The Federal Government is currently reaching out to some leaders of thought in the South-East to intervene in the growing pro-Biafra protests in that part of the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari has also received the assurances of state governors in the geopolitical zone that the issue has being adequately addressed.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in an interview on Saturday.
Adesina was responding to a question on whether the President was considering inviting leaders of the protesters for talks or will use South-East governors and other leaders of thought to reach out to them.
The presidential spokesman said the President was concerned about all parts of the country and would always follow due process and the rule of law in tackling any issue.
He said the protests formed part of the agenda of the last Council of State meeting.
He said during a discussion on the matter, a governor from the region assured council members that the issue was being handled.
Adesina said, “Government is in communication with credible leaders of the South-East on the Biafra issue.
“At the last Council of State meeting, one of the governors from the region assured council members that the issue was being looked into.
“The leaders of thought are working already. The President is concerned about every part of the country, but he will always respect due process and rule of law.”
Pro-Biafra supporters have been protesting the continued detention of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Handing money to APC Igbo leaders to condemn IPOB will not quench the protest!

Only an offer of true federalism, devolution followed with a referendum on independence will solve this problem.

If Presidency start implementing the last confab report and devolve government. I can see majority of Igbos voting to stay in naija.

We don't know about your credible leaders and governors. The only person that can talk to us is Nnamdi KANU. The people protesting are the members of IPOB chaired by Nnamdi Kanu.


He is the only person that can speak to us on this matter vis-à-vis we have our demands with him.

Though I do not support secession but Some people say IPOB exists only on facebook thus inconsequential. So why invite the Igbo elders?
The truth is that IPOB member are 90% youths and these youths have lost hope in the so called Igbo leaders being invited. Therefore the invitation of these Igbo leaders will not yield result.
The people that should be invited are those at the fore front of this movement (Uchemefor and co )
