Siasia banks on Dakar's grass

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Samson Siasia believes playing in Dakar against Algeria in Saturday’s decisive 2015 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations game will see his side play better.

The Nigeria head coach was speaking against the backdrop of two unconvincing performances against Mali and Egypt at Stade Caroline Faye in M’Bour.

Saturday’s game against the Algerians will be played at Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, Dakar, and Siasia believes the difference in playing surfaces at both stadia could prove to be a decisive factor.

“We have played our first two games against Mali and Egypt on an artificial surface (at the Stade Caroline Faye, M'Bour) and now we will play (our next game against Algeria) on grass (at Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor, Dakar).

“It’s easier to play on grass than the artificial surfaces because the ball moves faster and bounces higher and that will give us a lot of confidence,” Siasia said.

He was however quick to add that Nigeria’s less-than-appealing displays against Mali and Egypt had nothing to do with the surface in M’Bour.

“We have managed to secure four points from our first two games and I think we have to play better against Algeria on Saturday.

“We need to defend well in the second half against Algeria because we have shown in our first two games that we don’t know how to defend in the second halves of matches.

“That is something we need to sort out quickly,” he said.

U-23 AFCON: CAF Shift Nigeria Vs Algeria, Third-Place Match Kick-Offs

The Confederation of African Football have made changes to the kick-off times of five matches at the ongoing Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal.

One of the matches affected is Nigeria's final Group B match against Algeria in Dakar on Saturday.

It was initially scheduled to kick off at 3pm Senegalese time (4pm Nigeria), but will now start at 5pm (6pm Nigeria), the same time the other group match between Mali and Egypt has been shifted to.

CAF announced the changes on their website on Tuesday.

The players are not fit at all. They can hardly last 30 minutes on the field before they collapse physically and mentally . Their bodies are too stiff as if they hadn't played football for ages. The defenders are jittery whenever they control the ball. They clear balls awkwardly like female players. All in all, they need to step up their game and concentrate more when they are ahead.

we go win them by Gods grace .3----1

Shout to all Nigerians Must win for naija

another tense match again...Sia1 should really work on his team concentration, they will play well in the first half only to crumble in the second half...

Its not about reward, its about giving everybody equal opportunity.Nobody is a monopoly of front page.

Secondly, this exchange was deliberate cos the Dec 1 thread was initially on FP and over a page

ok
guys lets go there

Though the performance of the lads have been uninspiring but I still have this believe that Nigeria will win against the Algerian...

But nonetheless, our Achilles'heels have been the midfield and defense.

Our midfielders seems to be attack minded, not drifting back to support the defense, they are not really creative as well.

Our defense is nothing to write home about, always nervy when with the ball, poorly organized.

Saw the match between Senegal and Zambia yesterday, I can say that the Senegalese parades best set of defenders in this competition.

Other News:

South Africa joined hosts Senegal in the semi-finals of the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-0 win Tunisia on Friday.
The win gave South Africa Grpup B’s second ticket after Senegal, who qualified after winning their first two games.

South Africa finished with six points with Menzi Mazuku scoring the only goal in the 85th minute in Mbour to send Tunisia packing.
Senegal sealed their 100 per cent record with a 1-0 win over Zambia in Dakar also on Friday.
Mouhahamadou Diallo headed home the only goal of the match in the fourth minute to send Zambia home without any points.

my expectation

for semis

Nigeria vs South Africa

Senegal vs Algeria

NIGERIA 3 ALGERIA1
FINAL SCORES

Siasia tactics is based and nurtured on out-scoring the other team.......but today, he needs to make sure he has one deep-lying midfielder that won't leave the base of the midfield for any reason. The other midfielder can be mobile, they can go create and score but this deep-lying midfielder must remain to help break attacks and also replace our Left and Right backs whenever they overlap so dat our defence will not suffer too much and siasia can still attack as much as he wants to score lots of goals. Another thing is dat, he should bring in osimeh during the 2nd half so dat we can utilize his strength and vigour in keeping their defence on their toes, this will allow us to congest the midfield while osimeh thrives as the lone striker.

All the best of luck to the dream team as they seek to quality for the semi-finals and to put get their olympic qualification back on track.

.

from the analysis, nigeria needz to go for the win coz a draw with algeria myt go against them should egypt win by a two goal margin. ryt now nigeria is having a goal diff of +1 whilst algeria has+2..., naija should just go for the win.

Una don start again
Radio say na by 4pm...
na so una do for the last match..

Oshe oshe oo oshe o oshe baba! x100
