What we can say with certainty though, is that those Turkmen rebels are about to experience a world of hurt.

This!

So much this!

The biggest "Fvck you" action Putin can take without exposing himself to any real risk it to assblast ethnic turks inside of syria while remaining well clear of the border

Russians did 141 sorties in Syria in the last 48 hours with 472 terrorist targets hit.

Something tells me the next 141 sorties and 472 targets over the next 48 hours are going to be in Aleppo

"World war 3 over Syria?"........ Nobody would start WW3 over Syria, besides Europe support Russia in it's fight against ISIS terrorists in Syria, European parliaments would be reluctant to approve a military engagement against Russia. Germany and France simply would not engage Russia over Syria or Turkey or the Islamist Edrogan.

It won't happen.
Well firstly i was the one that said that nothing really would happen, i was speaking hypothetically with regards to your comment if Putin decides to retaliate.

Putin's Speech:

This event is beyond the normal framework of fighting against terrorism. Of course our military is doing heroic work against terrorism... But the loss today is a stab in the back, carried out by the accomplices of terrorists. I can’t describe it in any other way. Our aircraft was downed over the territory of Syria, using air-to-air missile from a Turkish F-16. It fell on the Syrian territory 4km from Turkey.

Neither our pilots nor our jet threatened the territory of Turkey. This is obvious. They are fighting terrorists in the northern areas around Latakia, where militants are located, mainly people who originated in Russia, and they were pursuing their direct duty, to make sure these people do not return to Russia. These are people who are clearly international terrorists.

Taking into account that we signed an agreement on deconflicting with the US, and as we know Turkey was among the ones that has joined the US coalition. Since Isis has such huge resources of hundreds of millions and billions of dollars coming from illicit oil sales, and they are protected by the armed forces of other states, then it’s clear why they are so brazen, why they are killing people, why they are carrying out terrorist attacks throughout the world including in the heart of Europe.

We will analyse everything, and today’s tragic event will have significant consequences, including for Russia-Turkish relations. We have always treated Turkey as a friendly state. I don’t know who was interested in what happened today, certainly not us. And instead of immediately getting in contact with us, as far as we know, the Turkish side immediately turned to their partners from Nato to discuss this incident, as if we shot down their plane and not they ours.

It goes without saying that Russia and Putin will retaliate. The great unknown is the nature of such. Amongst the tools available to the Kremlin:
1) The PKK might suddenly start fielding more potent weaponry;
2) Turkish options to strike at their enemies in Syria might completely vanish;
3) The pipelines supplying 60% of Turkey's gas might just develop problems needing shutdown; ditto the 35% of oil sourced from Russia;
4) Turkey needs tourists to finance its current account deficit; I don't see the 1,7 million Russians who visited last year, showing up again anytime soon.

What we can say with certainty though, is that those Turkmen rebels are about to experience a world of hurt.

Russia has quite a number of cards to use against Turkey, but what i really want to see is a direct retaliatory action against Turkey.

The SU-24 barely... I mean barely violated Turkish Airspace.

If I were Putin I would fire 30 cruise missiles tonight on Turksmen positions on the Turkish border, but I would ensure that those missiles land atleast 1km away from the Turkey border as to show the Turks there actions will not go unnoticed.

Russia now plans to implement new measures aimed at strengthening the security of the country’s air base in Syria and in particular to bolster air defense.

Russian guided missile cruiser Moskva, equipped with the ‘Fort’ air defense system, similar to the S-300, will be deployed off Latakia province's coast.

"We warn that every target posing a potential threat will be destroyed,” lieutenant general Sergey Rudskoy said during the briefing.

The Moskva (‘Moscow’) missile cruise is a flagship vessel of the Russian Black Sea fleet and is one of the fleet’s two biggest ships. The cruiser was stationed in Sevastopol but left in summer 2015 after being deployed to the Mediterranean Sea where it joined Russia’s standing naval force in the Mediterranean.

Budget makes provision for new equipment for SANDF

"The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will be acquiring medium and light transport aircraft, torpedoes, mobile communications and air launched missiles, as funding has been allocated for these items in the Department of Defence’s budget."

