TheGoodJoe:Oga Biafrans want out Simlple Enough of all this your advice cause no one is listening to them |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 12:49pm On Dec 07, 2015 |
theDEVILisHERE:Advice is not by force. I just do not want the marginalization talk as an excuse. The bad leaders are the true problems of the Igbos, not because they are Nigerians. |

safarigirl:what that sounds like more a case of my way or we break up the igala people have been running things in politics in kogi and chancing all the other tribes. now, like the igbos, they want to leave because they lost out in an election. |

TheGoodJoe:Igbos as in state in not doing badly . we re talking about marginalization at federal level in terms of appointments and federal infrastructure and anti iigbo policies targeting their interests in Nigeria state and the killing of igbos in non igbo states |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by iconaus: 1:16pm On Dec 07, 2015 |
Aigbofa:The struggle for Biafra has been on for the past 20 yrs . An average Biafran wants Biafra . Nnadi kanu is an ardent critic of Gej . What escalated the struggle was the manner Buhari has reacted so far in regard to appointments signifying that Biafrans are not part of this country and there is strong indication that igbo interest will be targeted badly under this regime . Biafra agitation has nothing to do with Gej losing rather it is Buhari actions so . |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by Nobody: 1:47pm On Dec 07, 2015 |
@safarigirl In your account, you stated that a bus driver of kogi igala extraction said he will prefer biafra just cos his people lost out in te just concluded kogi guber race. Remember that igbos were also pro-nigeria, just like the man, until their hero GEJ lost the presidential election. I think your inference here is that biafra is for those that lost out in the control of nigeria. Since they can't control nigeria, they feel it's best they opt out so as to escape facing the result of their myopic decisions instead of moving on or enduring for a little while to get back in the scheme of things. Biafra is really for disgruntled elements. |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:00pm On Dec 07, 2015 |
iconaus:You can not deny the Igbos lack behind in a lot of areas. For instance, Aba can not compare to one tenth of the infrastructural development of Uyo. If these developments were there, I think we would see so much clamor for Igbos in terms of Federal appointments. Why pursue for what will be difficult to achieve than first pursue what is in your back yard. The allocations come and the officials of the state squanders it. If the Igbos checkmate or reduce the wastage by their leaders, things would be far better there. The clamor of Biafra is mostly fueled by the need for the improved plights of the Igbos. This problem is caused mostly by the Igbos ruling them and not those in key appointments in the Federal Government. If there is a Biafran country, these men will still be the ones ruling. What will happen then? A protest against them? Why not start the fight now and make the most of what you have. |

tonychristopher:You can see, you always talk with sentiments. You guys are ready to celebrate individuals at the detriment of collective developments. I do not care how many billionaires or technocrats are in your areas. I am talking of wild scale development in the area. Before you keep abusing me, I am half Igbo, my maternal side were part of the war. Do you see your statement? That is why other tribes will not join in your march and that is why winning a war will be next to impossible. Your statement shows arrogance and you are looking down on other tribes. Please stop all those superiority talk. We are all created by one God. Every tribe is great, including the Hausas, Yorubas, Akwa Ibomites, Ijaws, Riverines and so on. |

@TonyChristopher and GoodJoe, you guys should leave this unnecessary bickering and concentrate on the topic. Our local politicians can only do their best but they would still be at the permission of the wicked Federal Government of Nigeria. Akpabio really tried for Akwa Ibom but we all know how much is allocated to the state. Compare that with what's given to the Igbo regions? For an area with the highest population density teeming with millions of people any wise government would have known that it posed a strong economic concerns. Neglecting it would then be counterproductive. We can all see what it has resulted to. The government deliberately neglected and even sought to frustrate the effort of her people. Only in Igboland will supposed citizens be told to contribute money for the construction of a bridge alongside the government. If another bridge was to be constructed across River Niger or Benue, will the states involved be told to contribute? Whatever seems to be of benefit to the east irks them and they fight tooth and nail to frustrate it. We know how the PDP during Obj's era was bent on destroying Anambra state. However today the story is that of glory for us under an Igbo originated party- APGA. Today in virtually all facets of development we are ahead. This is what we hope to achieve under Biafra. Our people are very strong and our enemies are ever scheming for how to hold us down. We cannot afford to fight ourselves with our enemies around. That would be grave. Anambra is already setting the model of how biafra would be. |

