Hello, we are talking about Sony xperia z, and not Sony xperia c. Xperia z is flagship while xperia c is mid range phone. Though both have the same design, they are completely different. It's like comparing a Samsung Galaxy s with a Samsung Galaxy grand.

The xperia z series are waterproof and I think it's more of a disadvantage as the screen is glued together with the phones body. So when u drop it and have a little crack ,screen becomes non responsive, and the worse thing is u can't even change the screen alone, u have to change the complete body of the phone which is expensive. I've chnaged mine 2 times, it also happened with a friend of mine, and someone here also said he changed his 4 times. That's no coincidence.

If you break off the charging port cover, thats it... the waterproofnes is gone. I have z3

In your room Sony is not sinking.. I have been a Sony fan boy since I was a kid. So don't think I have a bias against them. But I don't write based on emotions but purely on facts. Sony is sinking faster than you can imagine. Their only profitable business at this time is the PlayStation.

posting this comment with my Xperia z ultra and to my opinion it is the best phone ever made. nice slim body, huge 6.45 inch display nice battery and storage and the Sony Ui just makes android look good. despite being a 2013 phone I will rather buy it than any iPhone 5 6 or any galaxy phone. spent upto six months looking for it and when I finally laid my hands on it I have no regrets and will use this phone by the will of God till the engine dies or anything irreparable happens to it and given the quality of materials used it's gonna be a long time before that happens.

Sony is not selling as much in the US because they refuse to market there. The US phone market is dominated by carriers who dictate to phone companies and this may be why only one carrier has just a few models.

Conversely, Sony is quite popular in Europe, especially here in the UK. Although Samsung is more popular.

I will never buy scrapy Samsung anyway. And HTCs are kinda ugly.

I saw the spec of xperia z online, ordered for one from eBay, but was not careful to observe is a contract version. (Sim locked).

I've checked, and the counter is blocked, that means it can't be unlock by a code.

Still looking for a way to unlock it. I love the design, camera and video. I browse pretty fast with WiFi connections too. I wish there a way to unlock it.

Mind you, PlayStation has always been a huge source of income for Sony. Thanks to Nintendo who snubbed Sony, when it offered PlayStation(at that time, not known as PlayStation) for sale in 1993.


In 2006, when the PS3 was launched Sony almost went bankrupt as it was loosing $250 on every PS3 console sold. The PS3 which gulped $3billion in research didn't make a single profit for 4-years.

It could have been the last Sony PlayStation device. They were able to get their act together, released a slimmer console, got a price cut and did aggressive marketing.


The success of the PlayStation brand lies on its incredible 20 first-party studios chruning out exclusive games for the console.

The PS3 was outselling the Xbox One 3-1 in its early days, before Microsoft updated it's policy and ditched the compulsory Kinnect crap.

The point is this, Sony knows how to make bad decisions. But they have been very, very terrible with their mobile division that's why things are not adding up.

Like I said, I have been a Sony fan boy, but I won't base my premise on emotions but facts that can verified anywhere.

hahaha. trust me bro it does feel like that sometimes but the structure of the phone is very rigid. if u own one u better get a case for it because it a glass front and glass back if it falls that's where there will be trouble.

You see what we are talking about. Rewind it to back in the the days when its all Sony. Sony bravia TVs, Sony sound systems. They just need to up their games. Nobody hates them really and it would be bad if Sony sinks. I also think Japan should help them more.

Most Japanese electronics are dying, South Korea and Chinese have taken the market from them. Japanese Government should do something pretty fast else the only major electronics company would sink right before their eyes

Not just names. If the world entiely buys names then Nokia should be outselling any mobile phone company. Do u know how much Samsung spends on advert at the Superbowl? They spend billions. Why? They want people to know their products, they have worked hard to get to where they are. Moreover they bring out new innovations, they take risks, sometimes it doesn't work and they go back to improve. Sony likes being in their comfort zone and its one of the things affecting them.

Same thing with apple. Apple are a brand of their own, even if they don't make adverts they will still sell. Why? Because they are known for quality products, from their mcbook computers to the mobile phones. They have created a unique ecosystem and software that is highly optimized and wonderful to look at. Why do u think an iPhone with 1gb of ram can handle tasks even better than some android with 3bg of ram? Software optimization bro. . And they are exclusive, so if u want ios, u have to buy the iPhone. Unlike android, if u want android there are hundreds of phones to choose from.

I also wondered about that. I was looking into buying an Xperia and the reaction I got from people was worse than when I said I might get a Lumia. An Xperia has passed through my hands and I found it reasonable. I do not know why most people look down on it and up at Tecno. That's like putting shoes on your hands and walking with them.