Agh man what we really Need are Heavy-lift Aircraft something like the A400M or maybe even the C-17. Buying Medium and Light Aircraft still means that we'll have to lease Heavy Lift Planes everytime we need to move something big.

We'll all have to wait and see what the SANDF gets. Options for Heavy lift aircrafts are so limited, it probably makes to continue leasing Heavy lifts while additional Medium lift aircrafts are procured to complement the few C-130s in SAAF service.

I thought we learnt in ww2 that riveted armor is bad
How many years has it been since world war two 70+ is it? alot has happened since then, For starters, computers for simulation and modelling against all possible scenarios and work on them to perfection..... WW2 was marked by low supply of rare materials for the alloys and their supply of skilled Labour since most of them were on the frontlines.................. If the serbian company is using reverted amour for an MRAP specifically designed for special operations in urban areas in the 21st century,, obviously they found a work around on the problems brought by using reverted amour, For starters the Lazar has a number of hull amarments including the outside is made of armor piercing steel, in addition ballistic fiber glass ... "the Lazar is the only 8×8 APC model successfully configured as an MRAP"- so I would think its as technologically advanced as any APC/MRAP today ... All in all it has STANAG IV level amour on the sides, as is most APCs

Jap, might be a few years before we acquire a heavy-lift platform, although if im correct SAAF considers the C130 as a medium lift aircraft, which could mean that in the near future, we might be seeing C130Js in SAAF colours.

But what im really hoping for, is that all this kak surrounding the proposed acquisition of a R4Bil VIP aircraft gets sorted out, and our Government makes the right decision and instead of buying a dedicated VIP aircraft, we instead buy a multi-role platform like the A330 MRTT, hell with R4bil we can buy 2 A330 MRTTs although i think we need a minimum of 3 which would cost around R6Bil.

Im relatively sure SAAF designates the C130 as medium lift, It would be interesting to see if they acquire a platform that ultimately replaces our current fleet, or acquires a platform that complements the current fleet until SAAF acquires something like the A400m or AN70.

They shot down a Russian fencer then run to the UN for protection. Russia is not a she, Russia is a HE. Who knows, Putin is a calculating guy,maybe he was just baiting, he might not have intended for his pilots to die, but this incident basically gives papa Russia all the justification to do whatever HE wants, by the time he is done, Syria will be a a very large base for Russia

Nigerian military's major exercises or war games are not photographed, video recorded, or published if the operation is totally a Nigerian affair with no foreign joint participant. People think Nigeria does not train on large scale, but they regularly do.

Operation OLOGUN META.....year 2009....Nigerian Ex-President Yar Adua watches with a long range binoculars.

"A Brigade of the Nigerian Army, three mother naval cat class-warships – NNS KYANWA, NNS OBULA and NNS NWAMBA - and six squadrons of Nigerian Air Force aircraft are participating in in the exercise. Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Paul Dike, explained that the conduct of the joint exercise was borne out of “the desire to exercise our troops in a tri-service setting.

The exercise involved beach landing operations, riverine operations and insertion of troops, advance quick attack, deliberate attack phase and internal security operations.

Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Paul Dike, explained that the conduct of the joint exercise was borne out of “the desire to exercise our troops in a tri-service setting in year 2009.

The exercise, he said, “will essentially serve as a platform for us to test our intelligence gathering abilities, check the interoperability of our communication facilities as well as testing our Command and Control capability. At the end of the whole exercise, the lessons learnt will be used in improving our operational procedures in current and future operations,” he said.

The Nigerian military last held an exercise of this magnitude in May 2004, when it organised Operation TAKUTE EKPE in Lagos.

The exercise climaxed display of months of operations, weeks of reconnaissance and days of rehearsals. The officers and men involved in JOPEX 09 were involved in beach landing operations, harbour defence, riverine operations and insertion of troops, advance quick attack, deliberate attack phase and Internal Security Operations (ISOs).

The beach landing part of the exercise had commenced last Monday just as the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Paul Dike was finishing his welcome address. It involved the simulation of naval and combat aircraft bombardments boomed all around the surrounding beachfront, signalling the start of assault on enemy positions."
