Why Is Jesus Called A Savior ? by raayah(f): 7:51pm On Nov 27, 2015
Why is Jesus called a savior when all he is doing is saving you from the punishment he gave you?

God created heaven and earth and all that is within. Why are we being Saved from something that God created in the first place.

let look at the world as a cosmic examination hall, the holy book as a guide and God as the examiner

In this sense...you are given some set of guidelines which if you obey you will pass the exam(hence be saved) and if you do not obey you fail the exam

And the ones(prophet) who makes the guidelines accessible and understandable to us are in this context our saviors or better still our tutor

what punishment Jesus gave you ? God created the heaven and earth and call it GOOD, knowing full well that man need to act by his OWN freewill in other not to be a robot, this mean an opposite option of GOOD will be allowed, which is EVIL . Without evil Good cannot be manifest, its will look like slavery (being force to love God ) moral evils result from the human misuse of freedom. So God provide a solution to solve the problem of evil is Jesus christ, Jesus seth up a commandments which He did not break and urged us to follow His footsteps, Jesus is the only man who has Never sin, by following Him, we can be made holy as Him. ^^ furthermore what we call evil are healthy in our christians faith "bible call it a refining by fire" In Scripture, God uses evil to test his servants (Job, 1 Pet. 1:7, Jas, 1:3), to discipline them (Heb. 12:7-11), to preserve their lives (Gen. 50:20), to teach them patience and perseverence (James 1:3-4), to redirect their attention to what is most important (Ps. 37), to enable them to comfort others (2 Cor. 1:3-7), to enable them to witness powerfully of the truth (Acts 7), to give them greater joy when suffering is replaced by glory ( 1 Pet. 4:13).

It is certainly true that when God brings
pain and suffering upon people, he has a good purpose. “As for you, you meant
evil against me, but God meant it for good” ( Gen. 50:20). And in a context
dealing with the sufferings of Christians,
Paul says, “for those who love God all
things work together for good, for those
who are called according to his purpose” ( Rom. 8:28). Recognizing and
affirming this principle is an essential
element in any Christian response to the problem of evil. For it is essential to
realize that even though God does bring
evil into the world, he does it for a good
reason. Therefore, he does not do evil in bringing evil to pass.

In the last day, God’s justice, mercy, and
righteousness will be so plain to all that
nobody will accuse him of wrongdoing.
Rather, “All nations will come and
worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed." ( Rev 15:4b

Apostle Paul, who underwent much more suffering than most of us, even says that “this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of
glory beyond all comparison” ( 2 Cor. 4:17).

Joseph was surprised at the means God
used to lift him from a status as slave
and prisoner to that of Pharaoh’s prime
minister.

For the burden of proof is, after all, not
upon us. It is the objector who must
show that the evils of this world cannot
be part of an overall good plan. I have
shown many ways in which God brings
good out of evil, even when it seems
impossible for the good to prevail. Can
the objector prove that God is unable to
integrate the present evils into an overall good plan.

Do we want to say that God is the “cause” of evil? That language is certainly problematic, since we usually associate cause with blame.

Its pointless replying such people, they claim christianity is nonsense, it disturbs them so much that they cant stop talking about it.
Its a form of evangelism though unfortunately, they arnt sure what they are evangelising.

Its pointless replying disturbed people, we can only pray for them.

Dear raayah,

Jesus the Messiah didn't come to save you from punishment, per se.
He came to save you from YOURSELF!

We were born with a natural inclination to sin, but until we receive the grace to be free, we are doomed to end up in a place of punishment. Now, my dear, take note that God did not create man and provide a place of punishment for man - WE WERE CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF GOD.
Man lost this image, this identity when our first father fell into sin, and thus, has reproduced this trait in all descending generations.

This explains why they "...realized that they were naked, so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves."( Gen. 3:7). They realized they were naked because they had eaten of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and thus, their eyes were opened.
It wasn't God's intention that man should eat of the fruit of good and evil; he simply expected a creature in his image to understand and obey his instruction, but we didn't, the very same way a carnally-minded person can't resist the urge to have immoral sex, or lie.

All this also explains why there is a natural curiosity to dabble into sin, despite warnings from all quarters. It has also been proven that man, on his own accord, can not be free from any sin( lying, fornication, cheating, wild partying, etc), *see if you can prove me wrong* and thus we need this grace, this MESSIAH( the anointed), this free gift despite all our shortcomings and wickedness.
We need to believe that only he can set us free, and once we've accepted this grace, only then do we truly begin to grow into the conformation of what God has created us to be in the first place( Eph. 2:10).

So, there, it isn't from the fire we are being saved, we are being saved from OUR OWN FAULTS.
Now, why should anyone linger? There's a time when Christ will no longer plead.

I implore all( saved or unsaved) who have read this to study Ephesians chapter 2.

May the Almighty, Jehovah, reward our efforts in grace to stay free from sin.
Sincerely yours in the race,
Christian.

This your last statement contradict everything you wrote.
An all-knowing , all-powerful being is "testing humans" ?
That is pure wickedness because he already know the
outcome.

We can't even call it a game because the setting is unfair.
It is no different from a father leaving guns carelessly in
the house and warning the children not to play with it or
they will die. Then later one of them for shooting the other
dead.

Even if we assume he doesn't know the children will "disobey"
him(in god case, god knew the outcome), what differentiate that "father"
from a monster in human flesh ?

Aren't you disturbed by the notion that you are just another pawn that
will be sacrificed if need be for the glory of the master ?

Is it not problematic that a father purposely inflict death and suffering on
his children(slaves) just to prove a point ?

are you an atheist? You are assuming God to be man. God is not the cause of evil, He only allowed evil to exist for man to have option to chose from.

He already knows the choices that invalidates any notion of choice.

Your logic is warped, on one hand you believed god created everything
and has power over all but on the other hand you think he is not responsible
for what happens afterall.

If you think he is not human why does he behave and act like humans(the evil cold-hearted one)
most of the time ?

And again when you go for evangelism(I assume you do), why don't you tell your
victims the truth about who that god is instead of qualifying him as a "caring father"
even though he isn't any close to being a father because we all know what father's
does best.
You refuse to preach the true face of god as the man who allows evil to happen and
watches in amusement. You knew no one will adopt such a god that is why you carefully
alter his image to serve your own purpose.

From your comment, are you saying that god was a liar when he
said this:

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Isaiah 45:7

Wrong!
he allowed evil to exist so he could have an excuse to be the depraved, evil, coldhearted, and wicked being that he is while still garnering support from gullible ones.

people who have not had a chance to hear about his son's death, and therefore, didn't get to make a choice, will go to hell. so where the hell is the choice you're talking about? undecided

Why are robbers evil? after all, they do give you a choice. a clear choice.

1. Give us your belongings.
2. suffer and die.

God gives the exact same set of choices.

1. Give me your belongings.
2. suffer and die.

so why, in your warped mind, do you consider one as good and the other as bad?
