I Think sony should toe the path of making the experia affordable by many...they've got good tech but they sure have not know-how to make them marketable... people need to trust the brand..sony phones develop a lot of technical issues and are hard to repair...

Could it be their generic marketing having a field day on their products? Gamers in the last generation could remember how Sony almost shot itself with its marketing of the PS3. It took the effort of Kelvin Butler who started the “it only does everything campaign” to get the gaming device out of its shell.

Sony needs to re-evaluate its marketing strategy and stop creating smartphones with alien features that less that 1% of smartphone users care about.

It would be dis-heartening to see the likes of less powerful Samsung phones selling like hot-cakes while Xperia smartphones keep collecting dust in store-shelves.

to be honest I blame reviewers u always praise apple and criticize other smartphone makers like no tomorrow.I remember when the iPhone 6 came out a review on a site stated that the 300ppi(720p) was sharp enough that 1080p screen was absolutely unnecessary,this on a 600-800$+ phone and then when the xperia z3 compact and galaxy alpha came out with the same resolution and sharpness of the iphones they were all absolutely murdered for not having 1080p screens despite only costing 400-500$(yea between 100-400$ cheaper than an iPhone) fortunately for Samsung they have enough money to was on marketing their products but Sony do not have such luck

Xperia z has a good display but very poor viewing angles. However the problem was fixed in xperia z2, and became even better with xperia z3. Sony xperia z5 is one of the best smartphones available on terms of display, especially Sony xperia z5 premium. That phone has qhd screen with 806 ppi. That is way way more ppi than even a galaxy s6.

The problem they had hough is their design has been the same since xperia z. For me I'm not feeling that rectangular design and u can't even differentiate between someone holding a Sony xperia z and Sony xperia z5. Also they seem to release 2 xperia phones in a year. Xperia z2 was released 6 months after xperia z, likewise z3.

Another problem those xperia phones have (I dont know if they fixed it in z3 but at least it exists in z and z2) is the touchscreen. The touchscreen is fantastic, but it is designed in such a way that it is embedded with the whole body of the phone, maybe because it's waterproof. The downside is if u have a little crack on the screen, the whole touchscreen stopped working and u will have to change the whole screen. The screen hoever cannot be changed alone, u have to buy the whole phone case which is attached with the screen. That is expensive. I have changed this 2 times and it's really crazy. I had a Samsung Galaxy s3 once and the screen shattered but the touchscreen still works. If u have a small crack on ur xperia screen, the touchscreen becomes useless.

Sony has a very strong touch screen.

The first and only Xperia I used was the Xperia Mini in the fall of 2011.

Great phone I must confess.

If only they could market and hype their products like Apple and Samsung, and create a cult-like following, believe me they had be hitting the skies in no time.

Infinix and Tecno who even make less standard products hype the ones they produce like it's the passport to paradise.

The Sony marketing team needs an overhaul. Employing ex-staff from Apple and Samsung might give them a clue or two.

BlackBerry was too lazy to make a new OS, at the time they woke up. It was already late. BlackBerry OS 10 is a decent software just that there are no apps..

This is not America where the Iphones are leading in market share despite it being expensive. Naira and Dollar aren't equal. Nigerians and Americans don't have same mentality too.

That is exactly the problem they have. You don't produce flagship grade phone twice a year, you automatically telling them don't buy this one again,start buying this.

When it comes to iPhones, it's always double standard. Apple is a U.S company, you can expect the bias for reviewers dominated in the U.S.

Sony is one of the best products in the world, I remember when I won their 42'' TV screen beautifully made for promotion last year. I love Sony products and I can only hope for higher Zs. Take it or leave it, Sony though not pulling the market weight as such in Nigeria, but it's not paper weighted as many think. Just as some love apple for no just cause, some others love Sony too and I'm one of them.

posting this comment with my Xperia z ultra and to my opinion it is the best phone ever made. nice slim body, huge 6.45 inch display nice battery and storage and the Sony Ui just makes android look good. despite being a 2013 phone I will rather buy it than any iPhone 5 6 or any galaxy phone. spent upto six months looking for it and when I finally laid my hands on it I have no regrets and will use this phone by the will of God till the engine dies or anything irreparable happens to it and given the quality of materials used it's gonna be a long time before that happens.

Yu don't say what yu don't know, Xperia remains the hallmark in durability OS in Smart phones. Go online n confirm! Just say yu are ignorant of this fact.

Same here.. I've had to change it 4 times. Just last week I guess someone stepped on it. With Just a little crack the phone is useless despite its crazy spec and nice display. I've been a great supporter for Sony but due to the screen issue, i can't even say a word near my Samsung and iPhone friend. Its so heartbreaking. This time I'm not repairing it. I've dumped it to get a iPhone 5s. I'll repair when i have excess money knowing fully well it might not last 3 months

I successfully ported Sony rom on my former Gionee P2, it was magic. Great resolution, with 4G display. Though, I don't think those network providers have 4g.

Sony isn't a joke my brother... I use one of the Xperia phones and I can tell that Sony phones are very good. Their products standout, but the perception of the consumer matters alot.
