade. Some of the Umuezechime clan, especially Onicha-Ugbo, said that Ezechime came from Nri-Awka axis, while the people of Nri-Awka axis said that Ezechime originally came from Arochukwu, settled in Nri-Akwa area (Northern Igbo), and founded many communties in both the Northern and Western areas of Igboland. (Note: "Ezechime" is sometimes spelled "Ezechima" in some Igbo dialects).

"Orofia is the second largest village in Abagana today in terms of population and land mass after Umudunu. As is the case with Umudunu, its founder was an immigrant called "Chime" ("Chima" in some dialects).

"According to further account of our sources, this Chime was a great warrior, adventurer, and statesman who came from "Ohafia" near Arochukwu in Abia State in search of slaves and merchandise. Some elders say that Chime rather came from Arochukwu but many of his followers were from Ohafia and environs. Our source had it that this man founded "Orofia" settlement in other towns like Nimo, Enugu-Ukwu, Eziowelle, Alor, Umudioka, Ogbunike, Ogidi, Ukpo, Oraukwu, and others in the course of his numerous adventures and expeditions, but finally settled in Abagana with his soldiers of fortune and founded "Orofia village Abagana". Chime later married from Akpu Abagana and eventually crossed the River Niger with his family and followers, and in the course of the adventure, he founded Onicha Ugbo, Onicha Olona, Issele Ukwu, Issele Azagba, Issele Mkpitime, Obior, Onicha Mmiri, which are all part of the Ezechima clan in Igboland."

if us within the south, deliberately refuse the connection among us, where some people in the south feel they have monopoly of what is true history and what is false, then we in the south are not ready yet for self determination. There are many other Onichas in the Igbo hinterlands while there is none in Benin. Eze and chime are popular names in the igbo hinterlands but does not exist in Benin. Conclusiion: The founders of Onitsha are Igbos who lived in Benin but returned wen the thriving empire started falling. Same as Nsukka ppl who went to the thriving Igala empire at Idah but left when it collpsed and migrated eastwards until they re established contact with their fellow igbos.

It is always best we allow people from specific area and knowledgeable about their history to tell their stories. All the Igbo speaking people that have Benin styled Kingship including my own town of Oguta in Imo State have the same history of migration from Ado n'Idu which I know was a bordering area with Igbo people ruled by Benin King in olden days. That area is between today's Igbanke and Agbor. The evidence of ancient form of Igbo spoken is clearly there as the older original Ika words lean obviously towards Igbo as well as lexis and structure of Ika language. The Benin words fill in sentences like borrowed words.

If you write the phrase

"I like eba with egusi and pomo" it shows clearly that its English with Eba, Egusi and pomo as borrowed Yoruba words.

So Azikiwe is right that we came from ancient Benin empire but we have always been Igbos even while at Ado n'Idu and that was the reason we fell out with the Oba. If you read history of Ijaw you will discover that they equally lived at another edge of Bini and migrated out just like Igbos.

Nigerians are merely onlookers when compared to historic operators. Any groups of people who do not have sense of industrial productivity can never be good tellers of historical fact. Most Nigerians are dumb and have steam dishonesty towards history thereby failing woefully in organized endeavors.

Yes, you may be right on the fact that the people may not be bini. But the first Obi of Onitsha is more likely to be a bini prince. the story is the same with that of lagos. The first Oba of Lagos was a bini prince according to lagos state government website. But the original people of lagos are not bini.

The different between an average Yoruba and an average Ibo on this issues is that an average Yoruba will not see any reason to start questioning what is true just because of pride.

