JAMB registrar, Mr. Dibu Ojerinde, has faulted the Nigerian senate’s call for that UTME results be valid for 3 years.

According to him, such a policy would delay and obstruct the education progress of students across board.

“There are complexities in this thing, until we are able to clear it. When you say you will use JAMB results for three years, is it an achievement test or aptitude test? However, are we delaying his or her life? Are we postponing his or her life by telling them to stay at home? If by next year he doesn’t get the cut off points, what happens?

Mr. Ojerinde also said that expressing reservations about the Senate position did not in any way signify opposition to cutting cost.

“I have nothing against the idea, because we will tell the children, ‘those bluffing Polytechnics and College of Education, go there and waste their time’, if it is a waste of time.”

He spoke in Abuja during the opening ceremony of JAMB-UNEB Benchmark on Item Banking.

Let them scrap this JAMB and let every institution conduct its own entrance exam, enough of this duplication of aptitude test and exam fee.

When he knows there will be a decrease in their income yearly,but on a serious note,I don't support the 3 years validity, how would a candidate gain admission 3 years after writing jamb,he/she will have forgotten what he/she read for the exams and post jamb is not as intensive as jamb...moreover,it will be a matter of who knows who,what even guarantee that the candidates will still be admitted before the expiration of the results.

If they like let them make it valid for life, it won't increase the number of people who enter our tertiary institutions yearly.

scam, every year poor jambites are scammed of over 6k for a silly exam that the results never correlate with ur intelligence , where does this money always go to self . Jamb shud be valid for at least 5 years once u passed. nonsense country

if a child is not able to secure admission in the first year, He/She can use the same jamb result to apply in the second and third year instead of sitting for another exam.

I know He would not accept..
They know how much them make every year...
Whenever you hear that 1million candidates are sitting for the exam,I'm sure that over 700 of them passed the cut off marks but were unable to get admission...

They sometimes fail students so they will re-write the exam next year(that means more money for them)

To me,its should be made valid forever.

This programme should have been scrapped long ago, it's really affecting our education system ranging from extortion & delay in child's educational development.... The ministry of education should go back to the drawing board and find something more better

Can u imagine not getting admission for 3years without study because u have already passed JAMB? Na only JAMB de compel admission seekers to freshening their memory. This bill will only make our admission seekers a whole much lazy. The Senate can pass a more effective bill

First, I think JAMB is a leveler.
Irrespective of your region and exposure, it brings everyone on the same level and let's us all assess ourselves woth the same standards.

Second, jamb sort of standardizes the curriculum. Gives an idea of what is expected of you by the time youre done with secondary school.

Issues with admissions are quite complex and i dont think it is right for the Senate to make such pronouncements without consulting appropriate agencies.

You can't extend the validity of jamb results to three years!!!

The competition is to stiff and more students are graduating every year.

It is an entrance exam, not a certificate exam, hence it should remain the way it is.

What you can do to ameliorate problems is

1. Ensure admission is strictly by merit in every institution,
2. Eradicate exam malpractices.
3. Increase the admission capacity of institutions by expanding facilities and manpower.

With these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince you and not confuse you that the Senate should make due consultation and reverse thier pronouncements.