@TheGoodJoe While I agree with you to a large extent especially as it pertains to Igbos holding their leaders accountable as I highlighted in the this thread https://www.nairaland.com/2766901/igbos-need-redirect-protests-leaders. However, I think the agitations for those who want out is beyond that. I think necessarily think Igbos are lagging way beyond other states and regions in terms of dividends of democracy from their governors. All the Governors in Nigeria are the same in my opinion savevfor a few. If you talk about Akpabio or Fashola BVN or Amaechi like you stated, you have a Chime, Peter Obi and to some extent Rochas. The fact that these men have not built gargantuan edifice like Always Ibom is because of the scarcity of funds for such projects which is one of the bones of contention by Igbos. Why should we be reduced to 5 states while other zones have 6 and 7 respectively especially when the number of states and local government determines how much allocation goes to a state. Why are we not been considered when they want to cite important federal institutions? As i speak to you, there's little to zero federal presence in the entire Igboland. Why are we being shortchanged in terms of federal appointments? Even in Jonathan's regime that people thought were filled with Igbos and SS, mk ost government ministries and parastatal were still dominated by Northerners and their friends. Why is there. Federal character system when the region that it favours have never been mistreated by the Nigerian government similarly to the way African Americans were mistreated in the US. If anything federal character should favour Igbos who are recovering from the civil war and not the same people who have held this nation to ransome. So, all this issues culminate into why the Biafran protest is rife. |

Afam4eva:So you did not read it....they keep calling aba as if akwa ibom is El Dorado.... For heaven sake I know that damn place .....well I know their people well also |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:11am On Dec 08, 2015 |
tonychristopher:Nobody is comparing anyone with you. You are proud and you feel you are better than others. A lot of you feel this way. I am glad I do not. I look at everyone equally. Being proud and feeling you bare better is nothing different than racism. Where the white skinned people feel the complexion of their skin make them better than the blacks. Leave all those our Oil talk. I am not one of those people. I believe everyone has a role to play to make this country a better place. If we stop our ethnic and religious bigotry, Nigeria can be a force. |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:13am On Dec 08, 2015 |
tonychristopher:What do you know? Are you saying Akpabio did not make massive strides in the development of the City of Uyo? I want to see the same massive strides made in Aba. It can be done, I wonder how wanting to see massive strides in Aba, Umuahia and co. became bad. |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by tonychristopher: 8:15am On Dec 08, 2015 |
TheGoodJoe:That's your own ideology....I am proud and I was brought up to be better and I also have no apology for this. So you know all these things and you write that thing ab initio ...we Igbo are confident and it has helped us |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:20am On Dec 08, 2015 |
Yujin:I agree the Federal government can do more but the Igbo leaders can do more for the Igbo people. That is all I am saying. Look at what Amaechi did, the Igbo leaders can do at least one tenth of what Amaechi did. Amaechi built 500 international standard Primary schools, with free books, Uniforms, socks and sandals. The school fees free. The Governors of the Igbo people can build 50. Amaechi built over 150 top quality health centers. The Igbo leaders can build 15-20. That is all I am saying. Things like these will cause development before fighting for ports and Bridges. |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:22am On Dec 08, 2015 |
tonychristopher:I know that is how you were brought up. I know. I do not need to look down on other tribes to feel confident. We are all great. Geographical location, religion, skin or lifestyle does not make anyone better. |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by Afam4eva(m): 8:50am On Dec 08, 2015 |
TheGoodJoe:And you know that Igbo leaders haven't done 10% or even 50% of what Amaechi did how? Do you really believe what you're writing here? |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:53am On Dec 08, 2015 |
Afam4eva:If you can show me a state in Igbo land that built 50 schools in the standard of the ones Amaechi built, I will shut up and not talk about it again. |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by Afam4eva(m): 8:55am On Dec 08, 2015 |
TheGoodJoe:When you can show me the 50 standard schools that Amaechi built then I will oblige you. |
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:08am On Dec 08, 2015 |
Afam4eva:Gov. Amaechi built 500 and you are talking of 50. In the former area I stayed in Port Harcourt at D-Line, in that small location, we had Three of these kind of schools in the pic below. Orogbum, Nkpolo Oroworukwu and Oromineke.
|
| Re: Biafra: A Struggle For Disgruntled Elements? by Yujin(m): 9:22am On Dec 08, 2015 |
TheGoodJoe:And who told you our governors have not built more than that? We aren't talking about schools and health centres here. Which region performs better than the Igbo region in education? In health, we are among the first two all over Nigeria so what are you talking about? Its only Ndigbo who really know how the SE is surviving with the over population there but for how long shall we live as though we have no federal government? Why not open up the ports in eastern part of Nigeria? Yar'adua signed millions to dredge from the ocean up to baro in Niger state. What do you have to say about that? |
