Hi everybody
I just got an admission to lambton college to do a pg course in business management for 2years. The quoted fee for first year is 13360cad while fees due for the first semester is 6800cad. Should i pay the semester fees or the whole session fees and after payment whats the next line of action and which documents do i need for the visa application. I want to apply online. The estimated cost of living for a year quoted on the admission letter is 10080cad. What would my sponsors balance be showing that would be sufficient?
Thanks
Congrats sire. You can round up the figures e.g 13360 to 14000cad. Payment is relative. Some schools collect just the first semester fees while some collect everything you throw their way. But I suggest you pay first semester fees at least (if you wish to).
So, your sponsor can show a year's tuition (14000) + 11,000 (this can be split to reflect as 7,000 room and board and 4,000; others). The accumulated sum should be covered by your sponsor's account and yours if applicable. Depending on exchange rates; 6-8M (naira) should be sufficient. Kindly ensure you use an account that has good inflow/outflow of transactions and also show source of funds; for an entrepreneur, you should add business registration documents and tax documents etc. while for an employee, you should show proof that said person is employed i.e employment letter showing annual income etc.

Good morning to everyone and a happy new month, i just discovered a christian college through the cic page but to my suprise i was told by the school(college) that i can apply and get their admission letter without paying a dime, they dont charge for applicantion fee , only security deposit for accomodation is to be paid which is CAD$150 but i went further asking them that i do not plan for thier accomodation, so they replied that i shouldnt pay the security deposit of $150.
According to them, the tuition fee can be paid when i arrive the school in canada

now my question is, how will the canadian embassy see my issue when i apply to them for study visa. will the school be a red flag or will my admission process be seen as a red flag.

the school offers a 3 yr bsc program , diploma and cert program
do i stand a chance in getting thier visa if i go through such admission process.

pLease i need your advice

thanks to everyone

First let us know the name of the school. Dont hide things and expect reply.

are we to say that every school listed on the CIC website page are non redflag schools to the canadian embassy, seeing that they posted/advertised those schools on this website. i say this because it s not so with the USA. the USA will not grant visas to anyone with a Community College Admission Letter,
this school is a bible school or chistian college, only bible related courses they offer.
the school is not tuition free

Please search the CIC webiste and u ll find lots of them with such offers

Hello...My candid advice to you is that you should try and get the money and let your school send the transcript themselve...GBCollege is one of the toughest colleges in Canada...They are always very inquisitive when it comes to stuffs like this....

I'm starting a pgd prog in GBC by January according to God's will, jst waiting for pp request.

During my application I notarized d transcript I already have with me and later I have my school sent to them another one that was addressed to GBC...

Wish you good luck.
wow, a George brown applicant, and January intake at that.

hello house, thank you so much for everything @thesoj, @ayooluwatoni and others, I really do appreciate your helps.

my question for today is, my tuition fee is $7784 and differencial fee is 8448 for a year, I would like to pay a semester tuition fee in order to add weight to my application, can I pay half of the yearly tuition fee or I must pay half of the yearly tuition fee+ half of yearly differencial fee?

I mean can I pay 3892$ or I must pay $3892+4224= 8116?

I honestly don't always support making financial commitments such as paying tuition / accommodation fees, or purchasing air ticket etc, before getting TRV. It is safer to show proof that the money has already been given to you; either by a deposit made to your Nigerian account in the name of your sponsor (which will be reflected both in your statement of account and your sponsor's) or by a deposit made to an account (in your name) for you in Canada by your sponsor, with proofs.
PAYMENT OF TUITION FEES DOES NOT GIVE MORE WEIGHT TO YOUR APPLICATION, except if it is a condition for your admission (I.e. the school gave you a conditional admission, upon payment of tuition or acceptance fee).
It is true that payment of tuition fee may show a little bit of commitment on the part of the applicant or the sponsor, but it is not a determinant at all. We've had lots of people on this thread in the past that paid tuition yet were refused visa, and in fact if you check the application guide, it was directly discouraged.

However, if you insist, I think it's good you pay full tuition fee for a year.

I wish you good luck.

May I know the source/basis for your statement: "the USA will not grant visas to anyone with a Community College Admission Letter"? Because it is NOT TRUE, except they started it last night.
The issue with Canada tertiary institutions is, not all of them is fit to accept International Students. I'm not sure about this though, but I think the designation of schools by CIC started as a result of fraud by some institutions that connive with International students to migrate them to Canada under the cover of studying in Canada, thereby reducing the reputation of the education system in Canada. That is why a school's designation is not permanent, as the school can be sanctioned if found wanting/guilty and her designation/permit/license to accept international students withdrawn.

So if the Bible College is a designated learning institution, and you're sure of what you want, you can go ahead and apply to the school for admission. Getting Study Permit will not be a problem, so far you meet CIC's requirements for issuing Study Permit.

I very much agree with this post. If need be, transferring the money to your account is a very credible way of showing your sponsor's commitment to funding you. I personally would only recommend paying tuition if you have been denied for "insufficient funds" and if it is also difficult for your sponsor to transfer the money to your account (e.g. a sponsor abroad who doesn't want to transfer the money to a Naija account or a sponsor who doesn't trust you with his/her money in your account lol).

Having said that, it doesn't hurt to pay tuition if you want to. That is what we did for both my siblings' applications (my sis initially got denied for insufficient funds so we found it preferable to pay her tuition instead of transferring to her Naija account due to the sponsor's location abroad). For my bro's app, we paid tuition to the school and transferred living expenses funds to his domiciliary account.

Nonetheless, there are several GCMS files I've read in which the VO does not believe the applicant is a genuine student even though the applicant paid tuition already. In one case, the applicant had already paid two years tuition, yet the VO still did not believe s/he was a genuine student; the applicant was denied for Purpose of Visit and its accomplices.

So yeah. Good advice by Ayo.
cc: princeade09

Edited: if your sponsorship is very credible (e.g. parents) and with a good cash or brokerage balance, then no need to transfer money to your account or pay tuition.
