The frequency of change depends on how dusty your environment is. Nor,ally, most car manufacturers would say 6-12 months period of change. To change it, you'll need this tool, the price of the Air cleaner depends on your location. Budget between 1,500-4,500 naira

Good morning my fellow benz crew.
I have been driving benz W124 since 2003 till last week when I thought to myself I must give up D car.I had a 200 4 speed and a 230 5speed.these cars are superb machines with no faults at all,I do the servicing all by myself.and only get mechanics to change brake pads, hubs, shock absorbers et all,
Recently I got a w201,had issues with the radiator water mixing with the gear trasmission oil,my mechanic suggest I change the air coolant and steamwash the radiator, these I did on saturday but cannot finish yet as my mechanic has fumbled with the keys while trying to open D trunk, now the trunk refused to take in keys, pls I need advice on how to open D trunk without damaging the car,I don't mind damaging the locks but not the boot itself or the car body when the panel beater want to try open it.please I need ppl who has experienced this b4 and how the got it open.

Hi everyone, thank God for a thread like this. Please advice me. I bought a 2003 clk 2 door Benz from a friend. He wanted to upgrade so I seized the opportunity. We worked in the same office so I knew that the car was okay cos he was always driving it to work. At the beginning the car was fine but after parking it for like 3 months ( although I warm the engine daily and drive it within the area) the car developed issues. When I try accelerating whether am in motion or at a spot the car sounds like it's struggling then the engine cuts off or it becomes so slow no matter how much the press down. Sometimes when I restart the car it acts fine for another 30 minutes then starts acting up again. To cut the long story short 3 mechanics one of which was the mechanic working with the car from day one, three filter and pump changes, change of plugs (4 plug engine), ejector cleaning etc the problem persist. The annoying thing is the car will perform okay for about 2 weeks then the problem starts again. The fuel Guage has issues as it does not give a correct reading but I don't think this is the cause. Anyone with experience please help. Am already thinking of selling it again less than 6 months after purchase.
your coils and probably airflow meter might be in bad shape. Especially the coils, u might think of changing them

Dear all,
I am having issues with my w203 c240. First the a/c was bad. Kept changing the compressor, did this for like 2 times without success. Somehow my friend took it to an a/c man who changed the compressor to manual comp without my knowledge. Though the a/c was cooling initially, he had to set my fan to work with the ignition bypassing the thermostat. I got angry when I saw it took it to another a/c man who removed the compressor and changed it back to the automatic compressor(new one), changed the condenser, the evaporator and the expansion valve. Now the issue is the new A/C man has been trying to locate the position of the compressor wire from the control unit without sucess. Please I will need the gurus in the house to tell me the exact location of the wire that runs from the front SAM to the compressor.

Also my car does not sense my remote key in the morning when it has stayed overnite. I had to try for several mins before signal can be sent. Please these are the issues bothering me now and I need help

My MB E320 had issues with the radiator mixing with the gear oil,I had the oil coolant changed but the problem still persists until I changed the radiator, which now solved the proble, the mechanic only drained the oil from the gear box and put new oil,he did not change the gear filter.I tested it and the gears changed initially, but as I parked it to buy some stuff I got back and it would not move in any gears,Reverse,Drive,no movement, what could have caused it,and how can one rectify the problem?

Sue for malpractice!

He should have flushed the entire system!

Now you have a new radiator (which should have ordinarily solved your problem) BUT you/and your mechanic failed to drain the contaminated transmission fluid as well as replaced the transmission fluid and replace the transmission fluid

So assuming its not too late, tow the car to another mechanic who will have to break down the entire system, and flush the system as well

and replace all fluids once more, transmission and coolant

If this does not solve the problem, you will have to buy a new transmission

Negligence of the highest order, I pity you, you might have to shell big bucks to return your ride to normal
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by chinene1(f): 6:07pm On Nov 13, 2015
Hi guys, am back. So I tell the mechanic to check the airflow meter, coils and oxygen stuff. He did but no visible problem then he decides to check the pumps and found out it was blocked. He said the problem could be coming from within the tank so he has to drop it and check as the pumps were very dirty when he checked them. I sort of believe him cos the fuel Gauge can really misbehave. When I start the car sometimes it's shows empty when there is fuel then corrects the reading and other times it does not read below half a tank even when I know am running close to reserve . Waiting to what the outcome will be.

I've been following your replies and you seem to know enough about this air suspension thing, my s500 just sat down while I was driving it! Can it be the shocks or the air pump cause the front is still very ok? Does it use different pumps for the front and rear or its the same? Can you also recommend a good Ben mechanic in Ibadan?
skj1377:

If your car is an E class, you could change to manual shocks i heard its N250k.You can also Get the car scanned with a c3 scanner you can check all the components of the air suspension while its still fixed on the car besides you can calibrate the ride height to suite you or set to manufacturers default. If you have read the manual you will see that its normal for the car to sit if its not driven for months, if your air pump is good the car should rise even with leaks around the plumbing provided its not to bad.
on the other hand, if you don't have a scanner and you don't want to pay any scanner peddler, all you do for a serious leak and a good air pump is put your ear close to the car's individual shocks you will hear a hissing sound from the shock with a serious leak when the car is slightly raised with your hands.
If you have the money buy components from abroad they will last much longer but if you don't get prepared to buy air shocks regularly at the rate of N30k front and N18k rear don't bother to buy air pump locally find a way to import its sold like N35k locally.
I use a 2002 s430 its over 2 years but am expecting a 2006 s430 sometime this month though i might sell it and buy the next shape next year. I have made air shocks mandatory for my driving experience.