History of Lagos State

Prior to the Portuguese name of Lagos being adopted, Lagos was originally called Eko, which stems from either Oko (Yoruba: "cassava farm"wink or Eko ("war camp"wink, by its Bini conquerors. History has it that the Oba of Bini sent various trade expeditions to Ghana where spices were traded and one of his traders complained about the way she was being treated by the Awori's. The Oba of Bini then sent a trade expedition by sea. Ironically, the leader of the expedition arrived in the evening at a time when the people who were predominantly fishermen were either wading into the water or getting into their boats to gather their catch. He declined to engage them further and returned to what is now called Benin City where he reported to the Oba of Bini that they were attacked. This prompted the Oba of Bini to constitute a war expedition led by Ado, a Bini Prince to go to Lagos and demand an explanation. This was over 650 years ago. However, on getting there, they were well received. The people were so enamored with Ado they asked him to stay and lead them. He agreed on the condition that they surrendered their sovereignty to the Oba of Bini to which they agreed. The Oba of Bini was told this and he gave his permission for the expedition to remain. The Oba of Bini later sent some of his chiefs including the Eletu Odibo, Obanikoro and others to assist Ado in the running of Eko. Till today, the Oba of Lagos is the head of all the Kings in Lagos State and his status is different from other Oba's most of whom were later given back their crowns and staff of office only within the last 40 years and have various classifications. Suffice it to state that those who got their crowns back were the original land owners. These were Olofin's children. Moreover, modern day Lagosians have so intermingled that no single tribe or people can claim it even though the predominant language is Yoruba. The present day Lagos state has a higher percent of this sub-group who allegedly migrated to the area from Isheri along the Ogun river.

The present day Lagos state has a higher percent of this sub-group who allegedly migrated to the area from Isheri along the Ogun river

Taking on Dr Azikiwe on Onitsha origin

Most notable Igbo historians disprove Onitsha’s Edo genealogy, but not their Edo prolonged residency and domiciliary. The fact that culture contact of Ezechime and Bini Kingdom resulted resulted in pseudo-monarchy of Onitsha people do not translate to blood genealogy with the Edo people. Professors Afigbo, Onwuejeogwu, Nzimiro, Onwumechili, Alaezi, Echeruo, among others, who were the giants in the research into Igbo history uniformly posted a caveat that although:

"The names of the founding fathers, the basic customs, and the language (were) Igbo.....It is not unlikely that some kingship emblems may have been borrowed from Benin....... A distinction must be made between the origin of the people and the origin of some political institutions. "

I concur with these giants, in toto.

We also know from all accounts of the migration of Ezechime that he left with his nine frown sons and large descendants; and even if Ezechime recklessly omitted to record with specificity of his travails and genealogy, his grown adult sons like, Onicha Ugbo, would have at least done the needful as an traditionally tutored “Bini prince” versed in the culture of written history; that is, if he were truly a Bini prince as claimed by the Onitsha stock of Umu-Ezechime. However, Onicha Ugbo, who was the disputed first son of Ezechime passed on to his descendant that his ancestors (including Ezechime) came from Nri in old Awka district of Eastern Region. The purported Nri genealogy explains the central distinguishing feature of all Umu-Ezechime, which apart from their pseudo-monarchical government, was their celebration of “ozo title traditional rites”, which is 100 % core Igbo culture. In fact, this has a fundamental factual implication to the extent that even Umu-Ezechime who never had “direct” contact with hinterland or mainland Igbo where this “Ozo title rites” are religiously practiced, also celebrate this ozo rite. The universality of this ozo culture amongst the Umu-Ezechime means that Onitsha people could not have copied their “Ozo title rites” by their direct culture contact with mainland Igbos, as their brothers west of the Niger river and as far off as Agbor celebrate r “ozo rites”. Hence, Ozo traditional rite which has nothing to do whatsoever with Bini culture was not a product of “ culture contact” with mainland Igbo, but a product of Ezechime’s “Igbo heritage’ , which is principally justified by his Igbo patrilineal genealogy.

Balkan:
Sometimes, I wonder why all these people that said they migrated from Bini don't have their own language. Why do all of them speak Igbo dialect. They forget their language as they travel.
Because what we NOW known as Igbo Language is actually a fusion of the Migrants' Languages,Igala and MANY aboriginal peoples inhabiting what now constitute the South-east of Nigeria.
NO LANGUAGE develop from only ONE source
